Have you seen the Walmart Steakover commercials yet? On my recent trip to Bentonville, AR as a part of the Walmart Moms group we got a big surprise one night when we were a part of a Walmart Steakover. Basically they gave us all the opportunity to try out Walmart’s New Premium Choice Steaks.
When I eat steak I’m always drawn to the cuts of meat like filet mignon because they are usually really tender. I also like my steaks cooked medium to medium-well. At the Steakover Event we tried out the Premium Choice Steaks now offered at Walmart. The one I tasted was very tender and juicy just how I like a steak to be.
So how do you tell the difference between a select & premium choice steak at Walmart? Walmart has made it really easy to tell in their packaging. White trays represent select and the black trays are the premium choice cuts.
How do you pick out a good steak? It’s all in the marbling. Look for good marbling throughout the steak which will yield the best flavor profile.
One last tip for cooking steak at home, whether you are grilling out or cooking your steak indoors don’t break the sear. Searing the outside of your steak helps to keep all of the juices inside. Also after you have finished cooking your steak, let it rest for about 5 minutes before cutting into it.
Of course at the Steakover Event we didn’t just eat steak there was also lots of other goodies we got to try out as well. We tried a variety of new Marketside products one of my favorites being the Bavarian Pretzel Sticks. I swear I probably ate like 4 of these they were that good! I can’t wait till my local Walmart has them.

And of course every meal is just a little bit better with some sweet fruit. Marketside has a variety of different fruit trays most of them with sweet dips included.

I also want to give a special thank you to Walmart for giving me the opportunity to experience the Steakover Event and to try out all of the different foods you have to offer. I look forward to seeing these products in my local stores.
