Today, let’s talk about one of my favorite subjects….BEAUTY! I recently received several samples from Salon Perfect as a part of the Walmart Moms. When I opened the box, I was immediately drawn to the beautiful Salon Perfect nail colors. I’ve been a bit obsessed with painting my nails recently and trying different colors that I wouldn’t normally gravitate towards like summer’s hottest trend, coral. DIY manicures and pedicures are a definite must-have for summer.

Salon Perfect Nail Polish, sold exclusively at Walmart, has all kinds of different shades to match whatever mood, or outfit you may be rocking :) They only sent me a sampling but I quickly found some new summer favorites.
To start, my favorite picks for summer manicures are: Salon Perfect Flamingo Flair & Robin’s Egg. As I mentioned, coral is HUGE this summer. Flamingo Flair is that perfect coral color. I used to be a bit shy about coral, unsure if it was a good color fit for me. But after rocking several different versions of coral nails, it has definitely grown on me. Another summer favorite, Robin’s Egg, is that perfect mint summer shade. I love mint chocolate chip ice cream, and this shade reminds me of my favorite summer treat. Now when it comes to pedicures, my pick is Salon Perfect Tickled Pink. This vibrant neon pink is great for a day at the beach.
Salon Perfect also sent me a sampling of their false lashes. How often do you wear false eyelashes? I’ll admit I don’t wear them that often but when I do I’m amazed at what a huge difference they make in my overall makeup look. There are many kinds of different lashes that it may be hard to pick out the perfect pair for you. I tend to personally gravitate towards the more dramatic lashes as I love to play up my eyes. Salon Perfect Perfectly Glamorous Demi Wispies strip lashes ($2.98) are my favorite as they give your eye makeup a very strong, dramatic look. To give your lashes a lift, Salon Perfect Perfectly Natural (#53) gives the eye a more natural, everyday look they were also the most comfortable to wear when I tried them. Salon Perfect has also come out with a new line of lashes designed to compliment your eye color. Salon Perfect ColorEnhance Lashes ($4.38) comes in color coordinating shades based on your eye color plus a bonus eyeliner pencil. So for blue and green eyes, the ColorEnhance lashes have a brown tint to them while brown and hazel ColorEnhance lashes has more of a blue tint. I love this idea as I often wear a lot of browns in terms of eyeshadows because I know that those colors make my blue eyes stand out more. The key to wearing false lashes is a good adhesive, I tried the Brush-On Adhesive by Salon Perfect ($3.98) and loved that it was clear and easy to apply to the strips of lashes. But if you aren’t a fan of applying adhesive, Salon Perfect has also created Press-On Self-Adhesive Lashes ($3.98) that are pre-glued and ready to apply.
As you might have guessed, I was anxious to put together a makeup look using these lashes. I wanted to do a day to night look, so with the giftcard provided I headed to my local Walmart to pick up a few things I needed to compliment my favorite Salon Perfect lash picks. Since these looks are all about playing up the eyes I found a mini eyeshadow palette by Maybelline (Chic Naturals- 10Q Mocha Motion) for $4.97 and some EOS (Summer Fruit) lip balm for $2.96.
The first look is our “day” look. Makeup for daytime should be more subtle than what you would wear at night. Also with the heat of the summer, less is definitely more. So for both looks we are concentrating on playing up the eyes. On the Maybelline Quad Shadow, the shades are labeled lightest to darkest: base, lid, crease, and liner. Before starting any eye makeup look, I always first apply an eyeshadow primer. For the day look, I swept the lid shade, which is a dusty rose color, all over the lid. I then applied the crease color, which is a charcoal grey, to the outer corner and crease of my eye. I blended it all out and added a highlight with the base color, which is a shimmery cream color, on my brow bone. Next, I curled and applied one of my favorite mascaras to just my upper lashes. I then applied a pair of Salon Perfect Perfectly Natural #53 lashes with the Clear Perfect Brush-On Adhesive. Once my lashes were dried and in place I camouflaged the false lashes by applying some kohl eyeliner in black and smudging it out with the liner shade, a dark charcoal brown, from the Maybelline Chic Naturals Eyeshadow and a liner brush. With the same liner brush I smudge the crease shade under my bottom lashes but did not apply mascara. To finish the look, I applied foundation, concealer, blush, and bronzer as usual and applied the EOS lip balm to my lips since we are keeping them a neutral shade.
For night the application isn’t much different as we are using the same products just in a different way and switching out the lashes. So I first swept the crease shade all over the lid, this is going to give us a smokier eye. I then buffed out any harsh lines with the lid shade concentrating it in the crease. For a highlight, again I used the base color. I then curled and applied my favorite mascara. I then applied the Salon Perfect Perfectly Glamorous Demi Wispies to my top lashes. I swept the crease shade with a liner brush under my bottom lashes just like for our day look but this time I did apply mascara. To finish off our top lashes, I applied some liquid eyeliner, one of my favorites is Maybelline Master Precise in Black, and smudged it with a liner brush and the liner shade from the eyeshadow palette. Again I applied my foundation, concealer, blush, and bronzer as usual and swept a tiny bit of EOS lip balm on to the lips for a natural lip.
