Are you hosting Thanksgiving at your house this year? Preparing your home for holiday guests can be a chore. As a part of the Walmart Moms, I was asked to share my tips for preparing my home for holiday guests. So with the giftcard provided, I went to my local Walmart store to see what I could find to get my home ready for the hustle and bustle of the holidays.
CLEAN! One of the first things I do when preparing my home for holiday guests is I do a thorough cleaning of the major rooms that my guests will most likely visit like the living room, kitchen, and bathrooms. When everything is neat, clean, and organized I feel much more relax when company comes over.
Make your home smell amazing! There is nothing more comforting than walking into a room that just smells good. With wax warmers its easy to get that great, comforting scent without the worry of a flame. These mini wax warmers from Better Homes and Gardens are just $10.00 at Walmart, because they are small they can be plugged into a variety of different places. Put one in the guest bedroom with a relaxing scent or one in the kitchen for an inviting smell to welcome guests to you home. This owl one is in our kitchen and makes the whole room smell like fall with Better Homes and Gardens wax cubes in our favorite scent for just $2.00. Both the large and mini wax warmers from Better Homes and Gardens comes in a variety of different shapes and designs even some holiday themed limited edition ones to match your holiday decor. I like to have a wax warmer in the rooms that are most frequented by guests like the living room, kitchen, and bathroom.
Overnight Guests: for those guests that will be staying with you for a while, it’s best to make them feel at home as much as possible. Nothing can replace “home” but you can provide some home-like comforts like their own soft, blanket to cuddle up with. Walmart has affordable throws that can be used for guests when they visit. Stock your guest room or pack a guest gift basket with some comforting items guests can enjoy away from home like this Royal Lux Plush Throw from Better Homes and Gardens. This incredibly soft throw is only $8.88 at Walmart. It comes in a variety of patterns and guests can take it home with them after they leave as a gift.
Fellow Walmart Mom, Jennae of Green Your Decor has another great idea to update your Master Bath with new accessories in preparation for Holiday guests. By ditching that old shower curtain and replacing it with a new one, one can instantly give a master bathroom a guest welcoming update.
These are just some of the ways that one can get their home ready for holiday guests. How do you get your home ready for company? Do you do anything extra special for the holidays?
