L’oreal recently came out with a new mascara. As a lover of all drugstore makeup, I knew I wanted to try it as soon as possible. The problem was, that it launched in the UK first. And those of us in the States had to wait. After a long wait, the L’oreal Voluminous Miss Manga has started to arrive in drugstores. Each time I would visit a store, I would give the mascaras a once over to see if this particular mascara had arrived.
Finally after a few shops, I found the L’oreal Voluminous Miss Manga mascara at my local Walmart. I’m pretty sure I let out a small squeak of pure joy and maybe a tiny hop when I spotted it. I’ve been holding onto the mascara for a few weeks now, staring at it’s super cute packaging in hopes of filming a first impressions video. But I just couldn’t wait any longer. I broke down and cracked open the packaging the other day to give it a try.
Unlike other mascaras on the market, L’oreal Miss Manga mascara is different in that it has a flexible 360° wand. I liked that this mascara did not have the plastic rubbery bristles. I prefer a more natural bristle mascara wand and this mascara has that in a unique cone shape. The bristles are larger on one end and taper down to a point on the other. The small end is great for reaching those hard to get to lashes on the corners of the eye and makes applying to bottom lashes a little less messy.
My first impression of this mascara was…“Woah, that’s a whole lotta lash!”. This mascara with its voluminous formula provided great volume and I also noticed significant length. The flex in the wand makes for soft and light application. This mascara is also build-able to an extent. For me, I saw the best result with 2-3 coats, anything more than that and my lashes began to clump and stick together. This mascara gives a big, bold look to your lashes with only a few coats and feels soft to the touch once dried. Also, note worthy is that I didn’t have any problems with flaking throughout the day.
For a dramatic eye look, this mascara is great! After using the product several times, application and results improved. The way I like to apply mascara is I wiggle the wand slightly at the root of my lashes before pulling the wand through to the end. This ensures that each and every lash gets a nice coat of mascara and helps to cut down on clumping. Overall, L’oreal Volumnious Miss Manga mascara is a decent mascara. The only thing I’m unsure about is the flexible wand. I think I would prefer the wand without the flex, for me personally, but others may like it. Also, sometimes it is hard to stick to the “only a couple of coats” rule but I’ve found that the less I fiddled applying this mascara the better it looked.
Have you tried this new Miss Manga mascara? What do you think of it?
