The one thing I hate about summer is the grueling heat. In the south, it’s down right scorching during the summer months so when it comes to makeup I try to keep it simple. Walmart asked me to share some of my summer beauty essentials as a part of the Walmart Moms. So I went to my local Walmart store and picked out a few products to put together an easy, quick summer makeup look that looks great either day or night and is also budget friendly.
In the summer, we are all outside enjoying the sunshine no doubt so when it comes to makeup I always try to find products that have SPF in them. The main product that I want to have SPF in it is my foundation. I found the Rimmel London Match Perfection foundation at Walmart with Broad Spectrum SPF 18 in it for just $4.88. This is a great light foundation that hides imperfections while still providing some coverage against accidental exposure to the sun’s harmful rays.
Many opt for BB creams in the summer months because of its light coverage but with a beauty blending sponge like a the London Soho New York Beauty Sponge ($4.97) one can get a cake-free, flawless makeup look no matter what foundation you are using. To use this beauty sponge, simply wet it, squeeze out excess water, and bounce it along your skin to blend in foundation.
When it comes to the eyes, we don’t want anything heavy in the summer months. So for that soft summer makeup look I opted for a Wet n Wild eyeshadow trio in Sweet As Candy. This eyeshadow palette was only $2.93 at Walmart giving the eye a shimmering hint of color with varying pink, brown, and white shades. For eyeliner, I opted for something other than the typical black. Since we are going for a softer look I decided to pick up the NYC Kohl Pencil in 925 Sable ($.93) which is a brownish black color. For mascara, since I opted for a waterproof formula to keep our mascara in place during the heat of summer. Rimmel London Volume Flash Scandaleyes Waterproof Mascara ($4.88) in black gives our lashes just enough definition and fullness to complete our eye look.
Since it is the summer, we need a little color to our cheeks. First, I contoured with NYC Color Wheel Mosaic Face Powder in All Over Bronze Glow ($4.47). This face powder is really a bronzer as it gives the skin just enough glow without any shimmer. For blush, I wanted a pop of pink so I picked up Wet n Wild Heather Silk ($2.93) and lightly dusted it on the tops of my cheekbones for a bit of extra color.
Lips are another area that need sun protection. So, I found a lip balm by Hawaiian Tropic that has SPF 45+ in it for $1.97. This lip balm has a slight tropical flavor and can be worn alone or under your favorite lipstick or lip gloss. Lastly, to finish off my look, keep shine at bay, and make sure that everything is well blending I set my entire look with a transluscent powder and a fluffy brush.
