Once you go gel… you never go back! When it comes to getting a manicure to last, gel is where it is at. The problem is however that some people don’t like the UV lamp that is required for most gel polishes. When it comes to doing it yourself at home, those lamps and gel nail kits can cost a pretty penny. But the thing with gel nail polish is that it really does last and last. It lasts WAY longer than traditional nail polish. So can you get gorgeous gel nails at home without the light?
I’m constantly experimenting with makeup and always willing to try out the latest products making a buzz in beauty. When it comes to nails, I prefer to do them myself. I honestly just don’t have the time to make a nail appointment somewhere. I wish I did but those salon fees can add up quickly. As a night owl, I’d much rather be painting my nails late at night while catching up on my latest TV show obsession than sitting in a strange salon for 30 mins to an hour. But that is just me. Over the years, I’ve tried many different kinds of polishes. I adore Sally Hansen Salon Effects and became a fan of their original gel manicure kit. From the moment I tried my first gel manicure at home, I was hooked. Because of their lasting power, gel manicures are ideal for me during extremely busy weeks or when out of town on a trip when I know that I won’t have the time to repaint them until much later.
As a part of the Walmart Moms, I was sent several colors of Sally Hansen’s newest polish line called Miracle Gel. Unlike traditional gel nail polishes that require a light, Sally Hansen Miracle Gel does not. Yes, you read that right. NO LIGHT! That means that you can paint your nails just like you would normally but still get that lasting gel effect. Talk about awesome! Sally Hansen Miracle Gel polishes can be found at Walmart stores for only $7.97. Sally Hansen Miracle Gel is made with a patented, exclusive gel color system with natural-light curing technology for up to 14 days of shiny color and comes in 45 different shades to match any outfit or special occasion.
As soon as my samples arrived, I couldn’t wait to to try out a few different manicure looks. I even applied Miracle Gel on my toes! Sally Hansen Miracle Gel polishes looks great as a pedicure too! Now onto the nail looks….
For my first manicure, I used the colors 370 Sugar Fix with its beautiful blue hue and paired it with 510 Game of Chromes which is a glittering old gold shade on my accent nail. I loved both of these colors. I especially love the Game of Chromes shade as it will look perfect with my outfit that I’ll be rockin’ this Sunday to cheer on my favorite football team as they battle against my husband’s favorite team.

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel nail polish shades are pretty opaque with just one coat but to prevent brush strokes it’s best to apply two coats just to safe. The nail polish colors self level while the Top Coat smooths everything out and completes your manicure with gorgeous shine! In changing out my manicure, I found that it was best to apply the Miracle Gel Top Coat in a thick layer to prevent any of the color from transferring to the brush.
For my next manicure, I wanted to do an ombre’ look with the remaining colors. These colors compliment each other beautifully when graduating them from light to dark and looks great as a pedicure. On my nails are (thumb to pinky): 170 Pink Cadillaquer, 380 Malibu Beach, 210 Pretty Piggy, 220 Pink Tank, and 470 Red Eye. Just remember that after applying 2 coats of your choice shade of the Miracle Gel polish that it is necessary to apply the Miracle Gel Top Coat after your base color has dried. The Miracle Gel Top Coat is what helps seal in the color and make your manicure last longer.

My manicures lasted a solid week of torture before I saw the slightest tip wear. This is great for me because after a long week I love to pamper myself with a newly painted manicure anyway. Removing this polish is incredibly easy. Unlike ordinary gel polish, Miracle Gel can be removed quickly with regular nail polish remover. I love the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel line so much that it looks like I will need to either build another nail polish rack or get rid of some old polishes to include these beauties as they are definite keepers. I hope to grab a few more colors to add to my collection as well. I definitely need to find the shade 460 Blacky O to complete my manicure look for when my favorite football team plays.Disclosure: As a participant in the Walmart Moms Program, I’ve been compensation for my time and efforts in creating this post as well as provided samples of the products mentioned in this post.
