It may still be a tad bit warm outside still but the cold weather is on it’s way. I, for one, can not wait. I love everything about fall. It’s my favorite season. You just can’t beat the coziness of fall. When it comes to the look of my makeup for the fall season, I like to apply it a bit differently for the cooler months ahead.
I was asked as a part of the Walmart Moms to share how I update my “look” for the change of the season. So I went to my local Walmart store and picked out a few beauty products that will help me transition from summer to fall and last me throughout the season.
I’ve have had my hair light to medium brunette for a while now. My color has grown out and faded so I knew I wanted to start fresh with a new color for fall. When I think of fall haircolor I immediately think of rich red hues. So I picked up the Garnier Nutrisse Nourishing Color Creme in 5R Medium Auburn ($6.97). This color isn’t completely red, it is more of a reddish brown. This color looks beautiful in a variety of different lights and perfect for fall outfits.
All about the Neutrals
When it comes to my fall makeup look, I still prefer to play up my eyes but instead of bright colors I use more neutrals and earth tones. Instead of a harsh dramatic smokey eye, I tone it down and make it more warm with bronze as the main color. At Walmart I found this eyeshadow palette by Maybelline called “The Nudes” for just $9.98. This palette of neutrals is perfect for creating many varying looks from day to night and every fall activity in between.
How-to Bronze Smokey Eye
- First, curl your lashes with an eyelash curler if desired. Then, apply an eyeshadow base or primer all over the lid then with a cool toned taupe and a big fluffy crease brush in windshield wiper motions buff this color into the crease. Also, apply this color to the bottom lash line as well to give them a bit of definition.
- Next, with a small shadow brush the warm bronzy, rose gold color pat that all over the lid but do not pass the crease. Go back with that fluffy crease brush and a bit more color to buff out any harsh edges.
- Then with a clean fluffy brush lightly dust this lightest shade onto your brow bone to open the eye and provide a subtle highlight.
- Lastly, to complete our eye look apply black eyeliner to just your upper lashes. With a small pencil brush or small eyeshadow brush, take the darkest color of the Maybelline “The Nudes” palette and smudge out the eyeliner so that there is no harsh lines along the lash line. Apply a coat of mascara to the top and bottom lashes.
Totally Taupe & Marvelous Mauve
One of my favorite aspects of fall beauty is rocking a dark manicure. I love charcoal greys and deep purples. Taupe is a prefect blend of both colors. Taupe goes great with the jewel tones of Fall so it will look awesome with a majority of outfit choices. My favorite taupe picks for Fall are Maybelline Color Show Nail Lacquer ($2.97) in “Taupe on Trend” paired with “Dust of Bronze” on my accent nails. With a good topcoat these polishes wear well.
To update the look of my lips I decided on a more mauve shade than my typical nude or lipglossed lip. Covergirl Lip Perfection lipstick ($5.98) in 323 Delicious is moisturizing and pigmented to give my lips the right subtle pop of color. This mauve shade is perfect for fall with it’s undertones of purple. When picking a lipcolor for fall, stay away from shimmers or glitters and stick more to the satin or matte shades.
With just a few new products added to my already favorites from summer, I’m able to easily freshen up my look for the fall.
