At the beginning of the month I told you about an awesome gardener/chef gift for the holidays called Aerogarden 3SL that is available exclusively at Walmart. If you haven’t read that post yet make sure you check it out first. I was sent one to try out for myself as a part of the Walmart Moms to see if I could grow something in my kitchen using the product? Well, if you’ve been following me on instagram you have already seen some sneak peeks here and there. But here is my official report on how my Aerogarden has performed over the last 19 days.
As I mentioned in my first post, setting up an AeroGarden is incredibly easy and only require a few steps. The unique plant pods that are inserted into the holes on the AeroGarden has all of the hard work done for you. All you need to do is fill the unit with water and liquid nutrients that are provided every few weeks. Miracle-Gro has even taken the guess work out of when you need add more nutrients for you as there is a light indicator built into the AeroGarden 3SL unit that will alert you when there needs to be more nutrients added to the water. There is no weeding or tending really needed to grow a beautiful indoor garden with the AeroGarden because the plants grow in there container pods and water. The only thing you have to worry about is every couple of weeks making sure to add more liquid nutrients when the light indicates and keeping an eye on the water level of your container through the see-through window at the front of your Aerogarden 3SL. When your plants start growing you also need to keep an eye on how tall they get, when they begin to touch the light you simply move the light up a couple of notches (it’s adjustable which is pretty cool).
As I mentioned in my starting post, I planted 2 lettuce plants and one curly parsley plant. The parsley had the longest germination time so naturally it is the last one to sprout. At first I was a little worried that it wasn’t going to sprout at all but I was just a little too anxious to see it grow. However, I am happy to report that the curly parsley sprouted earlier this week just like the estimated time on the seed pod said that it would. And as you can see in the photos, the lettuce has grown like crazy! I almost have enough lettuce to make a small salad, which I can’t wait to try.
I have been having so much fun watching my garden grow each and every day from the comfort of my kitchen. I have my AeroGarden 3SL set up right next to our refrigerator so every time I go to get a drink, I can see its progress. For those curious about the light, it is completely automatic. You don’t have to remember to turn it on and off, it does it by itself the set number of hours it is supposed to operate. The only “sound” that one can hear is the circulation of the water from the pump in the front of the unit. It sounds like a fish tank, quiet and soothing.
I honestly can not say enough good things about theMiracle-Gro Aerogarden 3SL available at Walmart ($49.95). I love the simplicity and ease of use. I like how one can easily grow something with very little effort which fits in perfectly with my busy schedule. Each and every time I see the AeroGarden lit up in my kitchen it puts a smile on my face. And my kids are just as excited about it as I am. Each day they report to me the growth progress that they have noticed. So really the AeroGarden is fun for the entire family! It is one of those products that you didn’t know you needed till you get it and then you wonder why you never tried one before. By using the AeroGarden the last few weeks it has completely changed the way that I look at gardening now. I may just stick to indoor gardening that I can do all year round and I’m already researching what other Miracle-Gro seed pods I can grow next. For those that love gardening or cooking this will make an awesome unique gift that they will continue to enjoy each and every day.
