Second Trimester!
s
Woo-hoo! This week I made it to the second trimester. Fun stuff happens in the second trimester, among those are that I will get to feel the bean kick, I will find out the sex, and I will finally start to look preggers [and not just fat].
Besides being sensitive to smells and having sicknesses back to back the first trimester went pretty smoothly. I gained a total of 10 lbs. my first trimester. Now if I can keep up the 10 lbs. per trimester then I will be doing good.
For all of those that want to see what my tummy looks like now, here is a photo [to the right]. With my top down it just looks like I ate too much or have alot of weight in the middle area. ha ha.
Does anyone else see that pointy spot on my tummy? What is that? Weird.
I have been feeling very nesty lately. I put up our christmas tree and holiday decorations 2 weeks early. I have rearranged the living room, several times. Now I have a desire to ebay unwanted junk! I remember being nesty with pnut but not this early.
I have this strong urge to prepare and buy stuff needed for the baby. I know I can’t do this just yet because we don’t know if the bean is a he [likely]or a she. I have picked out several boy crib sets that I like. I still have the crib set that I used with the pnut so I will probably just use that one with the baby if it is a boy but it is fun to look. I just can’t get into looking for stuff for girls. I am immediately drawn to the boy stuff. I do have strong doubts that this child will be a girl. Maybe that is part of it or maybe it is because I have already got a boy so that is just what I am used to looking for.
No commentspregnant yogi
Alot of you might know that I claim to be a yogi. Not one of those diehard, tree huggin’, vegan type yogi’s by any means. Just a simple person that enjoys doing yoga on a semi-regular basis. The trouble with me and my yoga practice is that we don’t meet often enough. I start out on my yoga routine for a couple days and then quickly fade away into being a lazy couch potatoe. No matter how I start out I quickly crash and burn.
I love the idea of keeping up my yoga practice into my pregnancy but I have a feeling that once I get really big and round that I’ll lose interest and stop doing it all together. What can I do to stay motivated? I don’t want to crash and burn this time. I feel that if I do keep it up throughout my pregnancy that it won’t be as hard to get the pregnancy weight off once I’ve given birth like it did with my first child.
Lets face it, any physical activity outside is out of the question just because it is too cold! Yoga just fits me. Its easy, I always see results, and it releases all of my built up tensions.
Hopefully writing this post will be my motivation. Besides if I go through this holiday season with no excersise at all, I’m going to gain 20 lbs. Ok, everyone wish me luck. And feel free to check up on me. Just ask me if if I’m doing my yoga.
*btw, I did 30 mins of yoga this morning. planning on doing another hour and a half.
No commentsRound Ligament Pain @ 10-12 weeks
For the past couple of weeks, I’ve been experiencing round ligament pain. I had RLP when I was pregnant with my son but I remember it as being much later in the pregnancy and not this early. RLP isn’t fun at all. It happens usually when I get up to go make supper, around the same time everyday. But RLP isn’t anything to be alarmed about it, it is just simply apart of being pregnant. If you don’t know what round ligament pain is go to this website and check it out. Educate yourself!
No commentsDoctor’s Appointment: 12 weeks
So, I had a doctors appointment again today. Yesterday was an ultrasound, today the doctor. Visit went well. He found the heartbeat and confirmed my due date of May 25th. I did the usual pee sample which is always fun *sarcasm*. They took my weight, and I’m already topping the scale at 137 lbs. That means I’ve gained 3 lbs. in the past two weeks and have gained a total of 10 lbs. since I found out that I was preggers. Goodness! If I keep this weight gaining thing up I’ll be as big as a house. What I don’t understand is that I haven’t really been eating alot, I mean nothing out of the ordinary like that week with my folks. So I don’t understand why I’m gaining so rapidly. Maybe my body just retains fat when I’m pregnant. I usually have something light for breakfast, a decent lunch, and a good supper. For snacks I eat fruit so why am I gaining so rapidly? I can’t figure it out. I’m not doing anything different now than when I wasn’t pregnant. Weird!
No commentsUltrasound Photos.
Today, I had my first ultrasound. The ultrasound was to determine how far along I was. Well according to the ultrasound I am 12 weeks and 5 days and due on May 25th. I have a doctors appointment tomorrow for confirmation. So I know ya’ll are just dying to see pictures of “The Bean” [yes, I’ve changed his nickname again because of two thing 1. I really like it and 2. kumquat just isn’t catching on], so here they are…
Opening and closing mouth: swallowing amniotic fluid
During the ultrasound the bean waved at us and was also opening and closing his mouth as if to say hello. Up until now it hasn’t felt “real”, like I was really pregnant. But after seeing the little guy it hits home, finally. It was the same way with p-nut, I just felt fat up until the ultrasound.
No commentsRescheduled
Today, we were SUPPOSED to have an ultrasound. Well I called hubby at work about 2ish and told him he had to be here by 2:45 no later than 3 because we had to be at the ultrasound place in the next town by 3:15 [30 mins before our actual appointment]. He said ok, but he is in a meeting so he would have to call me back. Well, he called me back and they said he couldn’t leave and that he’d be here as soon as he could. Well he ended up showing up at 3:30. We booked it to the next time and arrived at the ultrasound place at 3:50. Lady makes us wait for 45 mins while she try to find the ultrasound tech. After waiting she so graciously informs us that everyone has left! So we had to reschedule. Because the rude operator couldn’t get us in the rest of the week they could only do it next Monday. This time I got a morning appointment. Hubby says he probably won’t go into work until after the ultrasound. We’ll see. Personally, I think bosslady had something to do with hubby not being able to leave the meeting. Before the “incident” she was all for hubby being at all my doctors appointments now it seems that although she still approves it she will try to make him late to every one.
Sorry to all the people that wanted to see little baby pictures today. Ya’ll will have to wait till next week.
No commentsSickness Round 2: Cold
P-nut got a cold sometime last week and has so graciously passed it on to me. It seems like just as soon as I get well, I get sick again. Ah, pregnancy, how I DON’T miss you! Anyway, I’ve gone threw it all in the past couple of days. From a sore throat to a runny nose, watery eyes to losing my voice. It hasn’t been fun and tylenol hasn’t been cutting it. I’ve been miserable yet again. I just can’t seem to get well. I’m only 2 months preggers and already I can’t wait till this baby is out! Sad….just sad.
No commentsFirst Doctor’s Appointment
I had my first preggy doctor’s appointment today. First of all my doctor during this pregnancy is a MAN! Now, I despise man-gyno’s, I just think something is messed up if a man wants to look at sick kooty-kats all day long but that is just me, so whatever. Anyways, that is the only gyno here in this small town and he just moved here from Texas and doesn’t even have his own office yet. He is currently working out of an Eye, Ear, and Nose Allergy center [that is where I had my appointment] until they finish building the hospital here. They don’t even have a hospital here, isn’t that crazy! After the initial shock of all this and hating where I live they did the normal routine tests. They weighed me [I’m topping in at 134 lbs!!! can you believe it? that week of eating sure did a number on my tummy!!!], made me pee in a cup [a came prepared with full bladder,
], took my blood, and did a pap test which HURT! I’ve never had a pap smear that hurt before. The doctor said that I’d probably have some spotting later on and I sure did. It was really weird to have a pap smear not only that hurt but also that made me bleed.
The nurse is really friendly and the doctor is creepy but nice. They’ll have to do for the time being I guess. I have an ultrasound scheduled for Monday since I don’t remember the date of my last period which was sometime in August. So there should be some pictures soon! Hopefully we’ll be able to determine if “Kumquat” is a good nickname or not. With my son, his first ultrasound he looked just like a p-nut. The doctor predicts that I’m somewhere between 8-10 weeks. With pnuts first ultrasound I was 11 weeks so we shall see.
