I Heart FREE stuff!

Jan 30, 2006 Author: The Domestic Diva | Filed under: Freebies

I am a stickler for free stuff off of the internet. I’m always looking for companies that are sending out their latest products for free! I don’t like to think of myself as cheap, I prefer the word frugal. I look at it this way, way pay for something when you can probably get it for free if you do your research.

The latest goodies my mailbox has graced me with:

Procrastination

Jan 28, 2006 Author: The Domestic Diva | Filed under: Commercial Break

I am having a huge problem with procrastination. I keep putting housework off. This week has been absolutely terrible for me. I start messing around on the web or start watching something on TV and the next thing I know it is 10 o’clock at night and I haven’t done anything productive.

I am supposed to go to the grocery store today, but I absolutely despise going on the weekend. I would much rather prefer to go during the middle of the week whilst everyone else is at work and the shelves are fully stocked than to go and tackle the crowds. As I sit here and type this it is going on 5 o’clock and I barely have the grocery list finished. I just can’t get motivated to do anything. I hate this feeling. I am somewhat motivated in my mind but my body isn’t responding to what my brain is telling it to do.

On another note, I have updated the site layout. I’m still in the process of making it look absolutely perfect so bare with me. Another result of my procrastination, I’m avoiding the whole housework thing if you couldn’t tell. I can’t figure out how to make a transparent gif in psp9, whenever I do it it just makes a white background. I can make a png image but it is only transparent in firefox not internet explorer so if you are viewing this in internet explorer sorry for the ugly header, much apologies. If anyone has any helpful hints please pass them along.

[edit] finally figured out how to make a transparent gif. I couldn’t let myself leave the house knowing my website wasn’t working in both browsers. I am off to blowdry my hair and go to the grocery store. Hopefully there won’t be alot of people out now that it is 8 o’clock @ night. [/edit]

[edit] just to let you know, it is now 1 in the morning and I just got back from the grocery store…lol.  I can’t remember the last time I went to the grocery store this late. Wal-mart was still buzzing as usual with the aisles blocked off by the shipment crews (very hard to shop in there).  Kroger was like a ghost town, many of the lights were off in the meat and veggie sections, I thought they were going to close or something but as well all know Kroger is 24 hours.  It felt weird to be in there by myself…lol…completely different from Wally World.

Some weird off the wall items that I purchased today…

  • Borax
  • Washing Soda
  • 8th Continent Light Chocolate Soy milk

It was my first time buying any of these items, I’ll explain what I’m going to do with them later. [/edit]

Scatter-brained

Jan 23, 2006 Author: The Domestic Diva | Filed under: Commercial Break

Last night for whatever reason unknown to me, I didn’t watch Desperate Housewives or Grey’s Anatomy. I was channel surfing last night just watching a bunch of crap I wasn’t even into until 11 o’clock when it finally dawned on me that it was SUNDAY NIGHT!!!! The one night a week when I actually look forward to watching something. I cannot believe that I didn’t even realize that it was Sunday. I cannot believe I missed my favorite shows. What is wrong with me? I have no idea what day it is anymore.

[edit] Thanx to youtube.com, I have just watched the Grey’s Anatomy episode that I missed…with NO Commercials!  It was such a good episode, I am so bummed I missed it on TV, you know some internet video isn’t the best of quality but who is complaining at least I got to see it and didn’t have to wait for reruns. [/edit]

Today I felt like taking some more recent pics of myself, so I did some elaborate makeup and did a little something different with my hair. Here are the results:

Good Day

Jan 13, 2006 Author: The Domestic Diva | Filed under: Commercial Break

All in all I am definately feeling better except for the recent visiting of good ol’ Aunt Mary [so to everyone that thought I was pregnant, you were wrong, I was really sick so stop asking]. My headache of 5 days is finally gone. I finally have some energy back.

Today started out good, took the hubby to work then headed over to my folks house to pay my father [who just had knee surgery] a visit. He had fun playing with the p-nut and giving him cranraisins, oatmeal cookies, and string cheese. We then played in the backyard a while [me and p-nut played chase]. Father needed me to take some bills to the post office for him since he couldn’t drive. So we left after a couple of hours went to the post office and the library. I got some books to read to the p-nut before bed and a couple books for me as well. I really wanted to read that book on Oprah’s book club list “A million little pieces” but there is like a HUGE waiting list for it. If I were to even attempt to get on the list it would be like 5 years before I even see the book. I’m thinking of just buying it from a local bookstore. It is only like $10 on sale. After we went to the library, I stopped by Arby’s and got me and the p-nut a late lunch [arby melts and potatoe cakes]. P-nut ate the whole sandwich and potatoe cake…lol. After he ate we had to go back home so that he could take a nap.

I was going to go to the grocery store today but decided that I wanted to make out a menu for next week first. Create a couple new recipes to try as well. I will probably be doing that the rest of the night.

I have about 3 baskets of laundry that I still need to fold that I have been putting off for days now. Have I mentioned how much I hate doing laundry? I can’t stand it! I will wash and dry until my heart is content but the whole act of folding just drains the life out of me. I’m still trying to conquer the whole folding clothes thing but I just cannot for the life of me get myself motivated to do it. I don’t know what the deal is, I just really hate to do it.

Heh

Well I am still not feeling so hot, I believe I have the stomach flu or something similar.  Anyway, I’ve been lying around watching DVD’s for the past couple of days, doing housework whenever the spurt of energy hits me.

I’m sorry if you tried to visit my blog earlier this morning or late last night, there were apparently some Yahoo server problems and it was affecting the Wordpress aspect of people’s sites.  I hope that the issue has been fixed [*keeps fingers crossed*].

Well I’m not feeling good again, back to the DVD’s…

I feel icky!

Jan 8, 2006 Author: The Domestic Diva | Filed under: Commercial Break

sickgirl.png I am so nauseous right now. I don’t know what is wrong with me or what I have but I am nauseous [haven’t thrown up yet], my stomach hurts right under my belly button [actually my whole abdomine hurts], i have a huge headache, i can’t concentrate on anything, I have a mild fever [99.6 last time i checked], whenever I stand up I get real light-headed, I feel so tired [no matter how much I sleep, I still feel the same as if I haven’t slept in a week].crygirl.png

I’m going to finish watching Desperate Housewives and Grey’s Anatomy and then it is bedtime for me. I think I am going to take some NyQuil to help me sleepnotsuregirl.png.

Semi-Good Day

Jan 6, 2006 Author: The Domestic Diva | Filed under: Commercial Break

Well today, I woke up immediately got dressed, took hubby to work, came home and immediately jumped on the treadmill for 15 mins. [100 calories burned]. I then had some p-nut time, put him down for his morning nap, and started our lunch [hamburger helper-cheeseburger macaroni]. After lunch we had 15 mins of playtime outside [since it is so cold], when I brought him back inside he threw the biggest fit in the world. I let him cry it out until he decided to come and help mommy “bless” other people by getting rid of some of his stuffed animals [well he just played with some toy he forgot he had and I did all the work]. “Blessing” is when you declutter your house by giving your unwanted, unused, probably won’t touch again items to Goodwill or other places/people. I filled up another bag today! I’m doing pretty good with the decluttering part. Tomorrow I’m going to try to tackel some of the kitchen stuff that I don’t use or that is broken that I for some reason wanted to hang on to, hopefully I’ll fill up another bag then. I look at it this way, the more I give away, the more I don’t have to clean.

Hubby is loving the new organizational thing that I’m doing. He still thinks that I am going to fall off the band wagon and go back to my old ways, but I don’t want that to happen and I am really trying my best to just make this a habit so it won’t result in me going back to my old ways.

Anywho, on a completely other note…I watched a new show tonight called “the book of daniel”, now I was a little skeptical at first because I thought it was going to be real blasphemous, in which case I couldn’t tolerate watching it; but it really wasn’t. I really did like the show. I hope it continues to be as good as it was tonight [all 2 hours of it] or at least stay on for a while so I can watch it, even if no one else does.

Back to my flylady stuff, I am in the process of creating my control journal, I want to post a picture of it when I get it completely finished. It is really cute and a create motivational tool for me. I’ll explain that when I post a picture.

Anyway, I’m going to go get on the treadmill before I go to bed so I’ll be good and tired. I am hoping to be in bed by at least 12. My plan is to keep moving back the time I go to bed so that I am in bed no later than 11 and up no later than 8 EVERYDAY!!! I figure 11 is a good time because I am usually watching something on TV that comes on at 10 and doesn’t go off till 11, so I could hit the sack right after my tv show and have dreams about whatever episode I just watched. Does anyone have some tv shows that they are addicted to? My main ones right now is Grey’s anatomy, Desperate Housewives, and Nip/Tuck! Anyways, p-nut will have a bedtime of 8 and I will have a bedtime of 11. We will both be up no later than 8 am and we will be happy happy clams, at least I hope we will be.

Speaking of the p-nut, I hope he doesn’t wake up from the noise of the treadmill. I want him to stay asleep all through the night. Problem about living in a studio apartment is that everything is joined together and their is NO ROOMS! so everything that is going on can be heard everywhere. Alot of times p-nut will wake up just from the sound of me typing, but he usually falls right back to sleep. Good thing.

OH, one other thing before I go workout, me and my mother went and looked at some houses for rent around our neighborhood.  We found two, I called about both of them and one is already rented out [the one i really liked, darn!] and the other one hubby didn’t sound too thrilled about but it has to be better than this place.  Besides it looks exactly like my folks and granny’s houses, same layout and everything.  I think it would be perfect for us.  Anyway, who knows when we will ever move, but at least I’m looking.

Grocery/Errand Day Accomplished!

Jan 5, 2006 Author: The Domestic Diva | Filed under: Commercial Break, "the Diet"

I just completed my first grocery/errand day with flylady.net. I almost did everything I wanted to do…

I went to goodwill and donate a huge trash bag full of old toys [decluttering]

I payed a bill for my hubby [he sprung this on me on the last minute so instead of going to the library i went there instead, gotta prioritize…i am hoping to go to the library tomorrow]

I went to the grocery store completely organized and only bought a couple things off of my list. [very good considering i could do alot worse and get completely side tracked]

I came home to a fairly clean home, everything was picked up [all that was on the floor were my sons cheerios that he had been eating before we left, man those things get everywhere!], sink just a shinin’ when I walked in the door, all in all a very productive organized day. I haven’t check all of my e-mails for today so I am a little behind in that but I am hoping to catch up tomorrow.

We had a little treat for supper today, hubby ordered some pizza. We haven’t ordered or gone out to eat in a while [which is a good thing, i am not complaining, i love to cook, and their isn’t no telling how many calories are in a fast food burger or slice of pizza], but the bad thing is I ate 3 slices! That is almost half a pizza. I weighed myself this morning and I lost 2 lbs [making me to be at 125 lbs.], but I believe I just ate it all back in one sitting. I’m hoping to get a few minutes in on the treadmill tonight before I go to bed. I don’t know how long I’ll be able to stay on their because my knee has been hurting ever since I got home from my errands. I don’t know why it is hurting because I even wore my ugly knee brace to do my running around because I knew I was going to be doing a lot of walking.

Well I’m off to go read to my son before I put him down for the night [ i know it is late, we are a little off schedule].
