A couple hours after I get the bean for the day he decides to take a poo. I go to change his pamper and it is green, gooey, and oh so smelly. I do my duty and clean him up. In the process the bean decides to roll over on his side in attempt to eat the bathroom rug. Then I saw it. What appeared to be black and blue bruises all over his tiny little booty. I immediately started freaking out. I ran to the phone and called bosslady. At this point I’m shaking in fear. “Did I do something wrong?” I asked her if something was wrong with his bootay. She said no and put me on hold. Uh, Hello! I’m freaking out here don’t put me on hold. She comes back after about 5 mins or so and explains to me that nothing is wrong with his booty he just has “blueberries”. The bean is multiracial just like p-nut is but he is just a little bit darker and has thin straight hair. She said that it is a birthmark that is characteristic of african americans. According to her they come and go. I swear last week he didn’t have a blue butt. She said her hubby and his family has them. She said she had never heard of them either and started freaking out when she first saw it as well. I tried to do a google search on it but couldn’t find anything or any photos. Here is the one photo I found that sort of resembles his bootay, the mark isn’t that dark though, think bruise-like, faint black and blue marks. The poor kid looks like he has been beaten but it obviously doesn’t hurt or he wouldn’t be able to sit. Scared me to death. You’d think that someone would let a caregiver know if they gave birth to a child that is part smurf!

Had to smile at the smurf comment:) Actually my best friend adopted her kids from Korea and her oldest also has a similar type of mark. His are more of a brown color though, not black and blue. The first time I saw his, I thought it was a dirt mark on his back.

Aww… lol
Last year [when I was working at a child development center with infants] we had an infant like that too. It looked like bruises as well. We had to report it and the mother explained what it really was.
:-)
I’m glad everything’s a-ok!
