In practice, it is SO HARD to save, and when something significant comes up it is gone in 2 seconds flat. I've been on a mission to build our savings account for the past year now...and we've drained it more than built it, so trust me, you are not the only ones. And the bad part is, we don't even have kids!!! $1,000 {in theory} sounds easy to save, and seems as if it would last a life-time.
