So, I was just sitting there watching my daily soap [Days of our Lives, if you care] and there was this commercial that came on for gifts.com. They were talking about how they can help you find everything you need for the people on your list. They listed 3 types of people. “The Domestic Diva” was the second one. Now I know they weren’t mentioning me, my site, or any of my domestication skill at all but I just thought it was neat that my internet alias was out there on a commercial. It will be fun to see how many people come to this site because of that commercial.
Today, hubby took me and the pnut out for a movie day! I haven’t been to an actual movie theatre since Hitch was in theatres almost two years ago. I didn’t realize how much I missed the “BIG” screen, loud speakers, and salty popcorn. So what movie did we see? The adorable, Happy Feet, of course. Pnut made it threw about half the movie, as expected, but he was singing and dancing up and down in his seat. It was so cute to see him, enjoying the little penguins dancing. When the scary seal part came up, he was really scared though. I didn’t like the seal part either. Too creepy. So it was a good day with the hubby. I kinda miss the quality time with hubby.

over how moist and delicious that turkey was. Everything was cooked perfectly golden without a single dish being burnt. What was on the menu today? It took only 3 hours to cook all of the food [except for the pies which I cooked yesterday]. I started the turkey this morning at 8:30 after I took my shower. He took only 2 hrs to cook! So while he cooked, I made the macaroni, yams, and green beans. When the turkey came out of the oven, I let him rest for a whole hour so all of his juices could redistribute. In the time while the turkey was resting, I cooked what needed to be cooked in the oven. I’ll post I posted some recipes for some of the dishes I prepared on Recipe Rush by Monday, so go check them out.
Do ya’ll have any thanksgiving traditions? We watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade and light the christmas tree that night. The parade and the turkey is what really makes the day for me. Lots of memories behind those two events. From dad setting the carport on fire trying to fry his first turkey to sitting on the couch in my pjs as a we little tot watching all the broadway acts [usually singing along] and balloons during the parade.
Fun, Fun. I’m going to go get a slice of pumpkin pie and go into a turkey coma, just to wake and do it all over again. Rinse, Lather, REPEAT!
Wow, what a day! I’ve been going non-stop since 6 this morning. What have we been doing? For starters I’ve done the majority of my sons christmas/birthday shopping. I’ve gotten all of the forgotten ingredients for Turkey Day except for the roasting pan. Finished decorating the tree. Then I spent a small amount of time admiring my 2 dozen roses that hubby brough home from work last night. Envious. You know you are. Ok, so because I am dead tired I’ll just post the pictures and call it a night.
Our Christmas tree complete with a few presents
My first fireplace with stockings hung with care
I’ve been soooo busy the past couple of days that I’m utterly exhausted. The week started off with plumbers. You see we’ve been renting this house for 6 months now and not once have we been able to use our master bath. Why? Well, it has been clogged with something unknown to us. We told the landlord for day we got here and he said to try the stuff at the store for unclogging drains and if that doesn’t work then to let him know. Finally, we got fed up and after trying every product at the store, we told the landlord. He couldn’t fix it because of the 5 inches of standing water in our shower so he FINALLY CALLED A PLUMBER! They came out on Monday and looked at the problem and said they had to come back the next day to “snake it”. Fine, whatever. Next day they come and finally get the shower drain fixed so we can finally take showers in our master bath. GREAT!
Wednesday, I get this major urge to put up all of the christmas decorations. I usually wait until Thanksgiving night but I just couldn’t help it. I promised myself that I would go ahead and put up all the decorations but wouldn’t light the tree until Thanksgiving night. So I’ve have the tree up and decorated, stockings hung over the fireplace with care, and an urge to buy garland to go on the mantel above the fireplace. Ahhh, christmas!
Thursday, I spend the majority of the day creating my own business website. Thanks for the encouragement from Ro, I’ve decided to go into business for myself. Alot of people have always commented on my freezer paper art and have always suggested that I sell them so now I actually am. So to go and check out my business site, go here…

And btw, thank you Ro for coming up with a name also. I just love it! If anyone has any questions, comments, or suggestions about the new business please drop me a line at:

Friday, the biggest day of the week, was shopping day! Shopping for maternity clothes, shopping for Thanksgiving dinner, shopping, shopping, shopping! *Please note that if you have tendonitis of the knee please where your goofy looking knee brace so you don’t have to be hobbling around the next day with a swollen knee.* Eight hours of shopping isn’t fun for the tendonitis. In fact, it just makes it mad and inflamed. Heed the warning.
Out of all the places that I bought maternity clothes not one of them had any decent looking pants. They were all old lady looking or had that big belly pouch thing. I like the demi-bands, not the belly pockets just because I don’t like having to pull my pants up to my boobs. So all I got in the way of maternity was alot of shirts [majority long sleeved, some short in case I get really hot whenever I get fat-er] and one pair of pants [black with demi-band, and too big for me to wear now].
So since I won’t be able to see my family, for the first time in my life, for thanksgiving I’m going to make my own family thanksgiving dinner. I’ve never cooked a turkey before so to avoid Turkey Day Disaster I got one of these turkeys that have all the preparations done and all I have to do is thaw him out and stick him in the oven. Shopping for all the comforts of a home-type turkey dinner quickly became extremely frustrating. One thing that is a must at my turkey dinners are Candied Yam Patties. No store in my area has them nor have they even heard of them. Everytime I asked they looked at me like I was crazy and pointed me to the yucky canned yam section.
Then they didn’t have any pork boulion, it makes your green beans taste like pork without buying a ham hock, just chicken and beef. Typical. So then I was on a search for ham hock. Three stores later I finally find some! Sheesh!!! This state is full of good food deprived people. Oh and don’t get me started about them not having Reeses Sticks, my absolute favorite candy…EVER!
I also purchased some supplies for my first order over at Craftique.
I should get the shirts done today and shipped off on Monday. I can’t believe I have a customer already. And to the customer, you know who you are
, many, many thank you’s.
So after such an exhausting week, what do you think I’m going to do today. Well lets see…
I wish I could just sit around and do nothing and let my knee un-inflame itself but I can’t. Busy, busy, busy…that I am….busy, busy, bee.
I finally got around to editing the halloween photos. I know it is like 3 weeks late or so, but better late than never right? So you are probably wondering what we were and what we did. Well the Friday before halloween we went to the local zoo for HallowZOOeen. It was lots of fun. That night I dressed up like a witch and p-nut dressed up as a giraffe. It was really neat to be at the zoo at night. You would walk all over the zoo and go to different stations and get candy. GOOD candy, I might add. All hershey’s products. And the best part is that we could eat it right away and not worry about the bad people putting poison or something in it because we were at the zoo. Also, this was the last day that my parents were in town to visit so they got to see pnut do a little trick or treating. Here are a few photos of what we looked like.
On halloween day. I dressed pnut up as soon as he woke up because I knew we would be going to different stores that day trying to find glow sticks and stuff for that night. P-nut was a Tiger this day and I just painted half of my face a bunch of crazy colors with eyeshadow. I was going to do both eyes but opted to just do half of my face instead. I even dressed up the mutt in a witch outfit, he was so cute…ha ha. Lets just say the mutt didn’t like the hat too much. Hubby actually dressed up too! They were doing a sports theme at work so he dressed up as a CHEERLEADER! He was the ugliest cheerleader I had ever seen. He even got the make-up ladies to do his makeup [it took him 3 days to get the eyeliner off of his eyes]. Onto the photos…
When it came time to go trick or treating that night. I had to drive around for at least an hour and a half trying to find some neighborhood that had kids out. It was crazy.
The weekend after halloween, hubby had a kids day at his job. They had lots of fun stuff for the kids to do. One of the workers even dressed up as spider man. Here is a photo. Pnut loved the spiderman for some reason. He wouldn’t go up to him but he would wave “bye” everytime he would leave the area. There was a segment where everyone started dancing, even hubby. I can’t believe hubby got up on stage and started dancing to the Macarana [sp?]. First of all hubby doesn’t dance, he has no rhythm and second he didn’t even know the macarana, who doesn’t know the macarana? Well, here is a video for proof that hubby should have just sat this one out…
Hubby is the one on the far right. From left to right you have some girl [that definately doesn’t have rhythm] that works with hubby, spiderman also a fellow employee, an audience member that was teaching everyone the macarana, and hubby.
