Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketThe lovely folks at PBN offered to allow me to review a new book called Get a Hobby!. Once I finally was able to snag a couple of minutes to myself I realized that I really need to get a hobby. But upon analyzing my overly active schedule I realize that I already sort of have a hobby and that is blogging. I love to blog. I wish I could blog all day but with a newborn and a two year old that is near impossible. But apparently if you have a hobby it supposedly boosts your mental health. I can see how this is possible since blogging helps me connect to my “grown-up” side. For approximately fifteen to thirty minutes a day I am able to go from “mommy brain” to a “civilized adult” in a matter of minutes. This, in a way, helps me keep my sanity.

My son and I also have a hobby of sorts and that is finding some time to bake together. We both enjoy the time together that we are able to create something delicious for the rest of the family. With so much of my time being devoted to the newborn, I feel that this “baking time” is extremely important for my son and I to share together. I love that everytime I go into our kitchen my son quickly gets his apron and asks to cook. I love that my sons favorite hobby is cooking with his mother.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and wish to try out more of the great hobbies that they had listed. Maybe once the boys are a little older and in school I will bring the book out again and find something to occupy my time while I wait for them to come home from their first day of kindergarten.
