Interracial Dating

Jul 30, 2007 Author: The Domestic Diva | Filed under: Commercial Break

When I pictured my life as a teenager. I never in my wildest dreams thought that I would be married to a black man and be a stay at home mom to an interracially blended family. I can honestly say that it never crossed my mind that I would be attracted to a black guy. But when I saw my husband, or shall I say soon to be husband, at my first day of work nearly 5 years ago I just knew that he was something special. I didn’t see color, I just saw a great personality and someone that I loved to hang out with.

Now that I am in an interracial marriage, I see interacial singles all over the place. Everywhere I go I see cute interacial couples young and old alike. They always look to be the happiest couples on the block. There are lots of stereotypes and dirty looks that come with being in an interacial relationship but eventually you get over and figure out that no matter what other people think or tell you, you know who you are and you know who you love. Never let other people dictate how you should be happy. You have to live your life not them.

Would you eat this?

You see that photo? Can you guess what it is?

It is SUPPOSED to be my husband’s birthday cake. Do you think you would eat that? I don’t think so. It looks so horrible and gross. I pride myself in being a very good cook but today was just not my day in the kitchen. I tried out a new recipe for hubby’s birthday cake and lets just say it didn’t come out as planned. My husband loves strawberries so I decided to do a really strawberry tasting cake by adding real strawberries and some other goodies. Well my mother called while the cake was in the oven and lets just say I didn’t hear the timer. It got burnt. Then it stuck to the bottom of the pan and just looks like a big pile of mess. I could slap some frosting on it but then it wouldn’t be my “Domestic Diva Best”. I can’t present this messed up cake to my husband for his birthday. That is just awful.

Oh but the day gets worse. I was at my sewing machine attempting to make hubby a swank new shirt and a pair of pants for his birthday when…MY SEWING MACHINE BROKE. Great so now I have NO cake and NO present. What kind of wife am I?

I feel horrible and I’m pissed at myself that my day has gone so horribly wrong.

*just remembered that she was making pot roast for dinner*
*runs back to computer*

GRIEF! Can you believe this. I burnt the roast too. Dinner is ruined!!! Man today is not my day. I must be extremely “mommy brain dead” today.

That is it. I’m throwing in the towel. I’m not doing anything else for the rest of the day. I’m DONE!

*hubby if you read this, I’m really sorry. I tried. I really did. But you see, today obviously wasn’t my day. I couldn’t even make ice today if I tried. Sorry, I’ll make it up to you later {wink, wink, ;) nudge, nudge}*

Thoof

Jul 30, 2007 Author: The Domestic Diva | Filed under: Commercial Break

Thoof is a new online personalized news website that allows you to submit your own stories into the mix to drive more traffic to your website. When I look at Thoof I think, of another fellow, more popular social bookmarking website. It is the same concept.

It is so easy to submit stories to Thoof. I recently submitted my first contest post for the one time use digital camera in hopes that more people will enter. I know I have tons of readers because site stats don’t lie, people just don’t comment as often as they should. I hope that fellow readers of this new personalized news website like to leave comments as well.

Thoof can be a great resource for website owners. It is an easy way to get the word out about your website. Whenever you submit a story to Thoof, they will automatically give you a code to place a Thoof “badge” on your website that shows you how popular that post is on the thoof website. It is really easy to add the code. All you have to do is copy and past it into your post. The more you have other websites “digging” your web content the more traffic you are going to get to your website which in turn will increase you page ranking. Increased page ranking means MORE money for those that choose to make money with their websites.

Marriage Counseling

Jul 29, 2007 Author: The Domestic Diva | Filed under: Commercial Break

Marriage counseling isn’t just for couples that seem to be having problems in their marriage. At Seattle area marriage counseling they teach counseling to all kinds of couples. Those with troubles and those that aren’t. You can learn alot from marriage counseling. Sometimes you won’t see eye to eye with your spouse so a counselor can teach you how to work out your problems verbally instead of getting mad and leaving. If you don’t talk out your problems with one another then problems will never get solved.

I do know that often times before a pastor will ever consider marrying a couple they must complete a course in marriage counseling. That alone should tell you that counseling shouldn’t be a word that scares or frightens you. Counseling doesn’t always mean that you are getting a divorce. It is a step. A step of admittance that there are things in your life or marriage that needs to be addressed. It is a realization that results in a counselor teaching you the method to resolve it successfully.

Robeez

I “heart” Robeez. These are the most adorable infant/baby shoes on the market to date. You just can not beat Robeez. I think the bean’s face in this photo says it all. He loves his Robeez just as much as Mommy does.

Robeez has SO many styles and colors to choose from that it is so hard to just pick one. The bean and I choose the Lion design. It is so cute, even more so in person.

The Robeez are so soft. You know that they have to be so comfortable on your little one’s feet. I personally hate the hard soled shoes on children under 1 year of age. I don’t think it is really necessary since they aren’t doing a lot of walking yet so the soft soled Robeez are just perfect.

Freeze It

In my much younger days, I was a gymnast. For 10 years, I did gymnastics and then for 2 years following that I was a cheerleader. Since I was the shortest girl on the squad I was the “Flyer”. I did all of the stunts for the team. After high school, I started working two jobs as well as going to college. I was constantly on my feet. One morning I woke up and stepped on to my right knee. I immediately collapsed to the floor. I went to the hospital and they informed me that I had an inflamed ligament in my right knee. I was ordered not to walk on it and wear a knee brace that doesn’t allow my knee to bend. To this day if I do too much walking at even given time my knee will swell up to the size of a grapefruit. The pain that an inflamed ligament produces is excrutiating. I’ve tried every topical pain medication on the market to try to help ease the discomfort of swollen knee.

I received a sample of Freeze It the other day and I must admit was a little bit skeptical. I’ve tried so many products that have failed to live up to their name that I honestly didn’t think this one would work either. Freeze It was easy to apply, wasn’t greasy, and didn’t stain my clothing. I loved that Freeze It didn’t make me smell like a medicine cabinet. I hated applying those other pain reliever gels due to the smells that they are always associated with. Best of all, Freeze It is very affordable and for this stay at home mom on a budget is a huge plus in my book.

Don’t just take my word that Freeze It really works, go try it for yourself!

Handstand Kids

Handstand Kids is a website that offers cookbooks for kids. Each cookbook is packaged in a cute pizza box complete with a chef’s hat!!! The recipes in the book are absolutely delicious. They are very simple ingredients for kids to follow. As I can attest that anything complicated or with too many ingredients can turn kids off and leave the screaming to do another activity. The hardest part about creating the recipes was the waiting for them to get finished cooking. We all wanted to eat them right away!!! Thanks to the Handstand Kids cookbook, I’ve dedicated one day a week to Kids Night. The boys get to go through the recipe book and pick out what THEY would like to cook for supper. It is nice to have someone else cook around here. Gives Mom a nice break one night a week.

The hat that was included in the kit is absolutely adorable on. All the kids wanted to wear it. Of course they had to take turns. Whenever it came to that childs turn to add an ingredient or do a task for the recipe, they got to use the chef’s hat so that eliminated any fights that might have occurred otherwise.

I give Handstand Kids a HUGE thumbs up! The packaging is way too cute. I loved the pizza box idea. The recipes will definitely be made many times. And the chef’s hat is just an added bonus!

Kitchen Sinks

Jul 29, 2007 Author: The Domestic Diva | Filed under: Commercial Break

I spend way too much time at my kitchen sink washing dishes by hand. We recently moved into a house that doesn’t have a dishwasher so I can really appreciate a nice kitchen sinks. They are an absolute must since you spend a good portion of your day in the kitchen washing dishes and preparing meals for the family. A good kitchen sink not only looks appealing but also does a great job of aiding you in your daily chore.

Mailboxes

Jul 29, 2007 Author: The Domestic Diva | Filed under: Commercial Break

I’ve talked about Mailboxes in the past and how people neglect the appearance of their mailbox. It really makes a great house look ugly whenever you have a banged up, door missing, painting chipping mailbox sitting in front of your house. Please make the investment of a really great, yet functional mailbox. Your neighbors, friends, family, mail carrier, and even you will be so much happier that you did.
