When I pictured my life as a teenager. I never in my wildest dreams thought that I would be married to a black man and be a stay at home mom to an interracially blended family. I can honestly say that it never crossed my mind that I would be attracted to a black guy. But when I saw my husband, or shall I say soon to be husband, at my first day of work nearly 5 years ago I just knew that he was something special. I didn’t see color, I just saw a great personality and someone that I loved to hang out with.
Now that I am in an interracial marriage, I see interacial singles all over the place. Everywhere I go I see cute interacial couples young and old alike. They always look to be the happiest couples on the block. There are lots of stereotypes and dirty looks that come with being in an interacial relationship but eventually you get over and figure out that no matter what other people think or tell you, you know who you are and you know who you love. Never let other people dictate how you should be happy. You have to live your life not them.

I grew up in a very similiar situation as you…since we went to church & school together
And I agree…never did I ever imagine I would be attracted to much less fall in love with a black man, but I have never been happier! I look forward to being a part of a blended family.
I do hate the looks we sometimes get & the comments we hear. I hate that my family has to hear it more than anything. I hate what Madison will hear. She loves him though!
Congrats on your happiness & stepping out for true love!

I totally agree to the interracial couple comment you have. I too am a white woman married to a black man. My story is a little different from yours in that I have always been attracted to black men. I don’t know why I just think they are so sweet and attractive. I have actually never dated anything but black men. I also totally understand the dissaproval from other people. I am always amazed at the amount of racism in todays society. I get rude comments all the time and I don’t even believe that we are in the year 2007 and people still act this way. I am proud to say that I am married to an amazing strong loving black man who takes care of me and loves me for me!! Always take pride in who you are, always!

That is so great to hear. I love meeting other interracial couples and like you can’t believe the comments that I still receive in 2007!!! I hope that the generation that my children are growing up in won’t be so racist. All I can do is teach my children not to see color but just people. *raises glass* Heres to making the world a little less color-blind one relationship at a time.

Stephanie….I agree. I’m the happiest I’ve ever been and have two beautiful multiracial children to prove it. I’ve never been so well taken care of. I hate that ignorant people have this idea in their heads that black men just want a white wife as a “trophy”. It isn’t that way AT ALL.
Our parents generation are mainly the ones that can’t “deal” with the situation. I hope that when our kids are older that the world will be a little more tolerant.
It was extremely hard to tell the parental units. My own father didn’t come to my wedding. We did a shotgun wedding and got married at a courthouse and then went to Chattanooga for a weekend vacation. It was tough not having my father there but I’m sure he’ll realize later on that he missed out on a really important day in my life. I can’t make people accept it. I just have to live my life. If I’m happy then I really don’t care what others think and in all actuality it really doesn’t matter.
I’m so happy for ya’ll. It is good to hear about another interracial couples happiness.

I also was never looking at color. If and when I am attracted to someone it doesnt matter what color they are its who they are to me.I was married twice to white guys and since my last divorce I am struggling being attracted to a strong black man.In my town where I live its not fully accepted even in 2007 here to date a balck guy.Thats where I am struggling with,I like this guy alot and think we could date and he is alot like me in personality.I am a strong independant white female with 2 daughters on my own.I did as a teen date a black guy and I loved it! I have always been attracted to a good black man and now I want to explore that more freely.Worried that my coworkers and my town and my friends will not accept my decision.I never thought that racism could still be here in this decade!! That makes me sad..I hear alot of white woman say they like a black guy but could never date him for that would be intolerable here.Thats a huge excuse!!My ex husband has even said he would try to take my daughter away from me if I dated a black guy period.I feel like I am trapped and cant make my own life work for what I want.I read this site and I wish I could have a more acceptive life and date who I wanted freely. To me, color doesnt matter period.I wish everyone else saw that in this world too.My mom has said I dont care what color he is as long as you are happy. She is my ONLY supporter.

Oh how ignorant you must be “carsonblackwomenare”. What is pathetic is that you can’t even spell the word or compose a real sentence for yourself. How about you try to get educated first before bashing other people. How awful it must be to be so ignorant in your thinking. Really, I pity you.
It is so funny that you say that “the reason white men stay true to their race is respect” but I bet you didn’t know that if you actually did your homework on your family history that you would see that you aren’t that pure at all. You are a compilation of different races not just one specific one. Seriously, how naive can one person be? Are we all not pink on the inside?
Here’s a tip: go educate yourself! Please for the sake of all things that are human.

White women who end up married to blacks are brainwashed and pathetic. MTV and television, and the movies all brainwash you little sluts and play you like a video game. If they can get you to marry someone with a flat nose, hair like brillo, lips like the goodyear blimp, skin the color of doodoo, and low intelligence, they could get you to do anything. I’ve seen your kids - they look like monkies, they aren’t “cute”, and you gave up 20 points of IQ they would have had. Thanks to you morons, the white race will be gone in about 20 years. Congratulations on wrecking your life, and keep away from whites - we don’t want you around.

It is always good to find love. Rather it be in some thats you race or not. If you get caught in color than you will miss someone right in front of you. I am a 23 year old black women and I am married to a white man. His mother thinks that he married satan and his dad likes that his son has found happiness. Me and him have dated since junior year in highschool, where many people did not accept us. But I did not care what others thought. He was someone I had knew since the sixth grade he was extremely nice and fun. He was and is my love and everything. Love is love and color has nothing to do with it.
