Perdue Perfect Portions ChickenThere is a new chicken that just hit the grocery store shelves. It is called “Perdue Perfect Portions Chicken“. These individually wrapped and seasoned chicken breasts are perfect for on the go parents that don’t have the time to prepare a fancy meal. People who live alone or without children will love the fact that each chicken breast is individually wrapped.

I tried out this Chicken breast tonight, and I have to say I am thoroughly impressed. The seasoning is absolutely perfect. I didn’t have to add anything to this chicken, it came great just the way that it was. I love the no mess pouches that the chicken comes in. I can also see myself easily pulling out one to cook up for lunch just for myself whenever the mood strikes.

I was only able to find this chicken at Publix grocery stores. I looked at Kroger and Walmart as well but was unable to find them there. They are in the fresh meat section of the store.

There are several ways that you can prepare these chicken breasts with helpful hints and tips printed right on the bag for you as well. I opted to bake mine in a 350 degree oven for approximately 30 minutes. It turned out tender and moist. I served the chicken along side some Shrimp Scampi Orzo and mixed vegetables.

Typically I have to beg my family to eat this time, they were begging for seconds. I couldn’t believe my eyes when my son ate two whole chicken breasts by himself. These were seasoned chicken breasts not plain, remember.

All I have to say is nothing but good reviews for Perdue Perfect Portions chicken breasts. They are sure to be a crowd pleasure in your home as well. Next time you are out shopping, remember Perdue Perfect Portions! Be sure to pick up a bag in your favorite flavor!!!

Audio Racks

I absolutely love the audio racks over at standsandmounts.com. I also love the theatre seating even more. I want to have a room in my new home dedicated solely to movies. My own person movie theatre if you will. They have the perfect chairs to go with my “dream”. I also really love their television stands. Great website to get some ideas from.

Yes Essentials for the most part looks to be the best automobile fabric to reduce stains that I have used in a long while. I have two, extremely messes boys that always seem to ruin whatever they touch. Knowing how my child manages to put stains on everything we own, I took the liberty to create my own toddler scenario with a couple of fabric samples that yes sent out to me.

I have one carpet sample and two seat cover samples. The mess was created with a packet of soy sauce, relish, and ketchup. The first sample I tried out was with ketchup and a seat fabric sample. I rubbed that ketchup in good just like any toddler or curious baby would. Soap and water is supposed to get this ketchup out. I used a baby wipe. For the most part the ketchup came out the majority of the way. But there is still an evident stain there and it was bleeding onto the back of the paper that was underneath the sample. If you get ketchup on this stuff it is recommended that it not be rubbed in. You could easily get it up with a baby wipe had I not rubbed it in like a typical toddler.

The next incident was a spill of soy sauce on the carpet. This was actually a tricky one because the sauce sauce absolutely refused to be absorbed by the carpet. It ran all over the place. I had to really work at it to get into to the fabric. This is really great fabric! Once I got it worked in good, it really didn’t take much elbow grease to get it back out. This is a great product. I would definitely put this carpet in my van.

The last test was with another seat cover sample and some relish. The hardest part of the relish test was getting all the little pickles up and let me tell you I hate the smell of relish. But once I got the relish up the clean up was fairly easy.

Honestly this fabric does work better than most automobile fabrics I’ve had in cars in the past, but it isn’t without flaws. Stains are possible but you really have to have the mindset to make the stain in order to get one. Does that make sense?

Overall I think this is a great product but it isn’t recommended that you rub condiments into the fabric.

Here is what Yes Essentials had to say about our test:

As you mentioned, YES Essential’s StainSmart technology repels liquids. This is why you found that the soy sauce “absolutely refused to be absorbed by the carpet.” When substances are pressed or intentionally rubbed into the fabric (activity that will happen with kids or any passenger in a vehicle), additional effort will be needed to remove the stain. After a spill, if more soap and water are used to fully saturate and blot the spot, stains and odors will be removed from the fabric.

Go ahead and save the “you should wear sunscreen all year round” lecture for someone else that might actually listen and take it to heart. Because I, my friend, am not one of them. I just can not see myself lathering up with sunscreen in the middle of winter whilst wearing long sleeves and a jacket. Well take the photo below as prime example of why you might want to get your “idea” out of your head of why you should wear sunscreen no matter what time of year it is.

winter sunburn on chest

As I mentioned in a earlier post, since my site was down all weekend I had been outside enjoying the fresh air with my family. We have been playing ball together. Today, I decided to do the same. I had a low top on and well my chest is burnt to hell.

I thought my husband was joking that I was burnt. But nope, I now feel it as I sit here and type this to you tonight. One thing I hate about being so pale is how easily I burn.

We were only outside an hour that is the bad part. I stayed in the shade the majority of the time, as well. The sun and my skin just do not mix. I am forever doomed to be pasty white.

But you know, as I get older I have started to embrace my pasty white skin. In this day and age it is all about the “healthy glow”. Well all that tanning in a tanning bed or laying out in the sun just isn’t going to do anybody any good twenty years down the road when they have more wrinkles than they really should and their skin appears to be rubber. Nope me and Snow White will stick together with our pasty selves. Thank you very much.

Retro Cassette Tote BagThis Retro Cassette Tote Bag is so much fun to own. As many of you know, I love all things retro. So this is my favorite bag to carry around. It is really big and roomy. The straps look like they are ribbons of tape coming out of the cassette. Everyone is always asking me where I got this bag from. I often just carry around library books in it. You possibly wouldn’t want to use this bag as a purse because it has no closure. It is made out of a weird material as well. It carries library books well though.

Strip Chocolate Board GameLadies, you will want to pick up this strip chocolate game for Valentine’s Night. It is such a fun game for couples to play together and who doesn’t love chocolate!!! I don’t know any man that wouldn’t love to play this game. Even my reluctant husband was willing to try this game out. All I can say is that this is a really great game for Valentine’s. *hint, hint, wink, wink*

control your man remoteThis control your man remote is so much fun and a definite must-have for any diva. I keep this remote on top of my desk and when hubby gets out of line, I conveniently press a single button on the remote to spit out a quirky comment. This remote has had me and my husband rolling for days. It is a great way to break the ice in a tense room.

Trip with the boys, ALONE.

Jan 29, 2008 Author: The Domestic Diva | Filed under: Commercial Break

So last week, my husband went out of town on a business trip. I had to get my tooth fixed and since my parents offered to pay for it, I decided to go over to their town to have it done. The day before I left, I decided that since my mother would be with me I might as well take advantage of her ability to care for the boys and see if I could get my hair cut. We thought her just watching the boys while I got my hair whacked would be a good idea. Well come to find out not so much, pnut freaked out! Big, HUGE scene in the middle of the salon. I was so embarrassed. It is good to know that the hairdressers didn’t mind though they really seemed to understand. I just needed to get my hair cut and since my last hairdresser did such a horrible job I knew I needed to go some place new. My mom said hers was really good, so I opted to make an appointment with her instead. I am so glad I did. I love my hair, just a little upset that pnut was such a bad kid. Maybe it was the fact that we had just been driving in the car for two hours straight and just did make it in time for my appointment. Who knows.

For the most part though pnut was mindful and did a great job. No major melt downs except for the salon incident and a mini meltdown while I was getting my tooth fixed. But I will tell you one thing, I was so glad to get back home on Friday. I was so exhausted for taking care of two kids on my own for a week straight. I give huge props to single parents, you are a lot stronger than I will ever be.

Overall the visit to my parents home was a good visit but very busy. Lets see, I left last Tuesday, an hour after being there we went and got my hair cut and ate lunch. Then that night we went out to eat at the Olive Garden. The next day I got a filling filled in my tooth and then on Thursday we watched the Veggie Tales movie at the theatre before I drove two hours back home.

I wasn’t home when my husband came back home from his business trip but I was so glad to see him when I did get home. We both missed each other so much. It is good to hear and feel that your husband misses you when he is away. That is perhaps the best feeling in the world. As stressful as it was to be alone with two needy boys, it was a good experience to go through but not something I would like to do every day. I think I like to split the child duties with the husband that is for sure.

Full Feeds, why it keeps readers!

Jan 29, 2008 Author: The Domestic Diva | Filed under: Commercial Break

One thing I hate the most is when a site that I am following via a feed reader all of a sudden decides to switch from full feed to preview. That is the most annoying thing. The purpose of a feed readers is so that you are able to read a blog entry without physically going to a website. Some may say that they switch to preview because of the fact that they want people to actually visit their website, I say that it is just darn annoying to have to click a link to go and read the rest of the story. I understand the hits stand point but annoyance factor out ways hits in my opinion.

I am slowly dwindling on my feed reader as I am continuously unsubscribing from peoples feeds whenever they switch from full to preview. I will no longer support preview feeds (sorry friends if you are one of them). I just can not click on every single website that I would like to read of their daily happenings.

Now, I want to know your opinion on feeds. Do you like full or just a preview? Are you annoyed by having to visit a persons website to read the “full story”?

Going green with my reusable shopping bag from MinusBags

Jan 29, 2008 Author: The Domestic Diva | Filed under: Product Reviews

MinusBags: Reusable Shopping BagsI absolutely love my chocolate, apple reusable shopping bag from Minus Bags. This bag is so adorable and so roomy! I used this bag recently on a trip to my mother’s house. I was all alone, just me and the kids. I needed a bag that I could keep in the car to store all of our snacky foods that we would munch on the long car ride to her house. It worked great. We had all kinds of goodies stuffed into our reusable shopping bag. I could quickly and easily pull out a snack for the boys without having to hassle with zippers or closures and more importantly keep my eye on the road.

I have no designated this bag as the “car bag”. I keep in the car for whenever we make quick trips up the grocery store for just a few items. This way we don’t have to use the plastic bags at the store for one or two items. It is also a really great bag to take along to the Farmers Market. It is super soft and flexible that your veggies never get squished.

Paid Posting, How do they take out taxes?

Jan 29, 2008 Author: The Domestic Diva | Filed under: Commercial Break

Some of my readers have been emailing me and asking about how my paid to blog jobs take out taxes. The answer to the question of whether or not paid to blog sites take out taxes is NO. You will have to save up money and pay the taxes owed when you file them independently.

Now for some of you this may seem as a draw back, to me it did at first as well. I didn’t like the idea of having to PAY when I file my taxes but if you look at it from the perspective of the rest of the year then you will see that you really aren’t that bad off because you get paid almost daily tax free. It is then up to you to save away enough to pay the taxes at the end of the year.

So far, this is the only downfall to paid to blog but it really isn’t all that different from any of the major advertisement websites like google’s adsense or blogads. Just about every advertisement company that I have worked with have all made me file my own taxes, none of them have gone ahead and taken out the taxes for me.
