As a former employee of Starbucks for over three years, that story makes me sad. First, the Coffee Frappuccino comes standard WITHOUT whipped cream. So there is no excuse why it would have come with it, unless the barista wasn't listening 100% and overheard the word whip and just assumed you were adding. Either way, bummer. Even as a former employee I find myself going out of the way to frequent local coffee shops now. I too often find myself frustrated at my local Starbucks-- but I do think I just have a bad location near me, maybe you do too!

Haha - I just clicked over from your post about Starbucks screwing you, this time in a good way, and I'm trying to fill in the blanks here with what Drea must have said, since her comments aren't here now. LOL! People get so pissed sometimes!

Diva and Drea- Drea, I understand what you're saying about not getting upset with people over a drink. But the thing is, in this (and most) scenarios, we are the customers. We are the ones paying the barista (cashier/hairdesser/etc) for a drink. I'm guessing you don't have the kind of money to throw around - I know I don't. So when I get my drink, I expect them to make my drink exactly the way I asked. I've never felt demanding or pushy when I have to ask (repeatedly) to have my order corrected.

As a consumer, there are lots of ways to show your outrage. One, like Diva has done here, is to blog about your bad experience - and to name names. Companies don't like that, and in the past few years I have received numerous coupons and gift cards for stores and restaurants after I wrote a blog about a negative experience there.

The other way to show your outrage is to never go back to that particular store, and maybe even tell your friends not to go there. Store owners follow the almighty dollar. It may seem like a small action, but if his poor customer service leads you and dozens or hundreds of other customers to go elsewhere, they WILL notice and they WILL make changes.

Being a Christian does not mean being a pushover. It means being confident in who you are, and not being afraid to tell others how you feel.

Sheena...I know what you mean, I get a plain cheeseburger because I don't like all that mess on it, they typically get it wrong just because they don't listen. I think customer service in all places are at an all time low.

Drea...Ok, I wasn't trying to start anything either nor did I expect that you were. I was simply telling you what I expected from a company that overcharges people for their coffee. If they want to overcharge for a simple thing as coffee and have a reputation for having good customer service as a part of their "demand" then I should get nothing less. See what I am saying. Tis better to tell someone where they are wrong so that they can learn from the experience than to hold it inside and let it bother you continually each time I have my order taken from that guy. If we were never corrected in our lives we would never learn anything.

Reminds me of Burger King. Greg always asks for no pickles, no onions, and no ketchup and here's how it goes.

Operator: Welcome to Burger King, may I take your order?
Greg: Yes, can I have 3 Whopper Jr's w-
Operator: With cheese?
Greg: WITH CHEEEEEEESE, NO PICKLES, NO ONIONS, AND NO KETCHUP!!!

They never give him any time to finish!!!!! And then on top of that they sometimes make him repeat!!

Melinda & Lisa: I don't agree with Drea either. I know that if I pay $5 for a drink not food that I have the right to get it without a bunch of hassle. I expect hassle from McDonald's but not Starbucks. People that aren't coffaholics probably don't see what the big deal is nor do they understand why we constantly shell out $5 for our cup of joe. Honestly, I've been hearing nothing but bad reports from Starbucks lately and can honestly see why they need retraining.

Drea: all I can say is that is your opinion. I do not believe I overreacted when I didn't ask for his opinion. Had I asked what other drinks there were then it would have been appropriate. People that involuntarily divulge information as if they know more than you in a stuck up, better than you type of attitude is not right and that is exactly how that guy was. You can tell later in the story that because of his inappropriate, better than you attitude he not only screwed up my order but also screwed up the guys order behind me as well. Think of the guys attitude like he was trying to "show off" to me that he knows so much about starbucks just because he works there. Working there means nothing especially if I have the money in my pocket.

It's been a LONG time since I've been to Starbucks - their drinks are expensive enough that I've never been able to justify a $5 coffee. However I'm quite happy that they will soon have free wi-fi again. It's none too soon for me, as my options for free wi-fi are quite limited and it's nice to have options. Plus, if I get free wi-fi, I can justify the $5 coffee.

I disagree with Drea, having worked in several different retail/food service stores before- the customer is always right, and it was downright inappropriate of that kid to question your decision (especially since it was for your son). He doesn't know if you or your son, he doesn't know if you are maybe allergic to this-or-that ingredient in the other drinks, and you are the one with the money. I hope his boss gave him a good lecture, because his behavior was wrong in every way for a retail job. As in, if you weren't as nice as you are, you could probably have taken him to small claims court and won. And his boss would REALLY not like that.

(Two or three years ago, I was working in a fast food restaurant, and our restaurant WAS taken to small claims court due to the behavior of another employee. We lost, and that other employee lost her job. It really does happen.)

that frustrates me to no end and I'm surprised you held your temper as well as you did. I probably would have just left without the drinks. I agree that if you'd been at McDonalds, it wouldn't have been as big of a deal, but to deal with that kind of ineptness where that's all they specialize in is just ridiculous.
