How much more valuable would an oyster be to you if it produced charcoal, diamonds, or carrots? I personally like the pearls that oysters naturally produce. But if an oyster could make a nice fudgy brownie then we should talk. Oh wouldn’t it be heavenly to crack open an oyster to see a rich, fudgy brownie starring back at you instead. Of course in this fantasy the brownie wouldn’t taste like fish at all. It would be perfectly done and nothing short of absolutely delectable.
Gulf oysters have a Vibrio vulnificus bacteria in them that consumers of raw oyster should be aware of. Now the occasional raw oyster consumed by an individual that can tolerate such food may be fine but the risk is still there. Beoysteraware.com wants to inform you of the risk. If you do not know if you are one of the people that are “at-risk” for consuming raw oysters it is better to not take the chance. Even if you are an at-risk consumer of oysters there are better ways that you can get your oyster fix rather than eating the stuff raw. Try your oysters steamed, grilled, or even fried!

Hm. I’d much rather have an delicious oyster than a boring old brownie.
