First Birthday: Bean First Birthday: Bean First Birthday: Bean Beans 1 yr Bday Beans 1 yr Bday Beans 1 yr Bday Beans 1 yr Bday Beans 1 yr Bday Beans 1 yr Bday Beans 1 yr Bday

Just about a week ago on the 21st, our littles baby turned one year old! I can’t believe that the time has come and gone so quickly. It was a sad and exciting event for me personally. Beany didn’t like the getting messy part with the cake and didn’t really eat a whole lot of it. Just enough cake for a taste then he was on to eating something else.

Above are some photos from the event that I think better describe the happenings rather than me telling you about it. All we did was open a couple of presents, eat a little bit of cake, and that was it. Nothing fancy, after all we were more concerned about cleaning up tornado damage.

Meet your MeatWhile on the road, driving through Atlanta, we saw a bunch of feathers all over the place. We knew a chicken truck had to be close by and low and behold we caught up to it. Now typically I would see a chicken truck and think nothing of it but after trying to convert my diet to vegetarian I have a different kind of heart for these things.

Meet your MeatYou see that little fellow poking his head through the crate? Poor little chicken. He looked so sad as if he knew he was on his way to be slaughtered. I have this photo on my desktop to remind myself not to eat meat. It is really hard to stick to the fruits and vegetables when you have been eating meat for almost 25 years.

Meet your MeatI just can’t get the image out of my mind of those chickens. Most of them looked very sickly, had feathers ripped out of them, some weird thing poked through their nose, poop everywhere…it was just gross. I know that if a chicken is sick I don’t want to be eating it. Seeing the chicken truck first hand has really fueled my fire to stay on my vegetarian diet.

While attending the Sony Mommy Blogger Event, we were all given Sony Cybershot Cameras to have fun with. This is by far my favorite camera. I take this camera with me anywhere and everywhere. It even fits in my pocket in my tightest pair of jeans! I encourage anyone in the market for a new point and shoot camera to definitely get one of these. The picture quality and functionality is amazing! You won’t be disappointed.

One of Beanies favorite games to play right now is Peek-a-boo. He does all the hiding and thinks it is so much fun to do. During the American Idol Finale Bean was playing peek-a-boo with his brother in his pack and play. Beany couldn’t stop destroying the living room so we had to put him in his “baby jail” so we could enjoy American Idol. You will notice that whenever someone claps on American Idol so does the Bean.

I caught a video of the bean the other day trying to sneak a bite of pnut’s pizza. Beany is lactose intolerant so he wasn’t able to have any pizza with the rest of the family. It is such a shame because beany looked really interested in what pizza tasted like, in fact he couldn’t stop saying the word “pizza”. Listen carefully and you will hear him say “pizza” and “i want that”.

Don’t you just want to squeeze him, he is so cute and chunky!

I am so not the type of person that is into waking up early or doing anything in the morning that is for sure, which is probably why you never see my face in this video. Some of you have wanted to know what I do with all that organic stuff that I bought the other day and here is one of the recipes that I use all that organic fruit for.

What went into it….

1 banana
lots of frozen strawberries
2 organic carrots
organic pomegranate/ acai juice
organic acai juice
orange juice (couldn’t find an organic version so I had to go with the normal stuff)
veg/fruit juice (also not organic, its a kids drink…something harvest)
organic frozen blueberries, raspberries, mangos, blackberries, peaches
organic flax seed (it helps you poop)
organic sugar (I have a sweet tooth, plus it enhances the fruits sweetness)

That is pretty much it, I hope I didn’t forget anything. One thing you will notice in this recipe is that there are no measurements that is because you basically put as little or as much as you want into this smoothie. If you like more peaches than strawberries then add more peaches. One thing to remember is that you need about half as much liquid as you have frozen fruit or it isn’t going to blend well. I also make as much smoothie as possible to yield me two days worth of wake up smoothie goodness. Just put the remainder in the fridge or freezer and drink the next morning. Again this is a lazy trick of mine since mornings are so awful for me.

Also you may notice that this is a non-dairy smoothie, meaning no yogurt or milk products. I am not one that likes the yogurty (is that a word?) tasting smoothies. I want fruit, and I want lots of it.

Got any questions? I’ve got answers.

Special shout out to Plain Jane Mom on inspiring me to make my own smoothie video. She talks in hers, but me not so much…hey I said I didn’t do mornings and I’m sticking to it.

Also, shout out to Brandice for pimping me on Viddler’s Community Spotlight Blog. Many thanks, Chica, You Rock!

I have been on the lookout for a external hard drive to store all of my photos on that would be both compatible with my mac as well as with my pc laptops. I finally found it and it is called a SimpleTech FS-U25/250CM 250GB Signature Mini USB 2.0 Portable Drive in the color Cool Mint. I love this drive. It is about the size of my hand and easily can go with me wherever I travel.

If you own a mac or a pc or both you will want to get this drive to store all your important info like photos, videos, documents. If you are a pc and mac owner you will want this drive so that you will be able to easily transfer data from you pc to your mac and vice versa.

When you get your drive in the mail there will be instructions on how to set up the drive for both the pc and the mac along with if you want it to be compatible with both. I selected the MS-DOS format when I formatted the drive on my mac which in turn made it capable of working with both my mac and my pc laptops.

At around a hundred bucks and some change, this very large 250 GB external hard drive is great for anyone looking to have an extra copy of all their stuff in a safe, secure, ultra cute way!!!
