The thing is that "global warming" is one thing (we are coming out of an ice age, of course it's getting warmer) and people polluting the earth. The end result of pollution, waste and deforestation might not be global warming but it is causing other problems.

So yes, do your research. And turn your lights and faucets off too. Do your part, don't use the fact that some of it's fabricated to blind you to all the rest of it.

Nice to see you posting about a serious subject and getting a discussion going.

It's great to see someone come forward and state their opinion against the masses and the media.
Like Christine, I believe in global warming, but I don't think it is purely man-made - I believe more in the theories about the Earth's cycles.

So no, I'm not doing much to be more eco-friendly, except the things that are being forced on me by the government (for example, they are adding yet another tax on gas so that people will stop using their cars - no thought for those of us who HAVE to use our cars for work etc!).

I also find it interesting how politicians will go on and on about how we, the people, need to reduce CO2 emissions, yet they FLY all over the world to remote places to meet up and discuss the terrors that await us unless we, well, stop flying everywhere, for one. Double standards much?

And as regards to going green being all about money, I certainly think that is true to a certain extent. I'm pretty vocal about the fact that going out and buying new, "greener" stuff is silly. It's Greenwashing. I've been about buying used and freecycling/donating stuff for years. To me it's about the more real concern of running out of landfill space. I also am concerned about the toxins we're exposed to because of our throwaway mentality - such as the BPA and phtalates in plastics.

I don't consider myself an environmentalist, largely because what I see as some of the half truths and hysteria offered up as fact by environmentalists. I think a lot of it is a political move. I do a lot of eco friendly things because I am concerned about landfills and the health of the planet. But I don't necessarily think global warming has much to do with what we humans are doing.

Thank you so much for speaking up as well, Christine. So many of us just take what others tell us as facts and never do any research on it before we start believing and LIVING the hype.

I totally agree with you in the fact that this is all a cycle. What goes around comes around.

BTW, I do believe there IS such a thing as global warming, just as there is global cooling (which in the 80s was a big cause of fear and concern in the media.) I just don't buy into the whole MANMADE global warming scare.

To think that we humans can alter and/or control the natural patterns of the earth is arrogant at best and manipulative at worst. Global warming occurred long before the advent of cars, factories and so on. It's not the terrible thing Al Gore and the like would have you think.

...and have you noticed ol' Al hasn't done a thing to reduce his own substantial "carbon footprint" but expects us "ordinary folks" to reduce ours?

I am THRILLED to see this post! I'm so sick of the fuss that has nothing to do with the facts.

John Coleman, meteorologist and founder of the Weather Channel has written and spoken extensively about the scam of manmade global warming.

Thank you for taking this on. Too many people have bought into this, and they really need to hear the facts.
