If you haven’t heard of the cube at Marshall’s then you really need to go to their website and check it out. I’m telling you, this Cube idea is awesome! You know every time a new fashion comes out you want to immediately run to the store and try to recreate it. If you are like me, you don’t want to spend big bucks on a fad that will be history next year, so that is why I shop at discounted stores like Marshall’s. Now all of those hot fads will be located in the cube, which is a section of Marshall’s dedicated to all of the top fashions that way you will have an easier time finding exactly what you are looking for.
Sadly though, when I visited my local Marshall’s they did not have a Cube in the store yet. So since this is a relatively new idea and concept, it is granted that this won’t be in all of the stores yet but please make sure you visit marshallsonline.com to find out if you do have a cube near you. Either way Marshall’s is a great place to shop whether it be for back to school or any other time of the year for that matter. Department store looks, without the department store price.
A couple of weeks after moving into our new home, we noticed that one of our cats went missing. Our cats are outside cats but typically stay close to the house no matter how far they might wander. You can call their names when you go outside and typically they would come meowing all the way. One day we only heard one set of meows and sadly was missing our boy cat. We looked and looked for several days but he never showed up. I was convinced that he either got lost exploring our new home, killed, or that someone had stolen him.
As it would turn out, someone in fact did steal our cat. A few moments ago, I was outside walking our dog for his last pee-run of the night and low and behold who comes meowing out of the bushes but our boy cat, Yang!!! It was a bittersweet reunion between me and the cat and then the dog and the cat. Yang and our dog, KoJo, are best buds always playing and fighting with each other when they are both outside. You could tell that Kojo really missed his pal as he was loving all up on our long lost friend. I say that someone stole our cat because lets just say he came VERY well fed. I’m talking stomach bigger than his head fed. I like the fact that the person who stole our cat was so nice to him to feed him until he became as big as a house but that is OUR cat! Case and point, hands off granny he is mine!!!!
Now my husband and I are having the debate of whether or not we should turn him into an indoor cat since we know for a fact that someone stole him. I like the idea just so long as he stays in the “man cave” also known as the basement. He would fit right in being a male and all but my husband is worried that he might mess up his “mojo”. So what do you do? Does he remain an outside cat for someone to snatch up again, or attempt to turn him into an inside outside cat so long as he resides in the “man cave”? He couldn’t possible come up stairs because of several reasons, first of all he is a long hair cat which means lots and lots of shedding. The second and main reason is because not only I but also one of my stepsons are allergic to cats which makes it near impossible for us to enjoy them more than a couple of pats on the head.
What would you do? I’m tempted to go buy him an “official” collar and tie a note around his neck that says “Hands off, B****es, he’s mine!” but would be too afraid that whoever finds the note might keep him locked inside for good.
What is your opinion??
I just got an email informing me that the Domestic Diva has been chosen to be included in the list of the Top 100 Parenting and Child Rearing Blogs. Several people have been e-mailing me asking me how I watermark my photographs so I thought I would make another tutorial to show you just how simple it is to watermark your photographs using my favorite little program, Gimp.
Here are the steps to watermark your photograph.
First, have your photo and watermark image handy. You should create your own personal watermark separately from your photograph so that you won’t have to keep recreating it each time you edit a photo for the web. I create all of my watermarks in png format that way I can keep my transparent background which looks best when overlayed on top of your photos.
1. Open image you want to watermark
2. Choose File>Open as new layer
3. Choose your watermark file
4. Move your watermark to wherever you want to put it on your photo. Pressing “M” on your keyboard will make the whole layer that you just pasted moveable.
5. Change the opacity. I choose 25% on the image above but you can choose as much or as little opacity that you feel comfortable with.
6. Choose Image> Flatten Image
7. Choose File> Save as.
DONE!!!!
Let me know how you liked the tutorial. If you want to share what you have learned, leave a link to the image you have watermarked in the comments below. I’d love to see what you have learned.
Red Dog House’s Sun cooling mat has got to be one of the coolest inventions ever for your dog. Each mat comes in fun colors and prints, ours looks like a red Hawaiian shirt. To use you let the mat soak in water until the water is absorbed. Once the water is absorbed into the mat, you can then use it in your dogs carrier, outside on the deck like ours or anywhere you need to keep your pet cool. I’m not sure what is exactly inside the mat that absorbs the water but it does in such a way that it prevents leakage so you don’t have to worry about things getting soaking wet wherever you use this mat. Since receiving this mat my dog absolutely refuses to come in the house most days, he loves basking in the sun while laying on his cool mat.
Another product that my dog loves are the liver snacks. I know they sound kind of gross to humans but dogs love them. Basically they are all-natural liver treats, in ostrich, turkey, buffalo, or beef flavors.
Next time you are in the mood to pamper your pet check out the Red Dog House.
We do! I love Qubo which airs on NBC on Saturday Mornings. Some of the boys favorite shows includes Zula Patrol and Veggie Tales. I love how Qubo is dedicated to insuring that children are always viewing trustworthy family friendly television shows. Qubo even shows programs that you may have grown up as a child watching like Babar.
We have one rule in our household and that is whatever you do whether it be watching television or playing video games, it has got to be educational. I am thankful that Qubo is dedicated to teaching children valuable lessons and that is why Qubo is what we watch on Saturday Mornings. Next Saturday Morning remember to check out Qubo on NBC. Also there will be a new show added to the Saturday morning line up come October called Turbo Dogs that you will be sure to want to check out.
Nana Star is a book series designed to encourage children in the joys of reading. Each Nana Star book comes with a CD that has the story read aloud as well as a few songs for the kids to sing along to. There are also some plushies that you can purchase to accompany your Nana Star book collection. Your little ones will love to cuddle up with posable, lovable Nana Star and friends. Our favorite besides Nana Star is Moonman. The Bean loves kissing and pushing his little star on his chest to see his sweet face light up the night.
Overall I really love this series of books. I think the series is geared more towards girls but I have to say that all of my boys really loved listening to the CD at story time and enjoy acting out the story with the plushies. Make sure you check out nanastar.com to learn more about this awesome project and how Nana Star is changing the world.
One of the only game consoles that we have in our home besides our computers is a PS2. I love my Playstation 2 despite the fact that there is a new version out. One of my favorite games that I like to play on my playstation, when I have time, is Crash Team Racing. I love racing games just because they are easy for me to do and not a lot skill goes into playing them. I’m not a fan of racing outside of gaming but I can beat the pants off of anyone that challenges me to a race, just ask my kidlets just the other day I won the race we played against each other.
What is your favorite gaming console?
