Free from Inbox Clutter!!!!

Tonight I just had enough!!! I was sick of every time I opened up my inbox to see some two hundred something emails staring back at me. So I decided that I was going to clear out my inbox. File the messages that needed to be replied to at a later date into their own folder, reply to the ones that could be replied to now, and delete all of the unnecessary junk that had been building up for a while now.

Well I started out with and ended up with zero! I am completely caught up with all of my emails for now and it feels so good to not have the stress hanging over my head anymore.

What does your inbox look like? Do you need to set down a time and just go at it until there is little to none left to?

What was my incentive behind getting my inbox clean? Well a little thing I call coffee ice cream. I love coffee ice cream and promised myself that if I were to get my inbox completely cleaned out that I could relax and enjoy a nice big bowl of my favorite treat. Nothing works better for motivation than the promise of ice cream and veg time in front of the TV.

I’m afraid of my inbox. There are far too many emails in there. I keep all of my sites/projects separated into different Gmail accounts–I have 4. My main email has about 200 emails in there at all times and every time I go through and delete what I don’t need, reply to whatever needs replying to and so on, I go back the next day and it looks the same. It’s ridiculous.

You did it! I’ll have to use you as my inspiration to do the same. My inbox has a lot more messages in it.. it is out of control. Going to widdle some down right now :)

I need to do this with my inbox on outlook. I need to just set time aside and get it done. I love coffee ice cream too. I might have to go and get me some. :)

I am glad I do not have a chaotic inbox like yours, but I have my fair share. Congrats on getting them all sorted through! :)

I had that problem too.. but I just changed email addresses to get away from it all. But now when I get behind I just press delete to most of them. :)

Yeah for you! I try to keep up with mine on a daily basis, but it’s still overwhelming. I have 4 accounts; one personal & 3 biz. I’m just afraid that Yahoo email is going to crash and I’ll loose everything in there, so I’ve set up an excel spreadsheet with all the email addresses that I need to save, and then some point back it up to my Passport drive. Actually, that’s on my to-do list too, back up on the Passport. Wow, and I’m old enough to remember when there was only snail mail!

I compartmentalize (sp?) with my emails. I have one just for bills and other “official” things, like church, when I do my taxes, etc. Then I have my personal email, for keeping in touch with friends and family, and then I have my “junk” email, that I use for blogging, signing up for free things, etc. Gmail is really great too, it makes it easy to manage several different accounts.
