Oh, what a day, what a day! It all began with an email informing me of a makeover courtesy of Walmart in honor of being one of the Eleven Moms chosen to be the “money saving guru’s” for their youtube channel that will launch next week on September 3rd! So what is this big makeover for? Professional Headshots!!! Walmart wanted to treat all of us, Eleven Moms, to a makeover and professional headshots for use in the upcoming Money Saving Community. We were all so excited to hear the news and quickly began booking our appointments for hair, makeup, and photo shoots.

Like many others, I haven’t been to the salon in quite some time. In fact the last time I visited a salon was when I was preparing to go to California for the Sony Mommy Blogger Event. Yes, it Walmart Sponsored Makeover: Not your Typical "Mom" Haircuthad been that long. But you know what, I’ve been busy moving house…well, that is what I tell myself in order to get through the day with my unkempt hair. Not anymore! Now I’m rocking my new “reverse mullet” and loving it. Did you just say “reverse mullet”? I sure did! That is what my hairstyle is technically called because I’ve got long in the front and super short in the back. The short in the back allows me to go all business like if I so choose or spike it out for a more fun, punky look. But you know what, ever since I originally cut my hair into this style way back at the first of the year, I must say that it is the best, most flattering hairstyle I’ve had in years. This hairstyle is definitely not your typical “mom” look and has a bit of an edge to it which I totally love. Also, never in my life have I had more compliments on my hair from perfect strangers than when I have my hair cut into this hairstyle. So rock on “reverse mullet”….rock on! You make me look beautiful every single day.

Walmart Makeover: The HaircolorDid I mention the color? Yes, I got to have my hair professionally colored for the first time in five years. The last time I had my hair “professionally” colored was way back in the day when I was attending cosmetology school. I typically color my own hair at home because lets face it, I don’t have an extra $90 laying around to blow on haircolor so the cheap $15 box o’ haircolor does the job for me. It felt so good to be pampered. We went with a platinum blonde and red hightlighting on top of my natural base color. I think the color came out great. Little did I know that it would take 3 hours for a salon to color my hair. Good grief! I had the “flat ass”, that is the syndrome you have after sitting for a long period of time and your butt goes numb, bad by the time I left the salon.

After getting my hair done, I got some headshots made for use with the Walmart Campaign. I will wait and show you the headshots, as well as tell you who took the photographs later on.

So tell me, what do you think of my “reverse mullet”?

Special Thanks!

To my Mom for sitting and taking photographs of my long, drawn out 3 1/2 hour beauty ordeal. You’re a trooper!

To Ms. Paula, my hairstylist, who took me from drab to fab. Who didn’t hesitate when this quiet girl came asking for a wild, crazy punk haircut. You do fabulous work, Paula, and are such a joy to be around. Thank you so much! Remember, when I become famous I’m taking you with me!!! I can’t imagine having anyone else styling my hair.

Hey, love the hairdo! You look great! My hair is a similar length to yours, but it’s more of a traditional bob. I’m going to ask my hairdresser to cut my hair into a reverse mullet next time I go!

It’s great to get pampered, isn’t it? In my previous life (BC - before kids) I regularly had my hair styled and went for massages and manicures, as well as having nice long luxurious baths, with candles and soothing music. Ever since I had my twin girls (4 years ago) all this pampering fell by the wayside. I’m lucky if I have time to get my brows waxed now!!

Anyway, looking forward to seeing your head shots!…
