Photographers Secret: Water Droplets

Someone commented on the photo above wanting to know what my secret was to creating this shot and the lens used. The lens that I used to take this photo is my new Tamron AF 70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di LD macro 1:2 lens that my father bought for me on my birthday.
With this lens I do not have to get right up on the subject that I am taking a photo of, I can be a good distance away from it (or across the yard) if I would like. At the time of taking this photo it had just rained, the clouds parted and sunshine began to shine. I quickly grabbed my camera and began taking photos of the flowers and plants that were in my yard. I wanted to capture nature at its finest, untouched. I swear to you I had no way of arranging those water droplets in that manner, that is the way that they sat upon the leaf of our rose bush.
If you can’t capture a photo right after it rains, you can take a spray bottle with some water on it and mist whatever subject you would like to take a photo of. And as always it is a good idea to adjust the brightness and contrast in a photo editing program to get your photos to really pop and stand out. Just doing some minor tweaking by adjusting the brightness and contrast on an image can really bring an ordinary everyday photo to life.

I checked out that lens u posted on amazon. Its very affordable. do you find it has trouble staying focused when zooming so far? ive used zoom lenses before and the shake was hard to control. I would love a macro lens for newborns!
To capture more detail. I have the tamron 17-50mm and love it. I used it at todays shoot. Tamron has impressed me so far
let me know!

Drea….it IS a very affordable lens. Most Tamron lenses I’ve looked into are very reasonable. If I am unable to buy Sony brand for my Sony Alpha then Tamron is second best in my opinion (or just as good). No it really doesn’t have a hard time focusing when it is zoomed all the way out. It has to be zoomed all the way out to take the macro shots. No unsteadiness at all. I’m really impressed with this lens. Not too slow and captures some great close ups without being all up on the subject. The photo of the leaf, I was practically half way across my yard when I shot it. This is a very powerful lens and great for any collection.

Do you use this for all your recent photos? I would love to see some other photos that you took with it. I am in the market for another lens and this one is sooo affordable!

Thats great. I paid like 450 for my tamron.. but its a bit different than the macro. Has a large aperture so its nice for weddings and low light situations. a bit heavy tho! but i like bulk to a lens
Thanks for the tip. I’ll keep my eye open. Im going to a photoshop tonight .. so ill see if they have that on sale .. got to buy it on sale!

Wendy….Yes I did, Most Photographs that are taken outside I use this lens for the job. Here are a few more photos that I recently took with that lens….
Yellow Daisy
Unique Red
Flower Stem
Drea….Yeah I like a nice heavy lens too! Just feels good in the hand. I’ve seen this lens a lot more expensive other places, Amazon was the best price I found.
