Reading with Bugsby

31 August 2009 No Comment Disclosure

I was recently approached by a rep for Vtech that wanted the kids and I to try out one of Vtech’s latest toys, since we are still head over heels in love with the V.Smile V.Motion educational gaming system for kids. As soon as the new Bugsby system arrived on our doorstep the kidlets have been in reading heaven. They absolutely love this book and pen combination. I’m not even exaggerating here, my kids have played the bugsby books so much that the batteries are now threatening to die. Talk about continual use.

For those of you that don’t know, Bugsby is one of Vtech Kids latest gadgets (yes the kidlets inherited my gadget loving gene). It is a book and pen combination that allows children to read, comprehend, and play quick games with the system. I love that the books don’t have any strings attached, it is completely wireless and only works with Bugsby specific books.

Along with the Bugsby pen, Vtech sent 3 additional books: Bugsby’s Amazing Search, Wonder Pets Save the Chimps!, and Bugsby and the Magical Museum. Out of all of the books that have been played by the kidlets equally, they say their favorite is Bugsby’s Amazing Search the little one, who is 2, loves the Wonder Pets book.

What I think is really great is that the whole system is pretty affordable at $29.99 for the pen and one book, each additional book is only $12.99. We are already looking into getting more books for our system since I can see what a great asset it is in teaching the kidlets not only the love of reading but also things like phonics and comprehension. Educational activities are always a number one priority in our home. Some books that the kidlets have requested we add to our Bugsby library are: Dora the Explorer, Olivia, Max & Ruby, and of course Wow! Wow! Wubzy.

Want to get to know Bugsby and the gang. Follow them on Twitter, friend them on facebook, or check out their photos on flickr.

Here is a fun activity to do with the kids. Visit bugsby online and choose create a story to create your own Bugsby story online.

Disclosure: this post is sponsored by Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide on behalf of Vtech. This is my own personal account of the Bugsby system that may or may not differ from your own opinion. I am not an expert but a parent that just so happens to really like the Vtech products mentioned.
