My Mobile Office Google Style (Day 82)

23 March 2010 8 Comments Disclosure

I’m constantly on the quest to find things to make my life easier. In the spirit of things, a lot of my work is online based. Seriously, I don’t think I would even touch a computer if I couldn’t get on the internet. It’s pretty bad, I know, but that is the nature of being a blogger.

Back to my will to be more organized. I used to do various things on different websites and one day just thought about it and how silly it is to have several different websites to do different things, this is when I started to look more into Google and their list of various programs. With one account I’m able to do email, create calendars for various activities for both home life and my online life, check up on other blogs via Google Reader, and pre-write blog posts in Google Docs.

Let’s just say that Google is beginning to win me over and making me a more organized Diva. But this isn’t even the icing on the cake and the part that made me go “OH I gotta blog this” no that moment came when I research the little “Sync” button at the top of my Google Calendar. There I learned that I can sync with my iPhone. All my contacts, calendar information, and emails import directly and seamlessly to my iPhone so I can take “my office” with me wherever I go. I’m in heaven. I like the ability to sync across all platforms so no matter what computer I’m using or mobile device that I’m on, I’m up to date with all of my online “stuff”.

Ahhh domestic organized bliss is within an fingertips reach, now if I could get that inbox under control I’ll be all set to breathe a little easier.

How Do you keep your life organized?

I am going to have to try this! Just got an iPhone and still learning about all the cool things I can do with it. Now I just need to update my Google calendar more often, and be more disciplined about it. ;)

As much as I used to roll my eyes at Google, I have to say, I love it. I’ve had an Android phone for over a year now, so I’ve been taking advantage of the calendar sync option for just as long. I actually use Outlook on my desktop & laptop, so I use Google’s Calendar Sync program to sync my Outlook events with my Google Calendar. I keep my contacts stored in Google, since they and Google Calendar automatically sync with my phone.

I need to look into the docs thing…

As a blogger, my iPhone is definitely at the top of my must-have list. I also use the Google Mobile app to sync things like my calendar, documents, and even my grocery shopping list.

I had a nightmare a week ago that I accidently broke my iPhone and woke up in a panic. If it really happened, I seriously would cry! Lol

And I wouldn’t have use for a computer not connected to the Internet either ;-)

AHH what a fabulous tip! I always have the DESIRE to be organized but when it comes to it being a reality… I fail miserably lol.

@Lynsey, I had 2 or 3 calendars going on at once. I knew there had to be a better way, glad to know that google calendar can sync with an iPhone’s calendar. Good luck learning all the awesomeness of an iPhone. It’s so much fun, I don’t know what I’d do without mine.

@Jenn, girl I used to be there too. I constantly avoided google for as long as I possible could, then one day I just gave in and haven’t looked back.

@Vickie Heully, oh no what a horrible dream. I would have cried at the thought of a broken iPhone :P

@Sarah @ OneStarryNight, it’s one of my goals this year. I just hope I can stay on top of it.
