The other day I called out on twitter that I needed some more neon in my life.

A quick and easy way to add a splash of neon to my everyday life I thought would be to paint my nails in some of my favorite neon shades. However, the task of finding neon nail polish colors proved to be a bit difficult.

After searching typical drugstores, I knew I needed to go some place that carried lots of makeup. This is when I decided to step foot into Ulta. This was my first ever trip to the store and for a makeup junkie it was mind blowing. Hubby was right, if ever I were to go into that store I might not come out for several hours. There was more beauty products there than I could look at. But I tried to make my visit brief. I was there on a mission, a neon mission.

After walking around for a bit and checking out the rows and rows of beauty goodness, I picked out two neon colors from China Glaze to try….

China Glaze 872 Pool Party & China Glaze 875 Yellow Polka Dot Bikini (even the names of these nail colors are fun)

My current nail look? I’m loving rocking the neon. As for my trip to Ulta? I’m pretty sure it’s not going to be my last.

Have you ever visited an Ulta? What is your absolute favorite makeup product that you’ve found there?

I have never been inside an Ulta (but only because there aren't any near me), but I have been to Sephora many times – ugh, I can spend many hours and many dollars in that store!

For neons, besides China Glaze, I also recommend ORLY (Sally Beauty Supply has them, as well as many CVS stores, and I think some Walgreens). I picked up a few of their 2012 summer shades, including Skinny Dip, which is an *awesome* bright blue. There's also a blazingly bright orange, and a super-bright highlighter yellow – all three shades rock, are bright, and don't chip quickly, like China Glaze's do, in my experience with them.

    Happy neoning. :)

Oooo, you have a Sephora *jealous*. We don't have a Sephora where I live. I've always wanted to go to one though. I'm definitely going to be on the lookout for Orly, thanks for the recommendations. I haven't seen them at my local CVS or Walgreens sadly so maybe I need to make a trip to Sally Beauty Supply sometime soon. Skinny Dip sounds like a gorgeous color! The highlighter yellow neon nails is absolutely my favorite and you are right the China Glaze does chip quickly I sadly already have some chipped nails after only a few days :(
