I’ve been a part of the Walmart Moms for several years now, I love all of the women in this group (they are like family to me) and honestly feel so honored to be included in this group of amazing women. So, this is my third Shareholder’s that I’ve attended as a part of the Walmart Moms. Some of my long time readers may recall my excitement over Will Smith in 2011 or seeing Jamie Foxx & meeting “Mr. Rollback” in 2010. The only drawback to attending a Walmart Shareholder’s Meeting is that the “party” starts bright & early at 5:30 AM. Definitely make sure you’ve got your favorite coffee handy. But once you make your way to the Bud Walton Arena, you can instantly feel the excitement and love for Walmart in the air. The “business” aspect of the meeting is broken up amongst the fun entertainment and inspirational stories. It doesn’t feel like you are attending a meeting at all.
Check out some photos I snapped at Shareholder’s this year on Flickr.
This year the host was Justin Timberlake which
I was just seconds from seeing up close and personal
but it’s OK because he had several speaking parts very close to where we were sitting at so I may or may not have made solid eye contact with him :P An unexpected surprise for me was seeing Taylor Swift and her amazingly blinged out guitar. I don’t even know how to play a guitar but I’d love one of those just to hang up on my wall (plus it would total match my phone cover). Very diva-like. Also
Lionel Richie was there trying to get the crowd excited (remember it was very early in the morning) and Renee is right, I don’t think he ever ages
:) Did I mention that Celine Dion closed the meeting? She of course was fabulous!
The only thing that I didn’t like about Shareholder’s this year was that I didn’t bring my DSLR :( I was trying to do the whole “travel light” thing but ended up missing some great photo opportunities that an iPhone camera just wouldn’t do. I know now, that bringing my DSLR is definitely a must for a Shareholder’s Trip.
The next day we were up again very early in the morning to go to a Saturday Morning Meeting. It’s always fun doing the Walmart Cheer with a crowd full of people. This year since Walmart is celebrating their 50th year, they were handing out super cute sugar cookies with the Walmart logo on them. And after the Saturday Morning Meeting we took some time as a group to head over to the new
which is an art museum as well as nature trails. The best part about the Crystal Bridges museum is that part of it is sponsored by Walmart so you can get in free. I just didn’t realize how much of the museum you could actually see, I sadly only saw part of it before it was time to leave. My absolute favorite part of Crystal Bridges though are the amazingly beautiful walking trails. This was definitely a great place to visit on our trip.
Some of the Walmart Moms: Monica of Mommy Brain Reports, Jennae of Green Your Decor, Renee of Cutie Booty Cakes, Lori of A Cowboy’s Wife, Linsey of Lille’ Punkin, & Christine of From Dates to Diapers
Taking a trip out to Arkansas to hang out with amazing bloggers and meet with some of the people that work for Walmart is something I look forward to every year. Yes the trip is full of early mornings & lots of walking, but each year I come home from my trip inspired and excited for what Walmart is doing and what they have plans to do.
Thank you, Walmart, for another amazing trip!
Disclosure: I am a Walmart Mom. I have been compensated for my time and efforts in creating this post. Walmart provided all of my travel, food, and lodging on my trip. However, as always my participation is voluntary and opinions are my own. My experience may differ from your own.
