It’s Pizza from Italy Night! (ItalCrust & Marifano)

It’s the end of the day and I’ve forgotten to thaw anything out for dinner. What is my go-to meal solution? PIZZA!
No one in my family has complaints when it’s pizza night at our house. But eating the same pizza (store bought or delivery) over and over again can get a little boring.

Walmart recently started carrying in their Supercenters a new pizza crust and frozen pizzas in their freezer section. ItalCrust and Marifano are all-natural, hand-stretched, & wood-fired made in Modena, Italy & available exclusively at Walmart. As a Walmart Mom, I had the opportunity to try the ItalCrust and Marifano pizzas. What did my family think?

First we tried the Marifano frozen pizzas. Marifano pizzas come in 3 all-natural flavors: Spinach & Goat Cheese, Four Cheese, & Margherita. All pizzas were hand stretched and wood-fired in Italy. Out of the three Marifano pizzas currently available at Walmart my favorites were the Four Cheese and Margherita. I loved the flavorful sauce on these pizzas. Who knew you could get a little taste of Italy without leaving your kitchen? The kidlets commented that they loved the Four Cheese. There was nothing left when they were finished “sampling” it.

After trying the Marifano pizzas, it was time to try our hand at making our own pizza using the ItalCrust. This is the same crust that is used in the Marifano pizza just without the toppings. So its the same 7 all-natural ingredients (soft wheat flour, water, durum wheat flour, extra virgin olive oil, olive oil, salt, & yest), hand-stretched, and wood-fired in Modena, Italy. Unlike some other store-bought crusts these are found in the frozen pizza section at Walmart. There are 2 crusts in each box ($4.96) perfect for a family dinner.

What makes this crust so unique and different are the air pockets which are formed because they are hand-stretched. When baked directly on the oven rack these crusts become perfectly crisp on the bottom. We like to keep our pizzas simple with a good pizza sauce and cheese. It was a bit hard trying to spread out the pizza sauce with a spoon amongst the air bubbles on the ItalCrust but with a good pizza sauce we didn’t mind the extra bit of sauce in some places on our pizza. Maybe a pastry brush would have been better for spreading the sauce on the crust? Despite this, we have become official fans of ItalCrust. I’ve been craving Marifano pizzas since my first bite.

Have you tried ItalCrust or Marifano frozen pizzas?

Have you seen Marifano & ItalCrust in your local Walmart Supercenter?
