Tailgating seems to be a lot of fun. Unfortunately for us going to a football game for our favorite team is quite a drive and our boys aren’t playing football just yet. So what’s an alternative? Throw your own “tailgate” party at home. Regardless whether you are taking the drive or staying at home, tailgating should be easy!
I don’t know about you but this is the time of year when I’m super busy with fall festivities, adjusting to a new schedule, and homeschool planning. Even though my schedule is jam packed, I still managed to pull off our first “tailgate”. With the help of Walmart I was able to quickly find the items I needed and head back to the house just in time for the game.
When planning what I wanted to serve at our tailgate party, I knew I wanted it to be simple. These first few weeks of adjusting to a new homeschool schedule wears me out and I’m usually too tired at the end of the day to even think about cooking. That is why I opted to find items at my local Walmart that wouldn’t require me to cook.
The first item for our easy Tailgate party was a 6 ft. party sub
. Did you know Walmart
even made those? I was given the opportunity to order one for our Tailgate party along with the rest of our fixings courtesy of Walmart. The ordering process for the party sub was simple. At the deli section of Walmart you simply place an order for your sub in the size you like. You are able to choose your meats, we opted for both turkey and ham, and the type of cheese you would like. If you like condiments on your subs you can also request those as well. The best part about ordering a party sub from Walmart is there is no prep on my part. Six-foot Party Subs are $28 at Walmart.
When it was time to pick up my party sub from Walmart Deli I opted to pick up the rest of our easy tailgate goodies. I found a large bag of football themed mini Snicker bars
and a football shaped container of chocolate chip cookies in the Bakery section of Walmart
. These will serve as our sweet treats after we chow down on our sub. To go with our sub, I just picked up some chips and dip. Lays Wavy Chips and Smooth Ranch Dip
is a personal favorite of mine but for those that love nachos I opted to pick up the new Tostitos Stadium Style Chips and some cheese dip
. So I don’t have to worry about drinks for everybody I picked up a couple 24-packs of our favorite beverages
Oh, I almost forgot! You are probably wondering what we ate our easy tailgate meal on? I found some football shaped plates
at Walmart that couldn’t be any more perfect. The kids absolutely loved them!
One of the best parts of tailgating is “looking the part”. There’s nothing like a little team spirit! While at Walmart picking up all of the items on my easy tailgating menu, I took a quick look in apparel to find something warm I could wear during those cold football nights. It’s always good to bring a jacket or sweatshirt with you if you go to a game at night because it can turn a bit cold at night during the fall. I found the sweatshirt I’m wearing in the photo above on clearance for only $5.
So, whether we are staying in or hitting the road, tailgating can be easy!
And the best part was I didn’t have to cook!
