In one of our posts the other day, I mentioned how I added a pop of pattern to my closet shelves. Today, I’m going to share with you all what my new use for these shelves are: a Makeup Vanity Inside my Closet!

Some of my longtime readers know that we love to rearrange the furniture in our house. We love to give a new look and feel to a room and rearranging the furniture is just the easiest way to achieve that. My home office and the kids homeschool room is downstairs. This area is often referred to as the “diva den” or “mom cave”. It’s girly and decorated beautifully in my favorite damask pattern with bits of pink here or there.

As ya’ll know, I recently tackled organizing my closet which is also downstairs. I’ve had my makeup “vanity” down here as well for quite a while. I just like my outfits and makeup together in the same space because it just makes getting ready for the day just a bit easier. But since I’ve reorganized my closet, I now have more room INSIDE my closet for other things. So I thought, why not put my vanity IN my closet and save space outside of it. So with the empty shelves that I recently applied a laminate to, I did just that.

This is the main shelf. I have a large mirror, a lamp for light, a magnification mirror, an iPhone speaker for listening to my favorite music or morning talk show while I get ready and a pencil basket to hold my favorite products I’m using for the week.

This is where I organize all of my makeup. Also this is the place to where I store my eyeshadow palettes and brushes. In the drawers my makeup is separated into different categories like face, lips, and eyes.

Here is a long view of my makeup vanity area inside my closet. You might not be able to see it very well but all of my clothes are on the left. I have a small office chair that easily fits underneath all of the shelves when not in use. The above shelves are for extra storage of hair products, nail polishes, etc.

Here is my hair care shelf. I have a small plastic container for hair ties and a fabric container to hold my hair products, brushes, curlers, etc. The magazine holder to store cool, hair tools is one of those brilliant ideas I once saw on Pinterest.

Since I’m a little on the short side, I mainly use these top shelves for products that I don’t use that often.

So, what do you think of my makeup vanity in my closet? Good idea? Bad idea?

Where do you apply your makeup in the morning?

it’s a nice idea. as for me, i don’t put on too grand make-up. a gloss on the lips will already do.

Thanks, I completely understand. Some people love to apply makeup while others not so much. I’m the same. Some days I want to put on a full face of makeup while other days just a little mascara is all I’ll do.

Did you have electricity outlet in your closet? lol I would love to do this but I dont have an outlet to plug in to? :(

I did, sort of. There was an outlet right at the entrance of my closet. I plugged in an extension cord and ran it along the wall to the vanity so I could plug things in closer to where I would get ready.
