The other day I kicked off a new blog series called “Makeup Bag Travel Essentials” with Maybelline’s NEW Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser. With spring and summer coming up, it is typically the time of year when people start to plan their vacations but traveling with an entire vanity worth of products just isn’t practical. So I thought I would share some travel-friendly products as I find them.
The moment I discovered this eyeshadow palette I knew it would be perfect for travel. If you’ve read my blog for any length of time you’d know that I’m completely obsessed with eyeshadow. I prefer to play up my eyes when I apply makeup so having a good eyeshadow palette with me when I travel is an absolute must! I’ve been on the hunt for a more portable eyeshadow palette and I think I finally found a winner.
Traveling with my favorite 88 warm eyeshadow palette by Coastal Scents is not very ideal. Even though I’ve done it on more than one occasion, because I just can’t be without my favorite eyeshadows, there is always that fear in the back of my head that once I reach my final destination that all of my eyeshadows will be broken and all over my luggage. This is what prompted the search to begin with. A few weeks ago, my favorite place to get high quality eyeshadows at a budget friendly price, Coastal Scents was having a sale on their “Go Palettes”. I knew now was the time to try one out.
If you aren’t aware, Coastal Scents has awesome deals & sales weekly. I’ve used their eyeshadows daily for years and love them. So I knew that their Go Palettes would be just as pigmented and a joy to use as their classic 88 palettes. The problem was choosing just one. I know that purples compliment blue eyes beautifully and that I had to have a black matte shadow to smudge out my eyeliner with so I opted to try out the Beijing Go Palette.
The key with any eyeshadow is to ALWAYS use an eyeshadow primer/base. Eyeshadow primer/base does a world of difference at not only helping to make your eyeshadow last all day long but also it makes the eyeshadow a lot more pigmented as well. So, of course, when I swatched these on the underside of my arm I used an eyeshadow base to show the colors. I’ve also numbered them so you can tell which swatch goes with which eyeshadow pot. The photo above was taken with an iPhone 4, the photo quality isn’t great but you can see the color range. Number 2 & 3 are very, very similar with #2 only being slightly darker. There is a decent mix of satin, shimmer, and matte shades in this palette which I really like. The only color that I wish this palette did have would be a cream matte shade for highlighting the brown bone or using as a lid base. But other than that I do like the color selection in this palette and can already tell that many different looks can be achieved from this one palette. The best part is the small packaging makes it perfect for traveling!
What is your favorite travel eyeshadow palette?
