Happy Fourth of July everyone! I hope you are having a fantastic day with family and friends. One of my favorite parts of celebrating Independence Day is incorporating red, white, and blue into my outfit of the day. One of the easiest ways to show your patriotic spirit is through makeup and nail polish. Here’s what I’m rockin’ on the Fourth:

Patriotic Splatter Paint Nail Tutorial

First, let’s talk manicures and pedicures. I love putting a spin on the classic red, white, and blue with a fun, festive manicure and pedicure. When I was approached by a company and asked if I would like to try out a few new beauty products for the 4th of July, I knew I just couldn’t resist putting together a patriotic look. One of the first product was this oh so fun, Sally Hansen Color Frenzy top coat. The specks of red, white, and blue are perfect for a patriotic manicure!

Fourth of July Nail Polish

To get the look, I first picked out some festive red and blue base colors from my nail polish storage shelf. I choose Covergirl’s Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Color in a gorgeous, shimmery red color (#185) and my absolute favorite nail polish Rimmel Salon Pro in 711 Punk Rock as my accent color. Because I wanted my nails to really shine on this Independence Day I choose Sally Hansen’s Super Shine as my top coat. I applied the shimmering red on all of my nails except for my ring finger where I applied the dark blue color. Next, I applied Sally Hansen Color Frenzy in Red, White, & Hue over top of the color on my thumb and ring fingers. After dried, I sealed everything with Sally Hansen’s Super Shine Top Coat.

Patriotic Makeup Look

You can’t rock a patriotic manicure without a complimenting makeup look. When it comes to a red lip, keep it simple. I’m a huge fan of the affordable lipstick and lip balm stains by NYC. I typically don’t wear red lipstick as it is a bit too bold for me to wear every day with my fair skin. However, when it comes to the holidays I’ve been know to rock a bold lip a time or two. I was happy to receive a few red lip colors by NYC to choose from to create this Fourth of July makeup look. NYC Expert Last Lip Color in Red Rapture is a very bold, intense red shade that’s not shimmery yet glides on very smooth onto the lip. NYC Expert Last Lip Color in Red Flame looked more like a dark pink shade on me when I swatched it. And NYC City Proof Twistable Intense Lip Color in Roosevelt Island Red was a nice sheer, moisturizing red lip color.

Red Lipstick

To get this makeup look, I first applied several neutral shadows from the Revealed Palette and a heavy smoked out black eyeliner paired with several coats of L’oreal Miss Manga mascara. On my lips, I used NYC Expert Last Lip Color in Red Rapture and topped it with a lipgloss for a bit of shine.

Do you wear red lipstick on the Fourth of July or paint your nails in patriotic colors?

Disclosure: I was gifted with samples of the NYC lip colors and Sally Hansen Color Frenzy to try out for myself. As always, opinions are my own.
