Last year I was obsessed with decorating for the holidays with burlap, this year it is poinsettias. But I’m not talking the typical red and green poinsettias. I’m loving the burlap faux poinsettias at Walmart so much so that I made a Thanksgiving Centerpiece with them. Along with the Burlap Poinsettias, Walmart also has these gorgeous Metallic Poinsettia Mixed Bouquets this year that would look beautiful in a floral centerpiece or used to create a beautifully unique holiday wreath for your front door. At just $5 for a bunch at Walmart, you get everything you need to create a beautiful craft in one bouquet.
Wreaths are something that I look forward to making every season. I like to make a new wreath to match the holidays and my decorations. Since my Christmas theme is metallic gold and silver, I thought that I would create a wreath using the metallic poinsettia mixed bouquets that I found at my local Walmart store. The following wreath tutorial, however, can be changed and adapted for use with whatever color scheme and flowers that you choose. Walmart carries a wide variety of artificial flowers that are great for crafting with.
How to Make a Holiday Wreath
(craft products found at Walmart)
- 2 Poinsettia Mixed Bouquet ($5.00 each)
- Grapevine Wreath
- Floral Wire
- Matching Metallic Printed Wired Ribbon ($4.88 each, found in the holiday decor section at Walmart)
First, remove each stem from the poinsettia mixed bouquet with wire cutters. Keep the stems about half the size that they are in the bouquet so that they can easily be stuck into the grapevine wreath. Once all of the stems have been removed from the bouquet then begin sticking them into the grapevine wreath. One reason why I like grapevine wreaths for creating my own wreaths is because most of the time glue or ties are not needed to hold the flowers in place. Just weave the stem of the faux flowers with the grapevines of the wreath to secure into place. After adding all of the pieces of the poinsetta bouquet to your grapevine wreath, finish it by weaving a coordinating wire ribbon throughout the wreath and securing the ribbon on the back of the wreath with some floral wire.
With a wreath its easy to create and adapt it to your own specific taste and decor. If you are looking for another wreath idea using products from Walmart, check out this Fall Wreath with a Chevron Burlap Ribbon Bow. Happy Crafting!
