You can never go wrong with a nude nail polish. Nude nails go with any outfit. They are just classy and elegant. I’ve already talked about my love for the L’oreal Collection Privee nail color. So this time, I thought I would change it up with a splatter of metallic. Hard Candy makes some beautiful nail colors, however I’m mostly drawn to the glitters. This polish is a mix of all different sizes of glitters and textures that give a really unique look to the nail with no two nails ever looking the same. Today I’ll be sharing two of my favorite nail tips in the tutorial below on how to really pack on the glitter and keep your at-home manicure lasting just a little bit longer.
Nude Metallic Splatter Paint Nail Tutorial
- Hard Candy 801 Wedding Crasher
- L’oreal Collection Privee 600 Doutzen’s Nude
- Revlon Gel Envy Diamond Top Coat
To start this nail look, I first cleaned and dried my nails. Then I applied two coats of L’oreal Collection Privee in the shade Doutzen’s Nude. Once dried, I then applied Hard Candy Wedding Crasher onto my accent nails, which were my ring finger and my thumb. You certainly could applied this to all of you nails if you like but I prefer just an accent nail here or there.
Here’s my first tip: when applying glitter nail polish, instead of sweeping the glitter onto the nail apply it in a dabbing motion to get a more concentration of glitter. This technique works best with chunkier glitter or textured polishes. For finer glitter nail polishes you can apply the polish in a normal sweeping motion but for chunkier glitters, dabbing is where it is at!
Once everything is completely dry to the touch, no stickiness. Then it is time to seal in your lovely manicure and make it last. Here’s my tip #2 on how to make an at-home manicure last: use a gel top coat! There are all kinds of gel top coats on the shelves at the drugstore now some requiring a light to cure some no light at all. I prefer the no light needed gel top coats like the Revlon Gel Envy Diamond Top Coat. Just one coat of a gel top coat is all I use to keep my manicure using a regular drugstore nail polish lasting just a little bit longer.
