My family loves homemade french fries. We make homemade french fries at least once a week in my house. We hardly ever use the bagged frozen french fries because it is so easy to make fries out of russet potatoes, which we always have on hand.

A little while ago I was invited to Arkansas as a part of the Walmart Moms. While there we were introduced to the Veggetti Pro. Before my trip, I had never even heard of the Veggetti Pro but after seeing it demonstrated I knew I wanted to try to make fries with it at home. The lovely folks at Walmart sent me a Veggetti Pro to try out for myself. I couldn’t wait to play with it!

Don’t you just love a new kitchen gadget? The Veggetti Pro comes fully assembled in the box. All one needs to do is clean it and remove any additional packaging and it is ready to use right out of the box. There is nothing to plug in. The entire process of using the Veggetti Pro is based off of a hand crank and 3 blade plates. The blades are incredibly sharp so be extremely careful when handling or cleaning the blade plates. The 3 blades that comes with the Veggetti Pro are: Thin Spiral, Thick Spiral, and Ribbon Cut. My personal favorite blades are the thick spiral and ribbon cut for making fries.

On the bottom of the Veggetti Pro is a suction cup which keeps the device stable on your counter top as you use it. There is a suction cup on/off switch on the side that allows you to stick and unstick it from whatever flat surface you are using. When using the Veggetti Pro the only prep you need to do before hand is of course washing the vegetable that you are going to be using and cutting off the ends so that so that each end is a flat surface. There are two handles attached to the Veggetti Pro: a Push Handle and Crank Handle. After your vegetable is placed inside the Veggetti Pro you use the push handle to push the food through the blade as you crank the handle. Applying even pressure as you push and turn the crank handle will yield better results.

The Veggetti Pro disassembles incredibly easy for cleaning. I noticed particularly when cutting fresh potatoes that there is a lot of “water” that will ooze everywhere, so its nice that I can take the entire unit apart to wash it. The base of the Veggetti Pro is hand wash and air dry only, however according to the instruction guide included with the kit the other parts may be cleaned in a dishwasher on the top rack only. I prefer to hand wash my Veggetti Pro.

I’m amazed at how incredibly fast I can cut up a batch of fries for my family using the Veggetti Pro. I think that is the best aspect that I love about using this product. I don’t have to peel my potatoes before running them through the Veggetti Pro so it has saved me a lot of time. I’m loving experimenting with the Veggetti Pro and figuring out what works great using this kitchen device. I think the next thing I will try to make is Homemade Hashbrowns. Wouldn’t those be lovely for breakfast?

If you are interested in the Veggetti Pro it is available at Walmart for $24.88. While I like to use the Veggetti Pro for homemade curly fries and chips, the Veggetti Pro is also great using other vegetables like zucchini, squash, carrots, and cucumbers to make vegetable pastas.
