I am really loving the bohemian trend that is happening right now. So much so that I’ve started to incorporate as much boho inspiration into my life as possible. It began with my wardrobe and now I’m moving onto a few rooms in my home. Today, I want to share with you, as a part of the Walmart Moms, an easy craft that you can do to create your own boho inpsired wall hanging that you can proudly add to your home’s decor. All of the supplies I used in this craft were found at my local Walmart store.
DIY Boho Wall Decor for Your Home: Dream Catcher Step-by-Step Tutorial
Prices from my local Walmart store
- ribbons in various sizes and coordinating colors ($0.47-$2.97)
- yarn (I used the brand Peaches & Creme) ($1.50)
- 10 inch embroidery hoop ($1.77)
- lace fabric to apply to the back of embroidery hoop (about 1 square foot)
- hot glue
Before you begin, separate the inner and outer rings of the embroidery hoop. To do this simply unscrew the outer clamp until the inner ring will easily slide out. Don’t forget to tighten the clamp back so that the outer ring is nice and sturdy.
Then gather the yarn and coordinating ribbon of your choosing to make the tassels of our Boho Inspired Wall Hanging. Cut the yarn and ribbon into strips of 1 yard in length. Once all of your yarn and ribbon are cut, gather 10 pieces of yarn making sure that the ends align. Gather the group of yarn in the center and make a loop allowing the ends to hang down. Place the loop on one side of the embroidery hoop, grab the remaining yarn through the loop, and pull the ends of the yarn through to secure the group of yarn onto the embroidery hoop. You want your loops of yarn and ribbon to be opposite of the embroidery hoop clasp as we are going to use that clasp as a way to hang it on the wall once our project is finished. Next, gather 5 pieces of ribbon in varying widths and do repeat this same step. Continue doing this step alternating between yarn and ribbon until you have the desired amount of loops and fringe attached to the embroidery hoop.

Flip the wall hanging over to the side that you want to be the back. Cut a piece of lace fabric roughly the size of your embroidery hoop. I found this lovely off-white rose patterned lace in the fabric section of my local Walmart store. Don’t worry about any excess as we will cut the remaining fabric off at the end. With a glue gun, apply hot glue to the back of the embroidery hoop and carefully secure the lace fabric to the back of the embroidery hoop. Once your fabric is secured all the way around your hoop, cut off the excess as close to the hoop as possible with a pair of scissors.
That’s it, your boho inspired wall hanging is complete and ready to decorate your home with. I love this project because one can easily customize it to their own decor and the supplies needed can easily be found at Walmart. Speaking of boho inspired home decor, look at this amazing rug I stumbled upon at my local Walmart store while I was on the hunt for supplies to create this craft. I love the various woven fabrics and the price can’t be beat at only $4.97. Each rug was completely unique it was hard to pick my favorite one. However, this rug definitely gives me that boho feeling every time I look at it and I think it looks great in one of my favorite rooms in my home.
