I have to admit, summer isn’t exactly my favorite time of the year. I only say this because of the heat. Here in the south the heat is nearly unbearable. It’s thick and humid making for disastrous result for your beauty routine. When it comes to beauty in the summer months, less is more. I try to keep my summer beauty routine down to the bare minimum especially if I’m going to be outside for any length of time because I know that if I don’t, any effort I do put into my makeup and hair can easily get ruined by the summer heat.
Keeping my makeup and hair simple in the summer, significantly cuts down on the time it takes for me to complete my morning routine. They don’t call them the lazy days of summer for nothing. Today, as a part of the Walmart Moms, I’m sharing three affordable beauty products available at Walmart that are in my beauty bag this summer.
Covergirl Smoothers BB Cream- Tinted Moisturizer + SPF 21
BB Creams are great during the summer months because they melt into your skin when you apply them unlike most foundations that just sit on top of the skin. You won’t be getting as much coverage as a foundation with a BB Cream but with a product like Covergirl Smoothers BB Cream you’ll find added benefits like all day hydration, SPF protection, and a lightweight feel. BB Creams provide just enough coverage to improve the look of your skin without feeling heavy or cakey. Setting with a translucent powder will help to keep the shine away.
Maybelline New York Master Contour Kit- Light to Medium
Bronzed skin is always in during the summer months as more people venture outdoors for summer activities. Maybelline recently released a contour kit that has everything you need to get that glowing, bronzed look. In the Maybelline New York Master Contour Kit you’ll find: 1 contour color, 1 blush color, and 1 highlight. The kit even includes an angled brush! Not only can you use this kit to contour your face to add a bronzed glow to the skin, you can also use this kit for your summer eye makeup as well.
To Contour your Face:
Apply the contour shade in the hollows of your cheeks, up along the sides of your forehead, down either side of the bridge of the nose, and along the jawline. Then apply the blush on the cheekbone parallel to the outside corner of your eye (right next to the apples of your cheeks) back into your hairline. Lastly, finish by dusting the highlight onto the top of the cheekbones for an instant glow.
For Summer Eye makeup:
With a big fluffy eyeshadow brush, sweep the contour shade into the crease of the eye. Then with a small eyeshadow brush apply the blush shade to the outer corner of the eye. Finish the look by applying the shimmering highlight shade to the inside corner of the lid and on the brow bone underneath the brows. Complete your eye look with curled lashes and a sweep of your favorite mascara. During the summer I switch from a black mascara to a brown black mascara to keep my makeup looking as natural as possible.
Garnier Fructis Style De-Constructed Beach Chic Texturizing Spray
Now that our makeup is simple and put together, it’s time to finish the look with our hair. Most days my hair stays in a messy bun or it is left down in natural or curling iron styled waves. The key to the beachy wavy hair look is a good texturizing spray like the Garnier Fructis Style De-Constructed Beach Chic Texturizing Spray available at Walmart. Whether you are styling your hair up or down, the texturizing spray is what gives your hair grit and texture. This texture is what gives your waves that piecey, undone look. When styling hair into a messy bun, the grit is what helps freshly washed hair stay in place. This texturizing spray can be applied to hair while it is wet for a natural texture or can be spritzed onto dry hair after it’s been waved with a curling iron to add definition to your hair.
