There is no surprise that many of us have probably heard of the series called ‘Orange is the New Black’ on Netflix. I personally like ‘Orange is the New Black’, especially the first season. I think it is definitely worth a binge on Netflix, if you haven’t already, but as time has gone on I’ve felt like something was sort of missing from the series. I am much more interested in the women’s current story and situation versus hearing about their backstory and how they got there. So my interest in ‘Orange is the New Black’ has slowly started to dwindle.
The great thing about Netflix is that ‘OITNB’ is not the only show currently available for streaming that is like this. If you are all caught up on ‘Orange is the New Black’, you may be looking for something similar to watch on Netflix. I was in the same boat and started to watch a series called, ‘Wentworth’. This crime drama series takes place in an Australian women’s prison. Just saying that this series is good is an understatement. It is down right addictive. I was hooked from the first season. It is interesting to compare the similarities and differences between countries and unlike ‘Orange’ you don’t get a lot of backstory as to why the women are locked up but rather you see a glimpse into their day to day lives and what it takes to survive.
I absolutely can not stress enough how great of a show ‘Wentworth’ is. The ending of season 4 left my husband and I speechless. The good news is, we finally get closure because ‘Wentworth’ Season 5 has just hit Netflix in the US. Because ‘Wentworth’ is still airing in Australia, we do not get the new series in America until it has completely aired in Australia. So, word of advice don’t google “Wentworth” after a season if you hate spoilers. Now that the new season of Wentworth is available on Netflix in the US, I know what my plans are going to be this weekend.
What are you currently binge-watching?
