This week's Bingelist featuring The Crown, Alias Grace, Victoria, and more! (Issue #01)

Throughout the years I’ve realized how important it is to indulge in a little self-care. There are many ways to practice self-care like bingewatching a tv show on the weekends, watching a movie after a long day, listening to a podcast in the shower, blasting a new song while cooking dinner, reading a book before bed, or discovering a new blog. Any time you are taking the time to do something you enjoy, that is self-care and we all need it. Indulging in self-care isn’t selfish it is a necessity.

This is why I’m putting together these bingeworthy entertainment guides to share with you the books, blogs, tv series, movies, & podcasts I’ve been enjoying during my self-care routine. I’m a busy homeschooling mom of boys where most of my time is spent taking care of my family but at the end of the day after everyone has been tucked into bed I try to take a break for myself. Just a few hours at the end of the day is all I need to watch a few of my favorite YouTubers, an episode of a tv show I’m currently bingewatching, listen to a podcast while I take a relaxing bath, treat myself to a movie I’ve been wanting to see, read a new blog, or just simply a chapter in a book.

I want to encourage you to take a “mom break” to be mindful of your own self-care and not just the care of others. It is so easy to get caught up in the “busy” of life, going from day to day to day. It is so important to schedule some time in the day just for you to do whatever nourishes your soul.

3 TV Series you are going to want to Bingewatch this Week

The Crown- Seasons 1 and 2: the older I’ve gotten the more fascinating I have found history. In high school, I loathed social studies. I just didn’t get it nor did any of my teachers make it interesting for me so I kind of snoozed my way through to graduation. But now I can’t get enough of historical events with shows like the Crown. The Crown dives into the life of Queen Elizabeth II and the British Royal family. This eye-opening look at history will have you googling the lives of the historical people these characters are based off of.

Alias Grace: a 6 part tv-mini series. I didn’t know what to expect when going into this show. I started it on a whim and thought that I wouldn’t like it. However, one of the characters is Anna Paquin, who I’ve loved since True Blood, so I gave it a chance and I’m so glad I did. This is such a good series you’ll want to binge watch the entire series in one sitting. This one is dark and twisty with a surprising ending. The best way I can think to describe Alias Grace is that it is like a mash-up of Downton Abbey and Wentworth.

Victoria- Masterpiece on PBS- Season 2. I’m so glad that PBS has another show that I love just as much as I did with Downton Abbey. You have to catch this one either online or TV, but if you are a fan of historical period dramas you’ll like this one just as much as the Crown. It is kind of mind blowing following the story of Queen Victoria knowing that she is the great-great-grandmother of the current queen, Queen Elizabeth II. It is also interesting to compare the two periods in history to see how far society had progressed between the years.

Book Review of Aliens Among Us by Barry StrohmAliens Among Us: Exploring Past and Present by Barry Strohm I first stumbled across Barry Strohm when I heard him as a guest during a podcast I listen to. His story is unique and different in the fact that he didn’t believe in aliens or ghosts for the majority of his life. It wasn’t until recently all of that changed. With the use of a Ouija board Barry and his wife communicate with those on the other side and the answers he is given are quite surprising. He’s been keeping track of what the spirits have revealed to him and has compiled what he has received so far into this book. With the recent launch of a Tesla into space on board the SpaceX Falcon Heavy, I think a lot of us are curious are a bit more curious as to what is really out there. I don’t know about you but I’m more than ready for some answers.

Snack of the Week

Whether it’s something homemade or a new product spotted at the grocery store, binge-watching your favorite show always calls for a snack break.

popchips nutter puffs- snack of the week- This Weeks Bingelist: The Crown, Alias Grace, Victoria, and more! (Issue #01) - This Weeks Bingelist is a stream-worthy entertainment guide. This weekly series features the best content from across the web that can be enjoyed wherever there is an internet connection.

This week I tried out the new popchips nutter puffs. I was sent 3 different flavors of popchips nutter puffs from a PR company to try: peanut butter, peanut butter & honey, and peanut butter & chocolate.** My favorite out of the 3 was the peanut butter & honey. The peanut butter is unmistakable with these snacks. I felt the peanut butter & honey flavor was the best flavor choice because of the tiny bit of sweetness from the honey that seemed to balance out the saltiness from the peanut butter. These snacks aren’t very sweet but also are not extremely salty either. I feel they would be paired well with something a bit sweeter like fruit or a glass of vanilla milk.

Mine is PLL, pretty little liars, I’m almost done with it. Then I’m moving to the crown because I can’t help but to fall in love with any show the revolves around royalty.

Alias Grace was SO dang good! I’m a little sad that it’s not coming back! Now, though I’m a little behind on the bandwagon, I’m binging all of the seasons of ‘Gossip Girl’ and I’m shamelessly hooked!

We are Netflix people also! I have been wondering about the Crown! We are waiting for Orange Is The New Black to come back on! And also hoping for Travelers to return.

I will need to try Alias Grace after reading your review, I had been pondering it for a while. I watched Victoria and absolutely loved it. As for the snacks, I’ve been eating the large round popchips but those peanut ones sound amazing, they remind me of something I used to eat while in Holland!

I STILL have to watch The Crown. I’ve heard of so many people watching it. Will have to check out the things you’ve listed. And you’re right, self care is so important. I try to take some time for myself each day. The nutterpuffs sound like a yummy treat to include during those times!

When I had my first child I thought “break?..I don’t need a break. This is fun!” After my second child I was like *zombie mode* for the first few weeks and then I spent time learning time management so I could get my kids on the same schedule and incorporate break times for me lol.

Thanks for the movie/t.v show suggestions!

We agree about the importance of self-care. I love the idea of a weekly bingle list, and as I haven’t seen any of the series yet, I know what I’ll be doing tomorrow :D

I’ve heard very good things about The Crown, but I just don’t think I have the time to have a binge as so so busy at the moment! When I do however, definitely watching these things!!
