Family Movie Night: Bumblebee
I’m a mom of two boys. Bumblebee has been a part of our lives since my boys were both very little fellas. Bumblebee is a character you instantly fall in love with as he captivates your heart as the hero of Earth against the Decepticons. Of course, my boys are all about the action and adventure of Bumblebee and the other Transformers. I was surprised to see John Cena in the cast of this movie. Overall, this is a good family movie that everyone will want to watch.
Plan a Family Movie Night at Home:
I like the idea of having a themed family movie night. We try to have a family movie night at least once a week with the kids. Whether you are just wanting to sit and watch something together or you want to go all out with different themed activities, family movie night is a great way to spend quality time as a family.
Bumblebee was just released on Blu-ray & Digital. Why not turn your weekend into a movie extravaganza with the Transformers Ultimate 6-Movie Collection. Watch all 5 Transformers movies and end your bingewatch with the newly released Bumblebee.
TV Shows to Bingewatch this Week:
A Discovery of Witches on AMC
After watching the first episode of A Discovery of Witches, I can’t wait for episode 2 to be released on Sunday (4/14). I have high hopes for this show. Because the season 9 finale of the Walking Dead just aired, I have a hole to fill in shows to watch on a weekly basis. I was a big fan of True Blood back in the day, so I’m hoping this will give me those sort of feels but it is still yet to be determined. I’m going to give this show a few more episodes before I fully commit. However, I have added the book to my must-read list as this series is based off of the All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness.
The Walking Dead on AMC
AMC is kind of my jam. I love the majority of the things that they produce. I especially love “The Talking Dead” at the end of episodes of the Walking Dead. There is so much that goes into every episode of the Walking Dead, to not have a discussion about it after each episode just doesn’t seem right. With some of the crazy scenarios these characters have to go through, you’ll want to strategies and come up with a game plan of your own. Another season of the Walking Dead has come and gone and now I feel empty. Luckily, I’ve been eyeing a few other shows on AMC to pass the time until the season 10 begins.
Books to Read
Do you like to read books? I’m trying to push myself to read more books this year. On GoodReads, I can keep track of the books that I want to read plus the books I’ve already read and what I’m currently reading. I’ve been on GoodReads for a very long time but haven’t really read that many books. Each year they have a challenge where you can set a goal for the number of books that you want to read in the year and it keeps a cute little tracker for you as a way to encourage you to meet your goal. You can see my current status over there on my sidebar plus the books I’m currently reading. I set my goal to read just one book a month to start out. I have a feeling I might pass that.
Hidden Bodies by Caroline Kepnes I would highly recommend listening to the audiobook version of this book if you are any sort of fan of the tv show YOU on Netflix. Hidden Bodies is a continuation of what happens to Joe after YOU ends. Yes, there will be a second season of YOU on Netflix but if you are like me and can’t wait for production to wrap then grab this book now! The person that narrates the story in Hidden Bodies sounds very similar to the guy that plays Joe in the tv show version. He does a fantastic job of speaking the way you imagine Joe would speak in real life.
How I’m Reading more Books:
Most of the books that I read, I read through Scribd. Scribd has a good selection of books and audiobooks that you can read for less than $10 a month. If you have never tried Scribd before, with my referral link you can snag 2 free months of reading to try it out which you can, of course, cancel if you are not into it after your free trial. I like that Scribd offers books and audiobooks, that way I can read several books at once. Each month I pick a couple audiobooks and a couple books to read. The audiobooks I usually am able to listen to fairly quickly as I will typically listen to an audiobook while cleaning the house or making dinner for my family. However, the actual books, that require me to read them, I save for bedtime as I’m trying to develop the habit of reading before bed instead of using my phone.
Must-Watch on Youtube
Supreme Banana’s Ayahuasca Experience (4 Part Video Series)
The thought of me, personally, doing Ayahausca isn’t something that necessarily appeals to me. Listening to other peoples stories, however, does. I feel I would, probably, be one of those people that spends their entire trip “ralphing” into a bucket which doesn’t sound like a very fun experience. So, I’ll just stick with listening to other people describe their own experiences. Recently, one of my favorite YouTubers decided to travel to Rythmia Spiritual Retreat Center in Costa Rica to experience Ayahausca first-hand for herself. I found the entire 4-part video series to be rather interesting.
Recommended Podcast to Listen to this Week
Finding a good podcast that resonates with you can be a little difficult, that is why I like to share my favorite episodes with you when I find them. I like to listen to podcasts when I’m not listening to an audiobook that I’m trying to read. Often times I’ll listen to podcasts while pinning on Pinterest, relaxing in a bath, cooking dinner for my family, or just cleaning up around the house.
The Joe Rogan Experience: #1272 Lindsey Fitzharris
I found Lindsey Fitzharris to be absolutely fascinating on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast. I prefer to listen/watch this podcast on Youtube versus just listening to the podcast on my phone. Joe Rogan’s podcast is one that I don’t listen to all the time unless I find something interesting through various clips featured on Youtube. For this particular podcast with Lindsey Fitzharris, I would highly recommend watching it on Youtube as she shares a variety of visuals you’ll want to see for yourself. Lindsey is an author and medical historian. What she brings to the table is beyond fascinating. I can’t wait to get my hands on her book The Butchering Art: Joseph Lister’s Quest to Transform the Grisly World of Victorian Medicine which dives into some of the early advancements in medicine. It is baffling to me to see how far we have come in medicine in only 100 years.
Music to Add to your Playlist: Billie Eilish
I’m obsessed with Billie Eilish’s music right now. I love how different and unique she is, how she is unapologetically herself. In a world where everyone follows what everyone else is doing, seeing someone standing up and against the crowd is like a breath of fresh air. It is rare to see someone break onto the music scene that is so genuine amongst all the “cookie cutter” artists that the industry tries to push onto us. Billie Eilish is one to watch as her career is skyrocketing.
My favorite songs by Billie have already been added to my playlists on Spotify. Follow me on Spotify or give one of my playlists a listen. “Mixin’ it Up!” is a playlist that is a compilation of all of the music I have and currently like. My “Domestic Playlist” is the playlist of current songs that I like to listen repeatedly.
Looking Forward to these Future Releases:
The Craft remake: Cast, release date and everything you need to know Am I the only one excited about The Craft remake/reboot that’s happening? Whether its a continuation of the original story or a remade version of the original cult classic, I can not wait for this movie to be released. The Craft was released when I was in high school. I was captivated by this coven of women and to this day The Craft is one of my all time favorite movies. Yes, there is a potential for this movie to end up badly, but fingers crossed the new movie will be just as loved as the original.
