Alright guys, I’ve been working hard setting up several of my extended content sites so that you can get a little more taste of what I do in social media. So this is what I need you to do, I need you to follow, subscribe, or bookmark me. Pretty, pretty please!
Here are the sites that I would highly recommend you bookmarking, subscribing, or following me on because they are updated very frequently….
Utterz: this is that little audio box above the blog posts that you may have been wondering what it was. These are recorded messages by me throughout the days and weeks updating you on what is going on or what is on my mind at the moment. Think podcast.
Twitter: I love twitter! Twitter is great to keep up with everything that I am doing plus a great way to get to know new people. Follow me and I follow back!
YouTube & Viddler are my two video hosts. Subscribe to these feeds please to stay up to date! If you have a youtube or viddler account I will befriend or subscribe to your content as well.
Flickr: this where I post my photographs.
So please follow, subscribe, or bookmark my other social networking sites so I can find out how many of you loyal readers are keeping up with my videos, pics, tweets, and utterz.

Please let me know if this tutorial has helped you in any way. Also if you don’t mind showing off your work, post a link to the photo that you edited.

Someone commented on the photo above wanting to know what my secret was to creating this shot and the lens used. The lens that I used to take this photo is my new Tamron AF 70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di LD macro 1:2 lens that my father bought for me on my birthday.
With this lens I do not have to get right up on the subject that I am taking a photo of, I can be a good distance away from it (or across the yard) if I would like. At the time of taking this photo it had just rained, the clouds parted and sunshine began to shine. I quickly grabbed my camera and began taking photos of the flowers and plants that were in my yard. I wanted to capture nature at its finest, untouched. I swear to you I had no way of arranging those water droplets in that manner, that is the way that they sat upon the leaf of our rose bush.
If you can’t capture a photo right after it rains, you can take a spray bottle with some water on it and mist whatever subject you would like to take a photo of. And as always it is a good idea to adjust the brightness and contrast in a photo editing program to get your photos to really pop and stand out. Just doing some minor tweaking by adjusting the brightness and contrast on an image can really bring an ordinary everyday photo to life.

Since obtaining the Sony Alpha a300 DSLR camera from the Sony Mommy Blogger Event, I’ve been trying my hand at photography. One of the biggest things I’ve wanted to learn how to do with my photography is to get a good lens flare. Lens Flare is when you shoot directly into the sun in hopes of catching sunbeams and the little sun spots on your image.
To be completely honest, the photo taken above was done entirely by accident. I saw my youngest son struggling with this red wagon and wanted to capture the moment on film. It just so happened to be around the time that the sun was going down. He was positioned in such a way that my camera naturally caught a glimpse of lens flare. I think it really makes the picture POP and adds a nice effect to the overall mood of the photo.
What do you think of the picture?

So many of you voted on which headshot that you liked the best. Thank you so much for voicing your opinions and telling me which headshot you thought looked the best. I had people emailing me, direct messaging me on twitter, and of course commenting on the headshot post that it was almost impossible to keep track of all the votes but they have been tallied. I’m sure all of you are anxious to know which headshot I choose and why.
With all of the votes in, there was practically a tie between Headshot #1 & Headshot #6 with Headshot #7 coming in a close third. But we have to have a winner and that winner is…..
When I originally saw the headshots, I knew #6 would be a winner especially after my father started to edit it. After I got my hands on the photos, I thought to myself well, Headshot #1 might be a possible winner as well, which you all have proved. I was stuck on deciding whether or not I should choose #6 or #1 when I created the original blog post. Little did I know that writing that blog post would make my decision that much harder because everyone loved the two that I loved! Crazy. But with the votes we were able to determine that indeed #6 should be the one.
Why is #6 the winner? Well for one simple fact it got more votes, and by more I mean like two more votes than #1. Another factor was that I know everyone else is going to take the same type headshots and being the funky mom that I am, I have to be a little different from the group (as if the reverse mullet wasn’t evident enough) to stand out amongst the crowd. Besides the editing job that my Dad did on this photo is just awesome! But if I have (I say that gritting my teeth) to go the “traditional” route then I will go with #1 as my backup but for now I’m sticking with #6.
Thank you so much everyone that voted! You’ve really helped me out a lot.
