1 Christmas Present

Dec 31, 2006 Author: The Domestic Diva | Filed under: Beauty

I am so glad I did my nails the other day. I got a Dynex Wireless Optical Mouse from christmas for hubby and I absolutely love it! I don’t know where it has been my whole laptop using life. I used to just run my finger over the touchpad. I tried doing that when I had my mouse unplugged and it was fairly hard with my nails all long and gorgeous. LOL. I’ve noticed it is alot harder to type as well but I’m getting the hang of it, I think. I still mess up and press wrong keys more often than when my nails are not done but better to miss a key than have ragged nails… Ahhh, all for the price of beauty.

Nails

Dec 30, 2006 Author: The Domestic Diva | Filed under: Commercial Break, Beauty

Yesterday, I did my nails. They were long over due for a little TLC. I took photos of the before and after results. You can see in the before I was trying to sport the goth nail look that most celebrities are attempting to pull off right now. And as you can see my polish is all chipped off due to housework. *Sigh* So I went acrylic. And yes I did do it myself. That is the beauty of being a cosmetology/esthetics dropout. I’m just really good at all things makeup and hair. So what do you think? Likey, or no likey. I think they are ubber cute! I keep catching myself starring at them since I rarely have my nails done. Besides when you have a little length to your nail it makes you fingers look longer and not so squatty.

Oh and you guys no I’m frugal so how much do you think I saved by doing my nails myself? I estimate I saved $15.00!!!! Cost of a full set at a salon starts at about $20.00, cost of the materials to do it yourself $5.00…you do the math!

Wet Dream?

Jul 19, 2006 Author: The Domestic Diva | Filed under: Commercial Break, Beauty

Ok so I’m in bed, right. I’m in dreamland. A deep sleep. Loving the dream I’m having. Happy. Content. Restful. KoJo [my dog] is sleeping on top of my legs, on top of the covers. He’s in dreamland. A deep doggy sleep. Loving his doggy dreams. Happy. Content. Restful.

All of a sudden I feel a warm sensation begin to trickle down my legs. Am I dreaming? This is one weird dream. I continue to feel it. What the heck is going on? I pull myself out of dreamland. What is going on? Just about the time the warm wet sensation stops and turns cold, I abruptly wake myself completely up and fully realize what exactly is going on. KoJo is dreaming of….

PEEING!

Yes, thatz right ppl. My puppy-dog was dreaming of peeing and actually pee’d in his sleep….ON ME! Talk about a rude awakening.

So now here I sit….6 am. I’m bathed, the dog’s bathed, and the comforter and sheets are in the wash…..FULLY AWAKE! My Son will get the rest of his 4 hrs of sleep. I on the other hand can not go back to sleep after such a horrific awakening [and the fact that my bed now smells like dog pee….worst smell EVER….worse than baby poop].

So what does a mother do when she is awakened by being pee’d on by a sleeping dog? Color her hair and shave her legs of course. What? Did you actually expect that I’d be doing house work right now?!?! Hah! It’s mommy time now. I don’t think I’ve shaved my legs in like a month…ha ha.

What’s In Your Makeup Bag?

So I just joined this flickr group that encourages you to pull out your makeup and take a picture of your goods. I don’t have a makeup bag, instead I have a makeup box- kind of like a tackle box, lol.

Funny Things…

May 7, 2006 Author: The Domestic Diva | Filed under: Commercial Break, Beauty

First of all, I colored my hair like I said I would. It is now a light ash brown. It will fade as time goes on. Also, since I was up for a little change I decided to give my bangs a little snippity-snip-snip. I’m not used to them being short, so it will take some getting used to. Hubby actually noticed that I looked different. He never notices when I do a different beauty trick. But this time, he said he liked my bangs. He likes them in my face for some reason. He says they are Hot! LOL

Here is a picture of the new ‘do.

Now on to my funny story…

Friday, “Cinco de ‘Mayo’”

All day I was getting e-mails, recipe/food related e-mail newsletters, about the holiday “cinco de mayo”. And after each one I kept thinking to myself “What is with everybody and mayonaise today?” “Why is everyone on this mayonaise kick?” Now keep in mind none of the e-mails had anything to do with mayonaise but mexican dishes instead. I didn’t realize until later that night that “Mayo” in “Cinco de mayo” isn’t like the mayo as an abbreviated version of mayonaise but the spanish word for “may”. You would think that after 2 years of spanish that I would know how to spell “mayo”. Talk about a blonde moment for sure. I felt so stupid. LOL

Beauty Day

May 5, 2006 Author: The Domestic Diva | Filed under: Commercial Break, Beauty

Since all afternoon we are supposed to be having the typical spring thunderstorms, I have declared today, BEAUTY DAY!!! As I type this I have a face mask on my face unclogging my lovely pores. Later I will give myself a pedicure, I’m thinking french manicure. Then if it stops raining, I will go grocery shopping and while I’m there I’ll pick up some haircolor to dye my hair. Since I’m such a girl, I love beauty days.

And of course in honor of beauty day I gotta give ya some free samples. So, here you go:

Crazy Day

Would you give weird looks if you saw this person driving a car around your town?

The answer is probably yes. Well the majority anyway as I experienced it first hand today. Let me explain myself a little. First off, I usually try to designate a beauty day for myself where I will do a face mask, give myself a pedicure, and color my hair if it is that time of the month. Well this afternoon about 3ish, hubby calls up and tells me that he has gotten off of work early because he had met his 40 hrs for the week. I had just finished applying a face mask and wasn’t about to wash it off as it would have defeated the purpose so I scoop up the p-nut and head out to get the hubby. I had people giving me double looks, slamming on breaks, and just right out staring when I was stopped at a light. Now I know it isn’t everday that you see a woman with a face mask driving a car so I completely understand the looks and stares. I had alot of great laughs as I saw peoples reactions to the way that I looked. This isn’t the first time that I have had to rush out of the house and pick the hubby up at work with a face mask on. I always seem to have the perfect timing but those times in the past have always been at night and not that many people could see me because it was so dark. It is alot different in the day time when people can actually see you…cheesegirl.png.On another note, tomorrow we are having a family get together and I found out about it at last minute. I decided to bake my Pecan Lovers Dream Cake to take to the festivities. So, yes, here it is 2 am and I am waiting on my cakes to cool enough to ice them sickgirl.png.

Oh and another thing, today I got a movie in the mail that I have been dying to see and just my luck as I put it in the DVD player to watch during supper the darn thing wouldn’t play notsuregirl.png. Why wouldn’t it play you ask? Well the DVD is cracked all the way through the disk. It looks like someone steps on it or it got bent during shipping. So I’m a little heated about not being able to watch it sadgirl.png. I have to e-mail the company and complain now. There is no telling when I’ll actually see it crygirl.png.

More Christmas Presents?

Dec 28, 2005 Author: The Domestic Diva | Filed under: Beauty, Product Reviews

The great thing about ordering things off of the internet, is that you never really know when you will receive it in the mail. Even though Christmas was a couple of days ago, I am still receiving gifts that my husband ordered for me off the net. It is like everyday I’m getting something new.
Bare MineralsToday I received a Bare Escentuals, Mineral Foundation kit. I took it upon myself to give ya’ll a review of the product. They claim to cover up the redness of pimples [god, knows I have plenty of them], give greatPre-makeup coverage, even claiming to improve the condition and over-all look of the skin. So I took beforeand after photos so that you could see the results for yourself. You be the judge.

My Review: xxx
Does cover blemishes like it claims, but looks a little cakey at times. After

Doesn’t cover dark circles or veins very well [I am pretty pale, I have to worry about stuff like that]

Doesn’t minimize the appearance of large pores.

My skin Does seem to look better in overall appearance.

My skin doesn’t look like the make-up is caked on.

Was very easy to apply.

Will probably buy this item again. It is supposed to improve the skins condition so I’ll let you know how that goes in a couple weeks or so.

[edit] Makes my skin feel a little on the dry side, despite the fact that I put moisturizer on before using bare minerals[/edit]
