[Half] Day in the Life of the Domestic Diva

Aug 25, 2006 Author: The Domestic Diva | Filed under: Commercial Break

I don’t know who started this meme or where I saw it. I give full credit to the original creator of the Day in the Life thing, this is not my original idea. Ok, with that said, enjoy my day…

[edit] I had a FULL day written out with pictures but when I went to post it, somehow half of the post got cut off, since I don’t want to go back and do it all over again, I will just post half a day. Sometime next week I’ll do a full day for you guys. Enjoy![/edit]

Good Morning! I was originally up at 7 but the hubby went and got the p-nut and put him in the bed with me so that I could get a couple more hours of sleep. So we woke up at 9.

I thought I could sneak off and get a shower before the little one woke up again but as soon as I took this picture he woke up. So much for that shower. Funky it is!
So off we are to get ready for the day.

Our drug of choice this morning…strawberry milk [p-nut] and a starbucks double shot [for me].

Before breakfast lets go outside for a little while before it gets too hot. P-nut and KoJo will enjoy a short game of “run around the yard and try to steal the stick from me then get mad because I won’t give it up”.

Breakfast time for the p-nut. On today’s menu…Oatmeal!

Whilst the oatmeal sits in the freezer cooling off, lets try to watch a couple of minutes of the news.

P-nut throws a fit because he wants to eat…NOW! Oh wait, mommy is taking a picture, lets pose so that all of internet land doesn’t know how bad I really am.

Oatmeals done, time to eat! Ooops, mommy forgot to add cinnamon and sugar.

Mommy adds the cinnamon and sugar, Lets give it another taste. Brace yourself! [also p-nut’s impression of eating like cookie monster from sesame street.]
Much better mommy! So much better that some fingers got involved in the eating process.

Whilst p-nut finishes up his oatmeal, mommy tries to get in a few “relaxing” poses of yoga in. That didn’t last long, Dog thought I wanted to play with him.

After yoga, mommy makes her breakfast.

    5 fruit/veg yogurt smoothie

    • 1 container of Dannon Light & Fit Crave Control w/ Protein Fiber Plus
    • 5 frozen blackberries
    • 1/2 c. orange juice
    • 10 baby carrots
    • 1 peeled/cut apple
    • 5 strawberries

Mix in a blender and enjoy!

A delicious smoothie and soft pretzel.

P-nut enjoys a smoothie long with mommy.

Now it is time to go and play outside some more.

Noon: Mommy enjoys an hour of “mommy time” by listening to Days of Our Lives on television and signing up to participate in:

Product Review: Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Fudge Brownie Milkshake

Aug 22, 2006 Author: The Domestic Diva | Filed under: Product Reviews, Shopping

Yet, another wonderful find whilst grocery shopping were the *New* Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Fudge Brownie Milkshakes . What a wonderful concept. They were right next to the Starbucks Doubleshots and Frappaccino’s, an aisle I frequent often, I saw the chocolatey goodness starring back at me, screaming for a review. A grabbed one and rushed to the checkout. I couldn’t wait to pop it in the fridge to get it nice and cold so that I could taste it. On the bottle it says it is

a euphoric milk beverage, all shook up with rich chocolate & other natural flavors

. You will definately go into a choco-euphoria or a choco-coma after drinking this beverage. It is so thick with rice starch that it actually coats the glass and pours slowly from its glass, exactly what you want with a milkshake. Don’t you hate it when the milkshake is “watery” and doesn’t have enough “shake” to it. It isn’t made with icecream, but you couldn’t tell the difference if you tried. And ladies, for those of you that crave chocolate during your monthly “Aunt Mary” visit this is definatley that fix you were looking for. The 8 fl. oz. bottle tops off with a whopping 340 calories! Definately not diet friendly. I wouldn’t reccommend scarfing one of these down every day or even once a week, it is more of a once a month/celebration/chocolate craving/”aunt mary”/mood lifting type of drink.

    SCORE: **** 4 out of 4 stars

Absolutley LOVE IT! A must buy for chocoholics.

Side Note: Ben & Jerry’s or any other company has not paid or forced me to make this review. I simply made the review out of curiosity and the goodness of my heart. This is a completely honest/unbiased review, with no stirngs attached.

    Product Review: Garnier Color Breaks

Aug 21, 2006 Author: The Domestic Diva | Filed under: Commercial Break, Product Reviews

So whilst at the grocery store yesterday, I scanned the haircolor aisle and came across this new product by Garnier called “Color Breaks”. It is mainly for color-treated hair. You know how most boxed haircolor is just one overall color, well this will give you multitonal color. If you are like me, and like to jazz it up a bit with some highlights then this is a product for you.

This product was fairly easy to use. Instructions were pretty clear. I used the No.2 for dark blonde to light brown hair. My hair didn’t lighten up as light as it was on the box, instead it gave me some nice caramel highlights. It is a big difference from before. And the best part is that it was fairly cheap. Most highlighting kits cost $10 or higher, this one was around $6 and some change. Pretty sweet deal if you ask me.

Ok here is the b4 picture [sorry it is of me eating a doughnut, LOL]…

And here are a few after results….

SCORE: **** 4 out of 4 stars LOVE IT!

    New Discoveries

Aug 11, 2006 Author: The Domestic Diva | Filed under: Commercial Break, Recipes, Shopping

So, I went grocery shopping in my new town for the very first time this week.  Let me tell you, it was soooo frustrating.  I had been shopping at the same grocery store my whole entire life and now to go to a completely new town with a completely new store was quite a change.

    1. they DON’T HAVE A KROGER!  What town doesn’t have a Kroger?  I used to buy the kroger brand training pants for p-nut because they were just like the Huggies Pull-ups but about $5 cheaper, now I have to buy the expensive stuff because I haven’t found another off-brand that compares to the Kroger brand.
    2. Prices are HIGHER!  I’m cheap/frugal as everyone knows.  These prices here are insanely high.  At least there are coupons.  I can save a little bit of money that way.
    3. NO PITA BREAD!  I love making my 3 cheese pita pizza, especially for breakfast, but these people don’t carry pre-made pita bread in their stores, more importantly they don’t even know what it is!  So I bought bagels instead; 3 cheese bagel pizza’s in not as good as pita pizza but it will have to do.  There is still the option of making my own pita, but that is some new territory I haven’t been to yet.
    4. “Feta Cheese, Please.”  “Uh, what’s that?”  That is the reaction I got from the 3 stores that I visited.  Feta cheese is awesome on 3 cheese pita pizza.  If you’ve never tried it I suggest that you do.  Yummy!  Darn you Green Country!

Did I mention that my new house has a gas stove?!?!  I’ve never used a gas stove….EVER!  Quite the learning experience.  Let’s just say that the first couple of meals were burnt well done.

    98 degrees…Please!

Aug 10, 2006 Author: The Domestic Diva | Filed under: Commercial Break

Last night I was watching the Late show and he was complaining about it being 98°F in New York. Please! Give me a break. You have got to be kidding me. You think 98°F is hot. You don’t know what hot is!

Do you know how hot it is today in green country? Try…

    107° F !!!!!

Yes, you read that right. ONE HUNDRED AND SEVEN DEGREES FAHRENHEIT!!!!! To top it off, the wind is blowing so it feels like you step into a hairdryer everytime you go outside. I welcome a 98° F day, that would be like winter for me.
