Sew, you dreamed about what?

Apr 6, 2007 Author: The Domestic Diva | Filed under: Shopping, Crafts, Sewing

I suppose you realize you have a new obsession in your life when you start to dream about it. I’ve been dreaming about sewing. How crazy is that. In particular, last night I dreamt about a sewing basket I saw at Wal-mart. You know you really want something when you are dreaming about it.
Now as anyone knows If I don’t go to Walmart today and buy that beauty then I will kick myself down the road when I’ve accumulated enough sewing stuff to be stored and have no place to store it. This is how alot of my shopping goes. I’m not very impulsive when I buy things. I always have to just “think about it”. If I can’t stop thinking about it then I know that it is a must have item for my home. If I forget about it and never give it another thought then it just wasn’t ment to be.

I heart you, Ebay!

Dec 8, 2006 Author: The Domestic Diva | Filed under: Shopping

Over the years, me and ebay.com have had a love/hate kind of relationship. Sometimes I love it, sometimes I hate it. It just all depends on the season, the time, the day. I think I’ve fallen back in love again. Since opening my own crafty business, Craftique, and with my paypal account rollin’ [ok, not really rollin’ but I finally have some money in there for once instead of just cobwebs], I decided to check ebay to see if I could find some much needed things for my sons potty training and some xmas gifts for myself as a reward for a job well done on my new business.

At the top of my list were some potty training equipment. I wanted a potty seat that goes on the “big” potty with elmo or sesame street characters on it. Found it! Plus a book for boys on potty training!!!
Some training underpants for pnut that have the extra padding in the front and back in case of an accident [no store around here has them]. Found! Lot of 12!!! Woo-hoo!!!

I wanted to try out some of the Models Prefer line of makeup. So I got the Aquavit Perfect Prep Brush On Face Primer and the yellow neutralizing powder.

I went back to my trusty Revlon Skinlights concealer, which is the only concealer that I’ve found works to hide my raccoon eyes, after I got outbid at the last minute for the Models Prefer Aquavit concealer.

I got a prenatal yoga video to do during my pregnancy called, Crunch: Yoga Mama.  It came yesterday, I will be looking at it after I finish this post.

What started my whole journey on ebay was my search for a 4 to 4 pin firewire.  I needed a firewire to connect my laptop and camcorder together so that I can upload videos of pnut on the net for my family and friends to see.  I went to Best Buy and the Geek squad told me what kind of firewire I needed but their’s was close to $40.00!  Rediculous.  So I headed to walmart and they had firewire but it was the 6 to 4 pin kind not the 4 to 4 pin.  Theirs was significantly lower in price from Best Buy coming in at $25.00 but since they didn’t have the kind that I needed I had to go find it somewhere else.  So to ebay, I turned.  I found exactly what I needed and get this….it only cost…. $5.00!!!!  that includes shipping.  The firewire was $1.00 and the shipping $4.00.  Talk about a deal.  I just saved $35.00-$20.00 depending on how you look at it.  And if you want to see the videos that I’ve uploades so far go here.

There is one more thing that I want to get for christmas.  I told the hubby that I wanted this to use as my post-pregnancy workout so I can get my sexyback!  ha!  It is yoga booty ballet.  I don’t know if any of ya’ll have seen the info-mercial but it looks pretty good and the before/after photos are pretty convincing. Whenever I get one at a decent price and have a chance to try it out, I will definately tell you guys if it is worth the money or not.

I rarely get to do any shopping, so this is a very exciting post for myself.  Being on a SAHM’s budget you just can’t go blowing money on stuff like “normal” people.  But every once in a while I get to have a much needed spree where I usually am able to get the much needed things.

So that is what I’ve been doing lately, patiently waiting for auctions to end and then peer out my window every 5 mins to see if the mail man has arrived and if so if he has packages!

Finally

MY RAINBOOTS ARE HERE! MY RAINBOOTS ARE HERE!!!
Like in a previous post I stated that I tried to order another pair of rainboots from amazon.com. We’ll they came in the mail today, and I’m so excited. I can’t wait till it snows or rains so I can test these puppies out! How much of a nerd am I to get excited over rainboots? Even though they are lime green they are still super cute. I am really suprised that they even came today since amazon.com told me they wouldn’t be here until Sept. 19th.
Side note: pardon the grainy pictures and ponytailed hair. I took these pictures while the little ones were taking their naps so I didn’t/don’t have alot of time. Don’t pay attention to my outfit either, I’m sure I have baby spit up somewhere on shirt, just look at the boots!

Let’s Try this again…

Sep 7, 2006 Author: The Domestic Diva | Filed under: Shopping

***Click to View***So, the target partner store with amazon.com got a new shipment of rainboots in all different colors and patterns. You may have recalled a couple of previous posts about my annoyance with amazon.com and the failure of receiving a pair of rain boots that I absolutely loved. We’ll I’m going to try it again. They still didn’t have the black and white one’s in stock that I wanted so I had to settle for second best. I narrowed my pick down to two….a cheap looking pink pair, and an artistic looking green pair. After consulting my mother’s artistic eye we both decided on the green pair. They are due to be shipped out tomorrow. They won’t arrive, however, until next week some time [Sept. 15th-18th]. I’m really excited about getting my new boots. I want them mainly to slosh around in the snow in [if we get any, which I’ve heard we should].

What made me attempt to get a pair of rain boots again? Funny you should ask, well this morning I woke up to a chilly 54°F weather. I had to put on a hoodie to walk the dog. If it is this chilly in September, I can only imagine how cold it is going to be in winter. And with winter, hopefully, comes snow. And snow requires cute rain boots, does it not?

Product Review: Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Fudge Brownie Milkshake

Aug 22, 2006 Author: The Domestic Diva | Filed under: Product Reviews, Shopping

Yet, another wonderful find whilst grocery shopping were the *New* Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Fudge Brownie Milkshakes . What a wonderful concept. They were right next to the Starbucks Doubleshots and Frappaccino’s, an aisle I frequent often, I saw the chocolatey goodness starring back at me, screaming for a review. A grabbed one and rushed to the checkout. I couldn’t wait to pop it in the fridge to get it nice and cold so that I could taste it. On the bottle it says it is

a euphoric milk beverage, all shook up with rich chocolate & other natural flavors

. You will definately go into a choco-euphoria or a choco-coma after drinking this beverage. It is so thick with rice starch that it actually coats the glass and pours slowly from its glass, exactly what you want with a milkshake. Don’t you hate it when the milkshake is “watery” and doesn’t have enough “shake” to it. It isn’t made with icecream, but you couldn’t tell the difference if you tried. And ladies, for those of you that crave chocolate during your monthly “Aunt Mary” visit this is definatley that fix you were looking for. The 8 fl. oz. bottle tops off with a whopping 340 calories! Definately not diet friendly. I wouldn’t reccommend scarfing one of these down every day or even once a week, it is more of a once a month/celebration/chocolate craving/”aunt mary”/mood lifting type of drink.

SCORE: **** 4 out of 4 stars

Absolutley LOVE IT! A must buy for chocoholics.

Side Note: Ben & Jerry’s or any other company has not paid or forced me to make this review. I simply made the review out of curiosity and the goodness of my heart. This is a completely honest/unbiased review, with no stirngs attached.

New Discoveries

Aug 11, 2006 Author: The Domestic Diva | Filed under: Commercial Break, Recipes, Shopping

So, I went grocery shopping in my new town for the very first time this week.  Let me tell you, it was soooo frustrating.  I had been shopping at the same grocery store my whole entire life and now to go to a completely new town with a completely new store was quite a change.

  1. they DON’T HAVE A KROGER!  What town doesn’t have a Kroger?  I used to buy the kroger brand training pants for p-nut because they were just like the Huggies Pull-ups but about $5 cheaper, now I have to buy the expensive stuff because I haven’t found another off-brand that compares to the Kroger brand.
  2. Prices are HIGHER!  I’m cheap/frugal as everyone knows.  These prices here are insanely high.  At least there are coupons.  I can save a little bit of money that way.
  3. NO PITA BREAD!  I love making my 3 cheese pita pizza, especially for breakfast, but these people don’t carry pre-made pita bread in their stores, more importantly they don’t even know what it is!  So I bought bagels instead; 3 cheese bagel pizza’s in not as good as pita pizza but it will have to do.  There is still the option of making my own pita, but that is some new territory I haven’t been to yet.
  4. “Feta Cheese, Please.”  “Uh, what’s that?”  That is the reaction I got from the 3 stores that I visited.  Feta cheese is awesome on 3 cheese pita pizza.  If you’ve never tried it I suggest that you do.  Yummy!  Darn you Green Country!

Did I mention that my new house has a gas stove?!?!  I’ve never used a gas stove….EVER!  Quite the learning experience.  Let’s just say that the first couple of meals were burnt well done.

FURIOUS!

rainboots.jpgOk, ya’ll remember the rainboots that I’ve been raving over for the past 2 months. Ya’ll know how excited I am to get them. Well let me just tell you, I HATE amazon.com. I never want to do business with them EVER again. Only reason why I did this time was because I had a gift certificate, if you remember from this previous post and this previous post.

Well since being gone all weekend and doing random things around the house, I haven’t really had time to check my e-mail.  So I checked it today and this is what I got….

Hello from Amazon.com.
We are sorry to report that we will not be able to obtain the following
item from your order:
“Women’s Electric Ooze Black and White Rain Boots - 6″
Though we had expected to be able to send this item to you, we’ve
since found that it is not available from any of our sources at this
time.  We realize this is disappointing news to hear, and we apologize
for the inconvenience we have caused you.
We have cancelled this item from your order.
Note: If you took advantage of an Amazon.com or Toysrus.com
promotional offer when placing this order, this cancellation may
affect your order’s eligibility for that offer. If this
is the case, please contact customer service; if we confirm your original
order was eligible, we’ll reimburse you for the value of the promotional
discount. However, we can’t reimburse you for rebates offered by
manufacturers or by Amazon.com.
If appropriate, your gift-certificate account will be credited.
Your order is now closed.

WTF?!?!?!  I looked online today to make sure that they credited me back my money [which they did] but they STILL had the rainboots up for sale.  Why put them up for sale if you are going to make the customer think they are getting them in two months and then e-mail them 3 days before they are supposed to arrive and tell them sorry for getting their hopes up?

Uuugghh!

Jul 17, 2006 Author: The Domestic Diva | Filed under: Shopping

rainboots.jpgRemember back when I told you that I ordered these rainboots from amazon.com.  Well they were out of stock when I ordered them so I had to wait almost 2 months for them to come in.  Well they were supposed to be shipped on the 21st.  I just checked my order and now they won’t be here until the 26-28.  I really won’t those rainboots.  I’m just scared that they aren’t going to get here before I move.  Then I’ll have to wait till my folks come to visit so that they can bring them to me.  Uugghh!  Cross your fingers that they get here in time.

Shopping Conclusion

Jun 7, 2006 Author: The Domestic Diva | Filed under: Shopping

Well I finally decided on which product I wanted to use my gift certificate on. What did I choose? I chose the…

RAIN BOOTS!!!

rainboots.jpg

Only problem is that my lovely boots are currently out of stock!!! They won’t have anymore in until the end of JULY! I know terrible! So I gotta wait for my beauties. But I have terrible “mommybrain” I will probably forget about them then whenever they decide to come in it will be really close to my birthday! So I’ll just think of them as a really cute birthday present for myself. I hope I’m not going to need them between now and then. During hurricane season, our little apartment tends to flood. Hence one reason I was hoping they would come sooner but oh well. I’m just happy that I finally ordered them. Life has been so hectic lately that I haven’t had a chance to breathe!

Oh yeah, right before I clicked the order button I saw a review for these lovely’s.  A lady that had bought them said that they run a size bigger and that I should order a size lower than my actual size.  So trusting that this lady knows what she is talking about I order a 6 instead of a 7.  I hope she wasn’t making it up and then when I get them they are too small that would just suck.  So I’m crossing my fingers that they will fit and I won’t have any problems with them.  I know I’m just going to love them to death!

Product Review: Starbucks Italian Roast Iced Coffee

A Premium Coffee Drink with a Hint of Nonfat Milk & Sugar

On my grocery shopping trip this week, I spotted this beautiful can looking back at me on the coffee aisle shelf screaming “BUY ME!” “YOU KNOW YOU WANNA TRY ME!” With such convincing lines as that, I just had to add it to my cart. I was very anxious to try out the newest product of the starbucks “can” line. But alas I had to wait a couple hours for it to get good and cold as the instructions on the can so politely told me to “serve chilled or over ice”.

Upon visiting the lovely Starbucks website, this is what they had to say about their “new drink”…

Starbucks® Iced Coffee reminds you what it’s like when you are in sync with the world, when things just seem to naturally fall into place… when things just click.

Starbucks® Iced Coffee comes in a tall, sleek 11 ounce can, is best served chilled or poured over ice and is available at your local grocery and convenience stores.

Take Starbucks® Iced Coffee with you everywhere you go. It’s a new way to refresh!

Upon buying this new fandangled coffee beverage my first thoughts are “what is this going to taste like?”. My thoughts were that it would taste like a mixture between a Frappuccino and a Double Shot. Not as sweet as a frappuccino and not as bitter as the double shot. I love, love, LOVE Double Shots. I think they are the greatest thing since sliced bread. Frappuccino’s are ok, they are just a little too sweet for my taste [although the plain coffee version is best out of all the flavors offered]. So I was hoping that this new “Iced Coffee” would be a nice middle, not too sweet and not too bitter. Well I was definenately surprised at the taste. This drink basically taste like watered down coffee. Like when you get a “real” iced coffee at the coffee shop and have let it sit around all day until the ice melted away, the result of that is what it tasted like. Not a good taste I must say. It is definately missing something. I added 3 splenda’s to it to see if I could get it to taste just a little bit better, but of course I had no luck.

Here are the Pro’s and Con’s of this drink…

  • PRO: nice size at 11 oz. of product [way better than the tiny 8 oz. you get in a doubleshot can]
  • PRO: only 100 calories for the WHOLE can…drink up dieters!
  • CON: $1.50-$2.00 a can depending on location and sales [roughly the same cost as a doubleshot; higher than a frappuccino]
  • CON: taste, ultimately the deciding factor on whether or not you have a good product….this definately made the decision for me.
