Blistex Deep Renewal

Must-Have Beauty Product!

Blistex’s new Deep Renewal lip protectant is my new favorite beauty product that I keep on hand at all times. I have one in my purse and one sitting next to me on my desk so that I can be assured to never have chapped lips ever again. Deep Renewal is a new anti-aging treatment for your lips that also supplies your lips with a loads of moisture. I’m not into the anti-aging treatment as much as I am into preventing aging from beginning. I am in my mid-twenties so I don’t have to worry about wrinkles just yet but I am trying my best to prevent the aging process as much as possible.

Lips are probably most forgotten body part when it comes to sun protection. Think about it. We slather sunscreen all over our bodies, we have sunscreen in our foundations, but nothing in our lip wear. Well now this new Blistex Deep Renewal is here to save the day.

Blistex Deep Renewal glides on so smoothly instantly helping your lips to feel healthy and full of life. The scent of this product is great and I love how much moisture this product adds to my lips with every single use. I went a couple of days without using this product and I could really tell the difference it made in my overall lip health of when I used it versus when I didn’t use it.

I Want That!

Look for Blistex Deep Renewal to be hitting store shelves near you very soon!

Webisode 4: Beauty Tip for Lips

I have very thin lips and I have found that just by simply lining them it creates a fuller look. Now I am not one for lipstick because it never stays put and it tastes terrible so I go for either chapstick or lipgloss preferrably the gloss.

Check out the video above and tell me what you think. Do you have any tips or tricks to creating fuller looking lips?

Webisode 3: Beauty Tips for Eyes

Many of you have emailed me wanting to know how I do my eye makeup in the mornings. So here is a little video on how I achieve the make-up look for my eyes with a few tips along the way.

Let me know what you think! Want to see another beauty video? Tell me what kind of Beauty Tips you want to know about.

Many of you have wondered what beauty product I can’t live without. And that product is Powder Foundation! I love powder foundation. Never have I used a makeup that not only helps my skin but also looks fantastic on.

Here are a few brands that I have tried out and loved. They are in order from expensive to affordable….
Bare Escentuals bareMinerals SPF 15 Foundation
Neutrogena Mineral Sheers Mineral Powder Foundation, 0.18 Oz (5.1 g) (Pack of 2)
L’Oreal Bare Naturale Powdered Mineral Foundation SPF 19 Sunscreen

While the above products are great, I found one that is not only cheaper but works just as well as the expensive brands. N.Y.C. (New York Color) Loose Powder Foundation is my absolute favorite right now for the price! It is only like $5-$6 for a fairly large amount of powder foundation, typically more than the expensive brands. It rocks in comparison to even the more expensive grocery store brands like L’Oreal. So if you see this brand at your local supercenter or grocery store, find your shade and try it out. This would be a great way to try out powder foundation to see if you like it without feeling like you are wasting a lot of money.

Let me know what you think? Are you a powder foundation convert?

Faux Hawk or Mohawk?

Sep 17, 2008 Author: The Domestic Diva | Filed under: Beauty, Kidlets

Excited about getting a MoHawk

The definition of a faux hawk according to urbandictionary.com is…

A toned-down version of the famous mohawk haircut, in which the sides of the head are shaved and a central strip of hair is made to stand up. The faux hawk resembles the mohawk when styled but can also, if desired, appear to be a conventional male haircut.

But you see we did shave the sides of pnut’s head, just a little bit, but just not all the way down till we saw skin. So I ask you, is pnut rocking a faux hawk or a mohawk. By definition a faux hawk would be something that looks like a normal haircut but if you wanted something funky all you had to do was gel it out. But a mohawk as we all know is when the sides are completely void of hair with the exception of a thick strip down the middle that you often spike upwards.

So is pnut rocking a faux hawk or a mohawk? Or maybe we should just call it a faux mohawk. What do you think? Either way, I think his new haircut is super cute. It makes him look older. Pnut is loving his new rockstar look. He goes to the mirror every half hour or so, gazes at his reflection, fixes “the hawk”, and then proclaims he is a rockstar!

Faux Hawk or Mohawk?

If you were wondering, yes we typically cut our kids hair ourselves because it saves us money.

Oh, what a day, what a day! It all began with an email informing me of a makeover courtesy of Walmart in honor of being one of the Eleven Moms chosen to be the “money saving guru’s” for their youtube channel that will launch next week on September 3rd! So what is this big makeover for? Professional Headshots!!! Walmart wanted to treat all of us, Eleven Moms, to a makeover and professional headshots for use in the upcoming Money Saving Community. We were all so excited to hear the news and quickly began booking our appointments for hair, makeup, and photo shoots.

Like many others, I haven’t been to the salon in quite some time. In fact the last time I visited a salon was when I was preparing to go to California for the Sony Mommy Blogger Event. Yes, it Walmart Sponsored Makeover: Not your Typical "Mom" Haircuthad been that long. But you know what, I’ve been busy moving house…well, that is what I tell myself in order to get through the day with my unkempt hair. Not anymore! Now I’m rocking my new “reverse mullet” and loving it. Did you just say “reverse mullet”? I sure did! That is what my hairstyle is technically called because I’ve got long in the front and super short in the back. The short in the back allows me to go all business like if I so choose or spike it out for a more fun, punky look. But you know what, ever since I originally cut my hair into this style way back at the first of the year, I must say that it is the best, most flattering hairstyle I’ve had in years. This hairstyle is definitely not your typical “mom” look and has a bit of an edge to it which I totally love. Also, never in my life have I had more compliments on my hair from perfect strangers than when I have my hair cut into this hairstyle. So rock on “reverse mullet”….rock on! You make me look beautiful every single day.

Walmart Makeover: The HaircolorDid I mention the color? Yes, I got to have my hair professionally colored for the first time in five years. The last time I had my hair “professionally” colored was way back in the day when I was attending cosmetology school. I typically color my own hair at home because lets face it, I don’t have an extra $90 laying around to blow on haircolor so the cheap $15 box o’ haircolor does the job for me. It felt so good to be pampered. We went with a platinum blonde and red hightlighting on top of my natural base color. I think the color came out great. Little did I know that it would take 3 hours for a salon to color my hair. Good grief! I had the “flat ass”, that is the syndrome you have after sitting for a long period of time and your butt goes numb, bad by the time I left the salon.

After getting my hair done, I got some headshots made for use with the Walmart Campaign. I will wait and show you the headshots, as well as tell you who took the photographs later on.

So tell me, what do you think of my “reverse mullet”?

Special Thanks!

To my Mom for sitting and taking photographs of my long, drawn out 3 1/2 hour beauty ordeal. You’re a trooper!

To Ms. Paula, my hairstylist, who took me from drab to fab. Who didn’t hesitate when this quiet girl came asking for a wild, crazy punk haircut. You do fabulous work, Paula, and are such a joy to be around. Thank you so much! Remember, when I become famous I’m taking you with me!!! I can’t imagine having anyone else styling my hair.

Red to Blonde Hair: the Dye Job youve been waiting for…

Jul 15, 2008 Author: The Domestic Diva | Filed under: Beauty, Mommy Matters

From Red to Blonde

I know most of you have been anxiously awaiting me to upload the photos I took during my beauty makeover the other day. I was in the mood for change so with the idea in my head I headed out to the store to find a little quick makeover in a box. I got the L’Oreal Couleur Experte Multi-Tonal Color System, Permanent Color, Dark Ash Blonde but next time I think I will go with Light Ash Blonde. Rule of thumb whenever you dye your hair at home is to remember that typically your hair color will come out two shades darker than what is on the box so when you pick something out go two shades lighter.

What do you think of the new look?

I drive two hours to get my hair done!

Apr 7, 2008 Author: The Domestic Diva | Filed under: Beauty

SuspendersNow how many people do you know that would drive two hours just to get a good haircut? Well now you can say that you know one of those crazy people. Last week, I took the trek two hours away just to get my hair done because in approximately 8 days I will be attending a HUGE event (to which is still nameless to you) that I absolutely had to look glamorous for.

Paula, my hairstylist, is amazing and can work her magic on just about anyones hair. I’m sure many of you remember the first time I went to see her to get my ubber cool, punk rock haircut. Well this time I walked in there without a picture and she was able to shorten it up, since it had been 2 months since I last got it cut, exactly how I had it cut originally. I was very impressed. She is such a fun lady and super easy to talk to. I was telling her about the “HUGE event” coming up in a couple of weeks, and she acted really excited for me. I told her that when not if I become famous that she can be my traveling hairstylist.

Paula you rock my socks, and I am more than happy to drive 2 hours just to have you snip my ends!!! :D

Do you have a loyal hairstylist that you just have to see? Do you refuse to go see anyone else?

Clean & Clear Soft In Shower Facial

Mar 28, 2008 Author: The Domestic Diva | Filed under: Beauty, Product Reviews

I am a huge beauty junky and any new products that I get to try involving Beauty gets me excited. I am so glad I found this Clean & Clear Soft In Shower Facial. Its like a mini facial in a bottle.

In your shower, you apply the cream on your face and leave on for a minimum of one minute. I typically put the stuff on my face then wash my body before I rinse it off allowing the steam of the shower to activate the product and deep clean my pores.

Honestly when I first tried this product I was skeptical that it would work, but after the first try you will see that this is not your ordinary in shower facial. This stuff works! It deep cleaned my pores and actually moisturized my skin. It was great!

I love this stuff and will probably add it to my daily skin regimen.

Do You Like the new look? My Punk Rock, Emo, Scene Haircut

Jan 29, 2008 Author: The Domestic Diva | Filed under: Commercial Break, Beauty

punk rock emo scene hairWho is that punk rock chick? Oh wait that is me! I don’t know what possessed me to get such a sassy, punky haircut but I wanted a change…big surprise I know. I actually love my haircut though. My hairstylist did such a good job! This is perhaps the best haircut I’ve had my whole entire life.

Each time I walk by mirrors I give myself double takes. I can’t believe I’m rockin’ such an awesome ‘do. Oh and believe me people are noticing this swank hairstyle. I have had complete strangers stop me and compliment on how much they love my hair. When I went for a quick grocery run the other night, I was blown away at how people reacted to my hair. People would do double takes, completely turn around in their places, and just down right stare at me. I was like jeez its just a haircut…ROFL. I suppose this small town isn’t used to people thinking outside of the normal box. I love to be different and if it gets this small town looking and gossiping then so be it. I’m already known as that weird girl that video tapes herself pumping gas. Why not be the girl that video tapes herself pumping gas with a totally awesome punk rock hairdo. I just wish hubs still had his mo-hawk. Then we would be a cute punk rock family…hee hee.
