This has been a much anticipated review, I’m sure. The Sony Alpha DSLRA300K 10.2MP Digital SLR Camera with Super SteadyShot Image Stabilization with DT 18-70mm f/3.5-5.6 Zoom Lens is the camera that I received while attending the Sony Mommy Blogger Event. I have never used a DSLR before so I can firmly say that learning to use the Sony Alpha over the past few months has been nothing but effortless. The camera just takes absolutely amazing pictures! Along side the Sony Cybershot, I have all the cameras I need at this very moment. I haven’t even bought any new lenses for the Sony Alpha yet, so all of the photos that you see are taken with the original lense that the camera came with.
The Sony Alpha DSLR is one of the first camera’s with a tilting live view finder that I love using to take low angle shots or to take photos way up high. The Sony Alpha is great for taking professional looking photos of the kidlets or artistic photos of still life. If you have been thinking of upgrading from a point & shoot camera to a DSLR, I would HIGHLY recommend the Sony Alpha not just because I attended the Mommy Blogger Event but because this camera continues to blow me away each and every time I use it.
Below are a few examples of the photographs that I have taken using my Sony Alpha…

These are just a few examples of what the Sony Alpha can do with the default lense, you can view more photos on my flickr page.
One mom blogger who attended the event, put it this way concerning her former love for her Canon DSLR…
“Its like I went away for the weekend and I had an affair. I don’t know how to tell my old camera how I feel about my new love.”
Many women who were more experienced with DSLR camera’s couldn’t stop raving about how well the Sony Alpha performed and how they will never go back to their old DSLR’s. In internet speak….
Do you use a DSLR? If so what kind and why?
Are you thinking about purchasing a DSLR in the future? What options are you considering?
While attending the Sony Mommy Blogger Event, we were all given Sony Cybershot Cameras to have fun with. This is by far my favorite camera. I take this camera with me anywhere and everywhere. It even fits in my pocket in my tightest pair of jeans! I encourage anyone in the market for a new point and shoot camera to definitely get one of these. The picture quality and functionality is amazing! You won’t be disappointed.
I was scoping out the Sony website today and came across their blog. Apparently Rick, the head Sony guy that I sat across from at dinner one night in La Jolla, California, wrote a post with the help of Yolanda, another head Sony lady, about their experience at the Sony Mommy Blogger Event. The post is cleverly titled the Mother of all Bloggers. I was so excited to see my name “in lights”.
Sony, you guys rock! I love you all. Thank you so much for choosing me to be apart of something that will truly be great!!!
Since I am now the proud owner of a Sony Alpha a300, it is time for me to get back into the Wordless Wednesday game. This week is a semi-wordless wednesday because I feel the need to explain the photo to your left.
We took a trip to the San Diego Zoo while in California for the Sony Mommy Blogger Event. We were in the Ape/Monkey section when this one particular Ape was pretty sick of all the people taking his photograph. So being the ape that he is, he walks right up to the glass gets on all fours and points his butt right up to the glass window!!! How funny is that. It was if he was saying “So you wanna take my picture, do ya? Well take a picture of this! *shoves butt up to glass”.
Animals are so funny!
While at the Sony Mommy Blogger Event a fellow bloggy mommy comes up to me and says…
“Table for Five wanted me to tell you to say Hi for her. She is a big fan. She said ‘Make sure you tell her I said hello…I know she is there’.”
Wow! I was completely thrown back by that. Me…little ol’ me, a painfully shy southern girl. I told Lisa “Really…Seriously?” “Wow, I don’t even think of myself in that way.” I felt like such the little blogebrity just then. Imagining that I have such a huge influence on others really makes me feel good and having other people say hello on their behalf when they couldn’t be there made me feel tremendous!
So for you Tables4five I give you a great BIG thank you! You really did make my trip!!!
So I bought a little hedgehog at the San Diego zoo while on my stay at the Sony Mommy Blogger Event in California. I was trying to think of a name for him to remember the time that I had out there. My father suggested that I name him “Bouji” in honor of the four star hotel and meals that we ate. I am a very down to earth, southern lady and to put me in an environment that required me to eat something with a different fork and drink from more than one glass was completely out of my element. We had one waiter at a four star restaurant that we ate at that was completely enveloped in the “bouji lifestyle”. We had our five gazillion utensils all laying neatly in a row. I immediately flicked one of the spoons in the middle so that it was sideways just to disrupt the order of things. Immediately “bouji waiter guy” came running over to our table and corrected my misaligned spoon as if the planet were to stop spinning had the spoon not been in its perfect place.
Each time he came to our table he adjusted the spoon and each time I turned it the wrong direction when he left. I thought it was funny to mess with the guy a little bit to see how often he would correct my “southern bad habit”. Life doesn’t have to be that serious. I’m definitely not the type of person that could ever be famous. I couldn’t stand people waiting on me hand and foot, nor did I care for people doing things for me like opening car doors. I mean seriously, I got this all by my little self.
So in honor of the “bouji guys” of California that waited on me as if I were more than an internet celebrity, I have the hedgehog. I’ve been wanting a little something to take along with me and take pictures of the object with the background of whatever I am doing. Bouji will forever be with me, he will be in a photo set all to himself on flickr. You can see his adventures and daily life. You never know where “bouji” will turn up.
I was checking out Me Ra Koh’s Blog (my new idol, person I look up to in the photography department) this morning and found out that she thought some of the photos I took at the Sony Mommy Blogger Event were pretty swank! Me Ra Koh thinks my photos are good!
Imagine that. Anyways so while I was looking at my photos being displayed on a famous photographer’s website, I also noticed that my husband wrote an insanely funny post about his experience with a messy pamper. His story had me crying, it was so funny!
Five days in California, really is a long a time. I thought the time would go by quickly but when you miss your husband and children the time practically stands still. I can’t wait to see my family. I missed my family so much.
We had to get up really early this morning, like 3 am, in order to get to the airport in time for our plane to leave. Since we are traveling from the west coast to the east we will lose 3 hours on the flight. Switching back to Eastern Standard Time will probably be a challenge for my body since it has already started to get used to pacific time. Uugghh vacation is so physically distressing.
With the Sony Mommy Blogger Event and touring San Diego, California overall this “vacation” hasn’t been all that bad. I’ve learned a lot, meet a group of great women, and finally saw the west coast. Although I would never live in California, it was great to come for a visit and pretend like I was an “important person” for once in my life.
So you want to know what went on at the Sony Mommy Blogger Event. Well let me tell you about the fabulous time that we had. I was one of only 15 mommy bloggers chosen to attend this exclusive event. I was the young, shy blogger of the group but I loved learning and watching the other women interact. I never knew bloggers could talk so much!!!
The awesome group of bloggers that attended were…

Inashoe
Domestic Chicky
Plain Jane Mom
Domestic Diva: ME!
Hi Tech Mommy
Lisa Reviews
Mom Central
A Mamas Rant
Geek Girlfriends

On the first day we spent a large chunk of time introducing each other. Some bloggers talked a lot about themselves while others, like me, just said a short introduction and passed it off to the next blogger. After each blogger was introduced we were then introduced to the “higher ups” as I would call them or the “sony people” to you. After all introductions were complete we got to open our “prizes”.
The first prize that we got was a Sony Cybershot in a super cute blue color. Yes, I am a girl and yes I like my accessories to have colors. The second gadget we unwrapped was a Sony Alpha Camera. At this point I began to freak out internally because OMG, I have been wanting a SLR camera since forever but have never had the money to treat myself to one. Now I actually have a swank SLR camera that takes the best shots!!! The third item in our goody bag was a
Sony Handycam. Which means easier ways to video tape events and the possibility of “me-todays” coming back. (metodays are daily video casts of what I am doing during my day).
Once we opened our new gadgets we were given a quick run though of the products with Sony professionals. After we got familiar with the products we were then introduced to the famous wedding photographer, Me Ra Koh. Me Ra is such a sweet, kind person. She took all of us under her little photographers wing and taught us all how to take great shots. She told us about how she got into photography and how she met her husband. Me Ra is a sweet soul and I feel so very lucky to be one of the people that got to meet her in person.
We had dinner at a 4 star restaurant, the kind of place that has a gazillion forks and twenty different glasses. I’m not a fancy smancy type of gal so the four star hotel and upscale dinning really blew my mind.
Day two of the Mommy Blogger Event was spent discussing photographs that we took with the Sony Alpha camera as well as getting tips on blogging and feedback on how we liked the items. Day two was only half a day long, I really wish we could have spent more time with Me Ra and the others.
The Sony Mommy Blogger Event kicked ass! I can’t wait to attend another one in the future. Now that I know sort of what to expect, I will probably be more open.
Individual reviews of the products coming soon! I am still testing out the products so it may be a couple days before reviews are written, but stay tuned they will be up soon.
Some of you may be wondering what the hotel looked like as well as the other mommies that got to attend the Sony Mommy Blogger Event. Now you can check out the behind the scene action on my flickr photo album.
Stories are coming soon, right now I am uploading the billions of photos I have taken.
