Tummy Time

The bean absolutely loves his tummy time. He will lay on his stomach doing his little baby push ups while I either fold clothes, or while the pnut is watching television or playing. He loves watching big brother. He usually just lays on his tummy and laughs as life passes him by. For all those who have been wondering the bean has mastered the roll over. Both from front to back and back to front. Here is a video I think I took a month ago but can’t really remember.

Update

So, I just realized that it has been over a month now since I last gave ya’ll an update on the kidlets. Where shall I begin? Lets start with the bean. Bean is doing well. Getting fatter as each day goes on. He has gone through rice cereal, oatmeal, and now he is on the mixed cereal. He goes back to the doctor next week for his 4 month check up and those dreaded shots. I’ve heard lots of controversy over the whole shot thing and have yet to make a decision against not vaccinating my children. The way I am looking at it right now is that I got vaccinated when I was a child and turned out fine. I hope that I won’t be eating those words later but as of right now that is how I feel about the whole situation. The bean a couple weeks ago started to roll over. He has rolled from tummy to back and then back to front. I leave the room and he has done a complete circle on his play mate and eventually isn’t even on it at all. I think he has been struggling with an earache for the majority of this week. He has been pulling at his left ear and has been very sleepy. His left eye also has had some discharge coming from it. I remember with pnut that the doctor usually recommended that his body just learn to fight it so I didn’t bother taking him to the doctor. I’ve been monitoring him closely to see if he got any worse but he has been getting better each day and now has no discharge from his eye so he is learning to fight it. No use in pumping him full of drugs he doesn’t need.

Now on to the pnut. A couple weeks ago I found a mommy group online for my area. I was so ecstatic to find this group since I’ve been searching for one in my area ever since I moved here. The majority of the moms in the group live in my area but then there are some that are in the bigger cities around me. Of course the bigger cities have their own meetups but I was on a mission to find one that was specifically in my area. Anyways. A good handful of the women and children meet at the Library every wednesday for storytime. I have met some really great women so far. We have been to story time at least 3 times now and absolutely love it. Pnut can’t wait till wednesdays now. He loves meeting his friends. We have also started, since the weather is cooling off, to go to the park after storytime for a nice picnic lunch and playtime. This delights the pnut even more. He keeps asking when we get to see “the kids” again. It is good to see my pnut making friends and I love the mommy time. There was a dessert date planned for tonight but because it was supposed to be a moms night out type of deal I was unable to attend because I had no one to keep the kidlets. Its fine, I’ll just catch up next time they have it.

Another activity we have started to do as a family is going to church on Sunday mornings. Pnut loves the kindergarten class and this past Sunday they made some crafts. They are so cute and the first crafts that pnut has ever made me since I’m the one usually keeping him. They are very special to me. I made a bulletin board for him out of some leftover elmo fabric that I had so we could display all of his wonderful sunday school creations. I’m glad to have found a church that I feel comfortable in. It is a non-denominational church with all kinds of races so our family fits right in. The preacher is funny and really speaks to your soul which is something we all need. The bean typically eats before we go so everytime I pick him up from the nursery he is passed out. All the ladies love him and his squishy parts. They say he is so purty that he should have been a girl. This week I talked with another lady that attends that church and I hope to meet her soon. She is in my mommy group so we will have something in common. Like the library pnut can’t wait to go to church so he can play with “the kids”. I look forward to the time my husband and I can spend alone in the word.

The 2 newest members of our family are such a delight. Pnut is so excited about finally having a cat, well 2 cats. He loves running around the house and having them chase after him. They are slowly warming up to us. Right now as I type this they are sleeping at the bottom of pnuts bed, watching over him. How sweet?

We are doing well. I am sorry for the lack of update. We have had a tough month if you read blog you would have known that but we are doing better than we were a month ago. I am glad that I have joined these groups and are getting out there with the kids for some fun. It has made us better as a family. I’ve taken some videos over the past month that I need to upload so ya’ll can see for yourself first hand what fun we have been having. So, until next time…

The Bean’s Doctor Visit…

So the bean skipped his 1 month doctor visit so I decided to schedule him one sometime last week. The nearest available appointment was for last Tuesday.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Here are his stats…

age…. 2 months 4 weeks
Weight….13 lbs. 13 oz. [can you say, BIG baby!]
height….25 inches long [wow!]

The doctor was so impressed with his weight gain that he is already on cereal! Sheesh, he isn’t even 3 months old and already beginning solids. Typically a child doesn’t start solids until at least 4 months. The doctor put him on them early because he has been killin’ an 8 oz. bottle every 4 hours except for the time he sleeps at night which is from midnight till 8-10 in th morning.

Poor little guy. He had to have 3 shots in his tiny little legs and had to drink some nasty stuff too. He was asleep when she began poking him with the needles. Talk about a rude awakening. He was so mad!!!

He’s been sleeping most of the day. I don’t blame him it was a traumatic experience.

Bragging Rights

Since the bean is a model baby for Mutha Crafter’s awesome onesies, I had to share this comment that Juliet [the shop owner] emailed to me today that she received from one of her customers…

Sent by grandpagrandmasattic on August 09, 2007:

This is by far THE CUTEST baby I have ever seen. Congratulations.

Thank you, grandpagrandmasattic for that really sweet comment. You totally made my day. Now, I’m off to spend time with the cutest baby ever!

A miracle right before my eyes…

Finally the kids are asleep at the same time! from The Domestic Diva and Vimeo.

This is truly a miracle to have both kids asleep at the same time. I decided to take a video of it to preserve it forever in history. Who knows when this will ever happen again. After I shot the video I actually got to do something that I wanted to do without having a little kidlet come up to me every 5 minutes wanting something. I got my work written for the day as well as some much needed relaxation time by watching a “grown-up” movie!

Thank you Mrs. Flinger for the idea. You are one of my bloggy inspirations.

One second, I go pee!

Today, I decided to take the pnut with me to the grocery store while the bean stayed home and slept with Daddy. While we were at the grocery store doing our typical grocery shopping, I remembered that I need to get a box of nerds from the candy aisle. We use nerds in our potty training routine. The nerds trick has worked really well. Pnut has been 100% potty trained since his 2nd birthday. Not even any accidents at night!

I grabbed the box and put it in the buggy. Pnut turned to me with the most serious look on his face and said….

“OH…OK…Hold on, One second….I go pee!”

You see, he wanted to eat the nerds and knows that in order to get nerds he has to go to the bathroom and do his duty. I told him he had to wait until we got home and that he could have some nerds then. He was very content with that answer, which surprised me since now-a-days the tiniest no can send the pnut into a 2 yr old raging fit. But not today. He was very good today and got a nice treat when we got home.

Where is my popcorn!

The pnut is so funny. A couple days last week we would watch a movie during the afternoon to pass the time away. But we haven’t watched a movie since. The other day pnut comes up to me and says “Mama….movie….OK?…OK!” then runs to the videos and proceeds to pick out what he wants to watch. I say to him, “Ok, pnut you can watch a movie”. Glee beams from pnuts face as he proceeds to go get the sumo lounge from the corner of the room and place it on the floor. We watch movies in front of the television, all piled onto the sumo lounge. It is lots of fun and oh so comfortable.

I start the movie for him and proceed to finish washing the dishes. Pnut runs into the kitchen and screams…

“WHERE’S MY POPCORN!!! POPCORN…MAMA!!! PAWEEEEEEEEEZ!”

I ask him if he wants popcorn. And screams “YES MA’AM!” Who can resist such manners?

I think it is funny that he now associates popcorn with movie time even though we only had movie days a couple times.
