My love for cooking started at a very young age when I received my first easy bake oven [way back in the 80’s]. I enjoyed baking the cakes and decorating them, but that was pretty much all that I knew how to do. I enjoyed seeing my parents faces light up when I would show them the latest “masterpiece” that I had created for them.
I took this joy of making others smile with me into high school where I was required to take a Home Economics class. There I was able to learn a variety of things to advance my cooking skill. Among learning to cook more elaborate foods, I learned how to meal plan, make a budget, just to be the all around american housewife. It is there that I created my very first character cake and fell absolutely in love with the idea of creating edible art. I’ve always been one for the arts, constantly doodling in class. The idea of putting two things together that I absolutely love…cooking + art….amazed me.
The first thing that I ever created with the combination of both of my loves was a garfield character cake. We were required to bake and ice our own cakes. Whilst everyone else created your typical cake, I went the opposite direction and wanted to create something fun and different, something that would make others notice the talent that I had, make them say ” Wow! “. This was the result:

Being a stay at home is everything I could have ever wanted and more. I get to create and experiment in the kitchen all day long and pass on my cooking knowledge to my son who will be able to impress the ladies with when he gets older.I’m not one for eating my own cooking…I’m not saying that it isn’t good or anything, it is just that I enjoy the act of cooking not the act of eating. I love creating things for other people, showing them love through food. We constantly have baked goods in the house, and I hardly eat a single one. I just like to see the expression on my husband or other peoples faces when I hand them a piece of something that I know took a lot of love to make. “Food is the way to a man’s heart” isn’t that what they say. There is no better way to show someone that you love them than to make them a good meal.
